My local toy shop is having a Playmobil clearance sale so I decided to take advantage and buy one of the bigger system x sets that they had available. I picked up the 4490 Animal Farm. My motivation to buy it was to create this engine shed. It's a project I've wanted to do for awhile but never had the parts.
This is my first attempt at creating something original in system x. It's fun. I don't mind the connectors and it's nice to have a large variety of parts. I still like steck better, but it's nice to try something different.
Here's a link to my Flickr page:

Ah, this is an cool idea. I think the large doors from the new fire rescue theme would also make some good engine shed doors.

That looks really nice Gloobey! Good use of those parts, have you started on a roundhouse yet? :D :D

Very smart ideed, gloobey.

That really looks great! Perhaps a titbit too modern for the locomotive; but very nice nonetheless ;)

Now that's a great idea.
Perhaps the doors of the take-a-long shed of the new roadworks theme could do the trick too?

Either would do, maybe the take-along shed would also do as an engine shed, or the front part at least.

Very Nice, the nly thing I dislike about it are the glass walls, they make the whole thing look a bit to modern.

Great idea Gloobey :wow:! Do you have any other plans in the works ????

I gave it a try aswell, it is made out of steck because I don't have any system x.
It is not my own design I stole it from klickywelt.:

Only in my dreams Gepetto, only in my dreams...Ah, this is an cool idea. I think the large doors from the new fire rescue theme would also make some good engine shed doors.
These doors are great, but I believe they run on a track. I need a door that's hinged so that it doesn't interfere with the track. The roll-up door from the take-along garage is a possibility. The green doors that I'm using are definitely too short.
I like teh steck shed Highlandcattle. It solves the height problem the same way that I tried it. 1 1/2 sections is just the right height. Two sections makes it too tall. I always wish I had a 1/2 section that was timbered or masonry, though. I'd love to see Playmobil come up with an official set for an engine shed, switch tower and other railway buildings.

Hm, I'm not sure, because it has an integrated floor and it's closed from all but the front side. As Gordon said, if then only the one half. Unfrotunately I do not have a train/engine to test with.
