Title: Target Clearance
Post by: Kelly on January 16, 2009, 21:13:29
Hey guys,

I just picked up a roman arena at Target for $10 down from $40, they also had the new red dragon set on super clearance.  I think my Target is discontinuing all of their Playmo :( except for blister packs and carrying cases(like the swat and the fireman) . . . so they may not be on sale everywhere.  It may be worth a look if you are interested, though.

Thank you Kelly, I was just at Target today and noticed all they had were a few blisters and the carry packs, this could be a disturbing trend (although I like the carry packs @$10).

$10 for the small Target Arena!  Wow, that is a discount!  It probably wouldn't do me any good, however, as s couple weekends ago my local Target was out of everything except the dragon and a bunch of blister packs.

Naw, Target always drops after Christmas.  In 2006 when I restarted collecting, Target completely dropped Playmobil until around December.

No need for "Target Augury" (the attempt to tell the future by Target inventories).

Durn, and I though getting an arena for £40 was a good deal!  :'(

$10 would barely buy the figures, so even if you threw the area itself away that's a great price.

Makes you wonder what Target are making on this sort of deal - surely they wouldn't actually sell at a loss?

Martin, did you get the big arena 4270 for £40?  If so, that is probably still a pretty good deal (it currently sells on the US Playmobil site for $95 and I have seen it as low as $65 on clearance at a local toy store.)  The Target set is number 5837 and has many fewer parts - still a great deal at $10, but not the same set.
