Title: Playmobil Victorian Theme Revisited
Post by: playmovictorian on February 25, 2009, 20:26:28
Hi Guys,

Very happy to be here !!!

I have joined thanks to an invitation from a Member who enjoyed my Playmobil Victorian Customized Auctions on Ebay so much she invited me her and I very look forward to sharing ideas and suggestions as well as discussing the Victorian Theme in general...

A little introduction about me...I am a Hotel Manager in his early forties and always has been a kid at heart and believe it or not, when the amazing Victorian was first released in France in the Spring of 1990, I spent a little fortune on the large house with all the sets from my first salaries. Even at that time it was expensive by all means but the quality and the thoughts that Playmobil put in the Victorian Theme was just outstanding and still is.

I then moved a lot from country to country for my job and my lovely Victorian House has been asleep for nearly 20 years in my Mumms house in South of France until...checking Ebay in 2008 for something totally different, I came accross the Victorian Theme and fell in love again. I knew I wanted a perfect example of the House and found it all furnished and immaculate from a fellow Ebayer from the Isle of Wight...

I was soon inspired to customize it to bring the Theme to a " second life " and after a lot of research, mistakes and excitements, I now fully enjoy accessorizing these beautiful sets with custom made Swag curtains, exquiste food items, etc.

I decided a few weeks ago to put a few sets on Ebay as I was curious about the reactions and interests it would bring and I was jsut taken by storm by what came next - requests from all over the world, numerous questions, each item visited up to 400 times and record selling. I had mainly brought my sets to inspire fellow Victorian House owners but what happened then has amazed me beoynd words and still does.

The ''Je ne sais quoi" little touch I have added to the Theme was for my own enjoyment but now that I have the possiblity to share my originality and creativity with other enthusiastic members, I am more than happy to do so...

I very much look forward engaging with you Guys !!!

Karim

Greetings from South Eastern USA Karim! We were hoping you would grace us with your presence here! Your Playmobil Victorian theme customs that I saw are excellent! In my early collecting era, My wife & I had the complete Victorian theme 5300, & 5301 with all of the accessories also! It still has an attraction for many people to this day, but difficult, & expensive to get! I wish Playmobil would release the same sets again as a classic series for people that missed them, & would really like to get them as they were in those days including the fence, room furnishings, car, & delivery truck, kiosk, etc.! We look forward to having you with us here, please contribute as much as you can!
Welcome again K,
Bill

Greetings Karim, from the Great Pacific Northwest!  Very glad to have you with us, I was not aware of your items till Anne brought some of your auction items to our attention (thank you again Anne) and I must say your work is marvelous (the Victorian theme is one of those missed opportunities for those of us who came late to Playmobil).

I am sure you will enjoy your time here and look forward to seeing around the board!

Welcome from California!  I've always been a fan of the Victorian theme, even though I don't own any of the sets.

Welcome, Karim, from the UK.     Thank you for the detailed introduction and I look forward to seeing photos of your collection and customs.  I've never got into the Victorian theme, although the opportunities of a fire in a Victorian mansion are not lost on me.  Once I came close to buying one or even two of them at half price (£60 in those days) from a toy shop which was closing down, but resisted.  Remembering the size of the box and looking at the quantity of PM I have now, I was probably wise to do so, but I still sometimes regret not buying just one of them.  :'(

Welcome Karim!

IMHO the money you spend on the Victorian sets was wisely spend  ;D It's a wonderfull theme with lots of detail - but it seems you've added some more. The pics we saw from Ebay were fantastic. I am really looking forward to seeing more from you (and learning some tricks from you as well) !!

Welcome Karim,

the Victorian theme passed me by, but it's one of the best detailed and designed themes Playmobil ever did, and still wonderful to see.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your collection,

cheers,  Martin

Hi Karim!

Welcome from Scotland.

Thank you for joining us. I'm so pleased that you took up Indianna's offer! :D

The Victorian theme has always been my favourite of all. It was those amazingly detailed and beautiful sets which got me completely hooked on Playmobil collecting.

I came to it a little bit late, during the release of the second wave of sets around 2000/2001. When I discovered all the amazing sets which were around a few years before, I simply had to get my hands on those too! 8-) Thank goodness for eBay or I would not have had a chance of completing my collection.

I love the clever way you mix 1/12 dollshouse accessories with Playmobil pieces. I did this quite often in the past too, especially in the days before Playmobil relented and gave us a larger variety of food for our hungry klickies. ;D

Have fun at PlaymoFriends! :)

Welcome from sunny Arizona 8-)

The Victorian theme is one of my favorites :yup:

I have made a few custom vehicles, using the vintage  cars
and trucks as a base.

Best regards,

welcome from san francisco.  i am relatively new to the group, but i started gathering bits of the victorian theme when it first came out here in the states for my daughter, and i too remember how expensive it was, and difficult to justify in view of other household expenses.  i have since added much more to my collection, and i always thought my victorian klickies were hungry for more than chicken or blobs of icecream.   kaethe

Welcome Karim, from northern California.

I like the Victorian theme a lot.  Here in Sacramento, California, there are a lot of Victorian houses remaining.  They are beautiful.

Hello, Karim!
Beautiful work!
I missed the Victorian theme (boy, do I wish I had that elusive fence that's so expensive on ebay! lol), but bought 5301 for our daughters for Christmas a few years ago, along with all the sets to go with it.  It can't rival the Victorian stuff, but we still love it!
Anyhow--a warm welcome from Florida!

Hello Karim,
welcome too and let me tell you,I'v been a fan of the victorian theme also.
On my avatar you can see my victorian house with extension floor.
Bought it when I was 14, I saved a long time...
I was trying to get my hands on another extension floor the last couple of months, but boy are they asking a lot of money for it...
I wouldn't mind either if Playmobil deceided to put them back on the market now...
