Title: Even if you're out of photo devices ...
Post by: Gustavo on August 28, 2009, 16:21:58
LET US KNOW what playmo you've been getting! :)

(If possible, collect a link or a pic in the internet, but the set number will do!)

I'll begin! ;D

My superset 4133 (knights), not a new one ... just arrived, two days ago.

(Er ... I'm not without a camera, I've been using that same most of you know, but the computer hasn't been helping me, and I'll have to wait a while, until I may published the story I've shot :( )

All klickys are properly changed & named! :yup: and stories arise!

It's a wonderful set!

Only ... I had to make two little addaptations ;D

1. it's too low: it has to go on a book (I've done it, and it solves the matter, and makes a fine fortress! :yup: I hope to be able to show you next month, if the computer's back in order ...)

2. my stories take place before canons, around 1100, therefore, I had to remove the canon; which left me an idle platform -- instead, I managed a burning-with-something-hot cauldron ;) and a way of throwing the stew down, in case of attack :yup:

I've shot a story, but won't be able to publish so soon :-[

I got 4 blister packs, recently (yesterday :yup: )
I couldn't find their pics in the Playmobil USA site, therefore I'll describe, and try to take pics of the backs and put here.

5800, which is a Roman centurion (exactly as one being sold in Playmobil USA, attached below. #1) with a common legionaire;

5856, two knights, difficult to describe them, but one is a fat "Dragon Baron", and nother one a golden one that reminds of one picture I'll try to attach or link soon, I've seen it's chest here in Playmofriends, if I'm not mistaken;

and 5799 (got x2 of this one ;D ), I'm definitely not in Western, but I got this one because of (1) sideburns of Special 4622 (attached, #2, borrowed from Collectobil.com) and (2) the bayonet rifle, I had none (and it was the main reason I got two of this set ::) ); the blister that exact confederate soldier, and a common blond Union soldier, the blond hair (3) is at hand, too.

So, attachments, and I'll see if I find the body of the knight I told you ...

Here it's the link:

http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=1130.msg13783#msg13783
(I KNEW I had seen it somewhere!)

The body of the knight is the one of the right one, only, it's with dark gray legs & golden arms, and golden + dark grey accessories, including the golden medieval common sword. (I have more use for the silver (iron) one, but it's good thing to have one golden, at least ;D ).

I hope I manage to bring pictures of the blister backs. (The "guys" aren't exactly as they came, anymore. I have to make characters!)

So, here are the attachments for 5799 and 5800.

@ Gordon | dad gave some money, I thought with myself: "it goes all in playmobil!" 8}

I thought I was make an order at Amazon, but there's a bookstore which sells blisterpacks, and Oct 12th is Children's Day, so they got prepared to have some profit on it ... they don't actually get that much playmo, but there were these, and I thought ... "why not?" ;D

It wasn't as cheap as I'd like, but I have the shop's customer card, and it lowered the price from 30, something to 25,90 Reais! :yup:, so I bought 4. About $180, $190? ... I'd have to spend around $300 to send for anything (that worthed) through Amazon, so I got quite happy :) :) :) :)

I'll try to post the last story I shot ... I have so many things to shoot, and now, life's coming back to normal: we're getting used to the cat. But I still need a good camera.

IMO, attachments are great, Gus!

So, here are the attachments for 5799 and 5800.

Oh, here they are! :) Thanks, Richard!

 :doh: I should have had the idea of searching on google ... ( ;D )

Here it goes pic of blister 5856, and of my moment of doubt ... ("should I or should I not get 5802, instead of 5799 x2? :hmm:" :P lol.)

I didn't like those pirates that much.--

We've been waiting for 5799 to appear for a while, just wish the Union soldier had been the 4628 special instead. That won't stop me buying a dozen for those rare Confederate sideburns.

The 5800 doesn't make any sense to me at all. A ratio of 1 Centurion to 1 Legionary is useless, so this pack doesn't work for army builders, and anyway both these figures are still available as accessories as well as in the 4276 ship. A better pack would have been the archer, only available in sets 4275 and 4276, and the cavalryman from set 4273.

Post by: Gustavo on October 10, 2009, 21:18:07
There are two differences in the 5799 to the one in the picture (there are always small differences ... :-[ ):

1. Union soldier (below) brings old fashioned scarf
and 2. confederate one has one striped canteen belt (couldn't find any picture).

When I was young, I always kept thinking where they might sell those rifles with the long tip, because, when I was a kid, I only got short rifles (attached, however small). This time, the rifle, at least, came right! :yup:, it's a long carabine!
Title: Re: Even if you're out of photo devices ...
Post by: Gustavo on October 10, 2009, 21:27:03
In fact, Martin, specials 4628 + 4622 (below) would have been quite a blister!!! 8}
They didn't dare.

I agree, concerning the archer. I still don't have any Roman archer, for example. Even so, I imagine that it isn't that bad to sell one centurion + one legionaire, once people can buy the three legionaires set, and have one centurion with 4 legionaires ;D

I believe they'll still release some blister with an archer, in the future, maybe combined with Egyptians ... One can only hope :hmm:

I must have missed something  ??? I do not remember 5799 & 5800 blisters at all  :-[

They look great and I will be getting some as soon as i can find them . I do agree that they could have had some slight changes but none the less, I like them and will use them the way they are

Thanks Gus for the info

I agree completely with Martin.  The Roman pack is useless, as both figures will be available as add-ons even after most of the Roman theme has been discontinued.  The archer and either the yellow cavalryman or the auxiliary soldier with sandals would have been much better choices.  And Playmobil really missed the boat by not including the original Union soldier Special.

Gustavo:  good eyes on the different scarf!

I totally disagree ...  :P

If and when the Roman blister appears at Target, for $2.99 USD, I'll buy every one I can lay my hands on.

Do the math. A set of 3 Romans from Playmobil USA DS "Add Ons" is $9.99 USD.  $2.99 multiplied by 3 is $8.97. If I throw away the centurions from 3 blisters, I've still saved $1.07! The three centurions are a FREE bonus, plus I've saved over a dollar!

Seems like a no brainer to me ... ;)

That is a very good point, I'd grab a bunch too. I picked up a dozen on so 5827 blisters @ $2 apiece because Fred Meyer were trying to clear their shelves, and I was happy to help them. I'd just hate having to throw away those centurions.  ;D

I'm not used to thinking Target prices yet, if these blisters came out in thwe UK they'd start at £4 or £4.50 each, no saving on a direct order.

Anyway, another 5856.

Not expensive ... It costed me R$ 24,99 (*) in Lojas Americanas (the Brasilian "Target" ... kind of). They have .. not only this store, but EVERY @#$%! store in Brasil, to put the price of X,99, instead of squaring it 8} (really nuts! .. ::) )

I don't know how much it is in Dollars ... It isn't so expensive to Brasilian standart, but it IS expensive. Comparing with the prices I hear you guys talking about, it should cost no more than R$ 8,00 here.

Even so, R$ 25,00 is a price even a child may easily raise to get, at least, one a month. (Difficult to get two, though ...)

When I lived in Portugal, I managed to get quite a few, maybe around one little box a week, with my 14 year-old savings! 8-) it was a great time! :)

Holy cow, that's almost USD$13.70 for a blister pack!  :omg: :omg:
Title: Re: Even if you're out of photo devices ...
Post by: Gustavo on February 26, 2010, 04:00:25
(Exactly. That's the proper reaction ::) )

In time, one comes to see that there's a lot of reasons for that, and some of us come to .. if not accept, at least understand how or why it is like this ... (importation taxes, minimum salary tradition & politics in the Brasilian economy, &c &c ... 8} )

Anyway, it's also the reason why very, VERY few Brasilian kids will ever dream of larger sets ... The prices look like exponential, it's scary to think of the price of a castle in Brasil, even bringing it through Amazon.com.

The largest sets I think to have acquired myself was the Royal Kitchen & the Blue timbered steck house. (Besides that knights superset, in the beginning of this thread, which wasn't cheap, but, for a reasonably big set, it wasn't expensive either, but, as well, probably thrice the price in US$ or Euros ...)

Even though, I can survive ... =P

This 5799 set is for real? Where was it issued? Is it a south pole exclusive? I never ever saw one for sale!

I can recall a discussion about these a while back... If I am correct, these are not real, are they? Jus some seller playing pranks, and maybe making money out of it...

My last order arrived extraordinarily soon 8}

I'm planing the next one, but I'll have to wait the month to turn :-[ (Maybe it should have taken longer for them to arrive, now I'm going to be anxious for next month ...)

Anyway, attachments show 4672 (another one of these), 4684 (two more of these), 4691, and 5825. (4690 was shown last post.)

I hope to order others of 4684 ... It's funny, I don't like the klicky so much, but it's so useful for composing with other stuff! ... But I wish his shield was the old one, like the one 4691 brings ... Now I'll have loads of those blue&yellow shields that I don't use :(

Very useful bits! The klicky isn't bad, it goes with 4672 and 4684 as their captain.

The hood is really cool, but now I miss a brown cloak -- I tried PlaymoDB to see if there even is one, but it's offline :o

The hood would go fine with a brown cloak.
Unfortunately, the only available is in an old Western set (http://www.collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3036.htm), and probably will be impossible to find! :( (see attachments)

The 4339 klicky isn't the best ...
I had to change its belt to black.

Also, the shade of yellow came too bright, it doesn't mach with the other guys (which came to dark ...).

And after I changed his helmet for another, I liked him better ...

Sometimes I get a medium set this size ... (see attachement)

This one I got because of the girl. Luckily the "pegasus" is the white one, and it came out nicely. I liked it.
Don't have much use for it though ...

The flower vases SHOULD have been golden in this set, quite a shame! :no:

Nice girl, though. I needed more girls. Now they're seven or eight, I guess.
