Title: Wonka
Post by: wonka on March 06, 2009, 09:48:11
Hi there, I'm relatively new here. I've been on playmoboard for a while so some of you might already gotten familiar with the name of Wonka. Nevertheless, it's always polite to introduce yourself in a new environment, so here we go.

I live in the Netherlands, am from 1972 and was lucky to grow up with PM, as Holland was one of the first places to get going with the little people. As I've experienced from several members, I also left PM for a while during puberty etc and picked up where I left off, when I was blessed with two kids of my own (4 years and 1 year old now).
I'm still in denial when it comes to themes. I don't wanna choose as yet.
I don't collect in the terms of boxes and collectibles. Everything is to be played with (by the kids, or in diaramas that I like to put up once in awhile).

I also recently released a website that is my PM fantasy running wild, but I do invite everybody to visit, and also contribute with your customs. It might be a really fun place if several people will join in.
Here's the link: http://www.worldofwonka.com (http://www.worldofwonka.com)

Anyway, that's it for this time. Hope we will have PM fun with eachother for a long time.

Welcome from the South Eastern USA, Wonka ! It's great to have you, & the surge of newly joined members recently on our forum! It's great to have an interest like Playmobil when you have children that you can share it with! When my children were growing up Playmobil wasn't as popular as it is now here, but they liked Lego's  :0, & we had quite a collection of those sets going on! Now I'm able to present a whole new play world to my grandchildren, & I have a fantastic forum to help me suffer with my new addiction  ;)!

Welcome Wonka!

It's great to see another Dutchman making it here.
I saw that you were mentioning Wolfsburg on your site - will you be there too?

Hi Bill, Wonka and the Gang

You may cover your eyes and hears, lock your front door and hold a silver cross and some garlic as I have a confession to make involving the L word  :o...

YES, I have dropped the Playmo Pirates for a Lego Intergalactic adventures for about 2 years when I was young and I was with my best Pal a Nobel Prize level Scientist who loved planet jumping, saving universes...then stop sharp at 04.00pm for a hot chocolate and cookies break...and back to the space odyssey...

I will always remember the face of my Mumm  >:(when she picked up a strange smell in the house, went to the kitchen and found out that 3 of her beloved copper pans were ruined by a mixture of shower gel, jam, chocolate and other strange ingredients that we has prepared in order to save some planet from an alien deadly disease.

I do remember that my Pal was not invited for a couple of Wednesdays afterwards  :'(and when the space fever cooled off, we were back on the adventurous seas with our beloved Playmo Pirates !!!

Karim

To Bogro: No, unfortunately i'm not going to Wolfsburg this year. I was there in 2007, and I can tell you, they have to drag you away from there. It doesn't fit into our plans this year.
Still, I plan to visit the LuxPlaymodays in August.

And about Lego. I've played with it too when a kid, but my plentiness of fantasy could somehow much more be integrated with PM than with Lego. Í have more feeling with the characters than with building. Maybe that's where PM wins the race.

Hi Wonka

Welcome from Scotland! :)

Interesting Playmobil fansite you have there - you seem to have found a niche that hasn't yet been fully explored.
I will be watching it with great interest and will also add it to the forum's links page soon. 8-)

Have fun at PlaymoFriends!

Welcome Wonka!

Good to see you here, I like your site, and need to have a better look when time permits.

And about Lego. I've played with it too when a kid, but my plentiness of fantasy could somehow much more be integrated with PM than with Lego. Í have more feeling with the characters than with building. Maybe that's where PM wins the race.

I also had a short flirtation with Lego, because I thought its smaller dimensions would suit my limited display area, but the little figures lack sufficient character. Before long the Lego got packed away and Playmobil returned to the fore.

cheers,  Martin
