Hi there!
Today I would like to introduce myself, Oliver Schaffer from Hamburg, Germany.
I am 30 years old and I started collecting PLAYMOBIL® at age 4.
Since I was a manic circus fan I built my own PLAYMOBIL® circus including a tent made of canvas, little speakers for circus music and real sawdust.
Moreover I collected circus memorabilia such as autographs, merchandise items, etc.
Over the years my collection grew bigger and bigger. And at some point of my life it was my career in musical theatre business which became more important for me.
Luckily PLAYMOBIL® got in touch with me for its 30th birthday and asked me if I want to participate in their jubilee exhibition. Everyone loved my circus so I decided to go ahead and tried to figure out how to make my collection even more attractive to museums.
Until now I put my circus on display six times throughout Germany. The current concept is to present real life circus companies from all over the world in connection with PLAYMOBIL®. Plans for another exhibition in amsterdam are currently under way.

the time for setting up my collection really depends on the size of the display. the shortest was 2 days for one small display.
my last exhibition took six days to set up all pieces in ten displays...
the best part of it is getting in touch with circus companies all over the world (Le Rêve/Las Vegas, Circus Festival/Monte-Carlo, Ringling/USA)! :yup: they love to be part of the exhibition and always send great costumes or merchandise to be connected with PLAYMOBIL®.

my collection is currently stored at PLAYMOBIL® in Zirndorf, Germany. Luckily they are supporting my exhibitions. at home i don't have enough room to store it... :-\

Fantastic displays you have there, I think Playmobil are lucky to have a fan who puts so much tiem and effort (and money!) into colelcting and displaying the Curcus theme!
Maybe you can persuade Playmobil to re-relearse the violin & double bass set - I'm deperate to get some violins!

I've always had a soft spot for that particular theme, so it's fun to see what can be done on a larger scale as compared to the handful of sets which I own. :)
