Title: Prelude to Fromgar's Stories
Post by: Gustavo on June 09, 2009, 03:42:43
Fromgar was king in the land of the Norse,
long after the noble man from the south had gone
travelling from afar
after the stolen treasure,
-- story that is about to be told, but not right now --

For now, it is to be introduced one very odd character,
not a character, perhaps, although, it is said
that such creatures do have understanding.

It is as well known of they enemity against mortal men
& elf,
even so, there were those who dared
try tame, and befriend

them . . .

The story teller presents

This was his name,
in the tongues of the men of the Norse.

A relative of Fafnir, they say.
Perhaps the one himself
-- however such cannot be proved.

Others, would mistake him for Szmog the Red,
the one which was caught by a certain arrow,
from a man of a village by the lake,
one who has been known to have invaded, stolen
and piled a whole dwarfin realm and king's treasure,

stories, now, maybe forgotten by many ...

This was called Krananghacz, by the elfs.

Fearful and enemy of all men, Fafnagh was known to have been
tamed, by craft of elfish gems, by a blacksmith and valiant warrior,
whose name was Feorc.

However tamed, Fafnagh wasn't a nice fellow to deal with, and
his tamer himself had a lot of hard labour to keep him out of trouble,
until ...

Because Fafnagh was a hot tempered worm, and even with all effort,
& elfish craft, they were not able to keep him quiet for long ...
Men's mistakes are mainly to delusionally try keep tamed what
cannot be tamed ...

It is known, however, that Fafnagh escaped from his prison
long after the days of Feorc.

Until the days of From, actually, he behaved. It was known to have been
under the crown of From, king, that the gods will have helped, in their wrath
Fafnagh to escape.

From was killed himself by the worm.
His son was hidden, so that the wrath couldn't reach him.
Fromgar, son of From, was taken south, still young,
south of the sea, to the land of the Danes,
where he was brought up, in a secret hall, by his tutor, Taodan.

(There are other versions of this story. This is the one the elfs of Tapia
kept, in their records, for many a year, until all was forgotten,
and men think there never has been any worms on the land of the Norse,
no matter what the tales tell ...)

By the days of his imprisonment, Fafnagh was a very shy creature,
it is to be said ... So would you be, in his place!
