THIS IS NOT NEWS !!!
This is a QUESTION ... ???
At Playmofriends we do NOT, IMHO, have a place where we can ask questions or make suggestions about our Playmofriends Forum.
We also do NOT have a place where we can just chat about Playmobil in general.
For instance ... Where would we currently put a question like this?
"What are the advantages of photo attachments over photo links?"
This does NOT seem to be a "News" topic ... again IMHO ... :P
All the best,
Richard

Here is the current list off of the first page and you are certainly right Richard . Many are just general questions and not news . I have many times wondered where to post such items and having no other option and sticking to protocol would post them in the news knowing very well it had nothing to do with news at all .

I agree even though the "News" category defines itself pretty broadly:
Keep up-to-date on future releases & discuss general Playmobil topics
I think we also need a category called "Liquor and Women".

Perhaps that may be the problem, Timmy ... 8}

At Playmofriends we do NOT, IMHO, have a place where we can ask questions or make suggestions about our Playmofriends Forum.
Hello, Richard
Maybe in the "Getting Started" ... It isn't accurate, but it seems to be the most proper place for the work of the forum in general. Certain kinds of questions might come well in the pfz area, as a survey or a poll. Just an idea.
We also do NOT have a place where we can just chat about Playmobil in general.
What kind of talk do you mean? :hmm: Most of them look likely to fit, I believe, in the "Collector's Corner", or the "Report & Review" (which brings as subtitle "Share your opinions, photos, plus other information about sets & figures") ... Maybe we could use the "What's this???" more often, however I wouldn't know how, I have to admit. But depending on the kind of chat, it might go reasonably well there.
For instance ... Where would we currently put a question like this?
"What are the advantages of photo attachments over photo links?"
This specific question looks like "Technical Support/Testing" board as well ... Moderators could propose surveys/polls in that area, maybe, so as to collect general opinion, or giving hints.
However, once there are both kinds of image sharing possibilities, it ends up as an user option ... Discussion can be raised, but I think it'll end up as a matter of opinion. For instance, to my photostories I use the photo links, but some users may not know how to use it, or even, for some personal reason, prefer to attach ... (maybe don't want but users to have access to their pictures, I don't know) ... But it's interesting to bring these questions somewhere, and we have to start from somewhere, so, thanks for bringing them here. I'm sure other playmofriends will give interesting thoughts on the matter.
These are mine.

Edit
[There could be a special board for games, or general chat (or one for each), maybe, as there is in another forum I'm in. It'd go nicely in the pfz ...]

How about changing the "News" forum to simply the "General" forum?
P.S. I too vote we add a "Liquor and Women" forum! ;)

How about changing the "News" forum to simply the "General" forum?
Interesting suggestion, Justindo ...
However, there do seem to be some legitimate "news" items ... Such as the ones that Andi (Customizer) often posts.
Maybe we should think about just adding a "General" forum? Sylvia?

Hello Richard,
Great ideas and great thread :)9. I have often wanted to discuss Playmobil in general and find i am restricted by not wanting to post 'off topic' in another area of the board. I think Playmofriends has come on a long way in the last year with a lot more people using it. Prehaps our needs are evolving as our numbers grow and as such some slight changes could be made ? I am not saying that there is anything wrong with Playmofriends but maybe we just need some slight improvements ?

Now, Tim W mentioned something very interesting: Playmofriends is a very nice place. It is so because it's very well focused, I think. And well managed.
I thank you guys in management, for it! It's nice to be here because you take good care of the place.
As for the matter, well, lets think about it! :)
Maybe one more board might be interesting and enough.
So, it might be:
News
Report & Review
General Subjects & Topics
Collector's Corner
...
Looks like neat.

Keep up-to-date on future releases & discuss general Playmobil topics
This is the right forum for discussing general Playmobil topics. Your question about photo attachments would fit well into the How-to area, but posting it here would not be a crime. I don't see a problem.
All forums I know have a general area such as this News/General Topics area, an atrium if you will, it's the nature of forums.
Nobody should feel discouraged from posting anything in the News/General Topics area, and if the moderators think it sits better elsewhere we all have the ability to move it.
After all, anything that doesn't come out of my own brain is news to me! ;D

"What are the advantages of photo attachments over photo links?"
I did this, with some pictures I put in another forum where I don't identify myself as Gustavo. For some reason (mainly, I think, because, when I was returning to Playmobil, I wished to be myself wholy, no disguise at all), I registered with my name, and, at the time, the most common password I happen to addopt. (I recently changed it, because of some confusions that took place: I put it as different as I could from the one of the service from which a hacker has been identified.)
But I make part of another forum, where I don't want people to think I'm myself. For no special reason, only, maybe, I'm more of my (child[ish]) self here than there. I'm not known by my name, there, and I use one pseudonym and one "eke" name ...
Once, I posted pictures here, attached, thinking about not having it public. By then, before entering the other forum, it was ... something that made me think that I didn't want anyone besides you playmofriends to know about the pictures. Recently, I saw myself in ... some sort of need to publish some playmobil pictures there. The only ones I could publish were these (from which I selected one), because they were the only ones that weren't public, as for example, all my pirates' stories are ... If I publish any of my pirates, everyone will easily know that it's me.
Not that it is impossible to find out that I'm that guy in the other forum, and/or vice-versa ... It's the same author, the same way of writing, some same "virtues & vices" ... But it'll demand a bit of an effort that most people won't spend in doing.
(If someone makes a thorough ... and not so thorough investigation, it's easy to see that I'm the guy in the other forum, with the different name, and/or that he is me ... But I don't want simply to say that. 'Don't know why, or have an immediate reason for this, besides ... some sort of care for my individuality, and particular (public) life ... (Because, whenever you're in a forum, your life, and opinions, become public.)

This is the right forum for discussing general Playmobil topics.
Hello, Martin ...
I respectfully disagree ... :P
And, now I will throw a tantrum (because I'm immature and I want my own way) ... :hissyfit:
BTW ... From what I've seen, there's not much in Houston (so, you probably didn't miss anything).
All the best,
Richard

No, not much in Houston. We mostly divided our time between visiting the in-laws and shopping. We went to the Chellenger Memorial Park, but it was just a bit of scrubby undeveloped land. We had a pleasant visit to the Johnson Space Centre, then kept finding coupons that would have saved us $5 each on the tickets.
The highlight for me was seeing the Texans beat the Bears in their final regular season game at Reliant Stadium, thus denying them a Playoff spot.
I'm really an Eagles fan, so today I'm feeling a bit sore that they lost the NFC Championship game to the Cardinals. Since when were the Cardinals a good team?!?
Still, at least I can now cheer for the Steelers in the Superbowl and not have divided loyalties.

No, not much in Houston.
Ooops ...
I meant "not much Playmobil" ... ;)
