Shortly after they have left, Assistant Chief 1 who has been left in command of the fire scene, & searching for the two missing construction workers is presented with a situation that makes his blood boil with anger. The construction supervisor approaches him with two other individuals. With obvious guilty expressions on their faces, the supervisor brings to light a good & bad discovery.
(http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/7325/pict0002in.jpg) (http://img41.imageshack.us/i/pict0002in.jpg/)
The two missing workers were actually late returning from lunch due to throwing back a few too many at the local Playmobil Cafe. They were not missing inside the building after all.

After an angered exchange of words toward the construction workers, Assistant Chief 1 is heard talking to headquarters.
.................Assistant Chief 1 to headquarters.

Go ahead Assistant Chief 1.
By my authority all units searching for the missing construction workers are to discontinue search operations immediately, & to check in with their apparatus OIC, & headquarters also have Playmobil City Police officers that are on this scene come to my location ASAP. I have a request for them.

A few moments after Assistant Chief 1 talked to the PCPD officers, Playmobil City Police officers arrest the two construction workers on scene for public intoxication, drunk & disorderly conduct, wreckless endangerment, & resisting arrest. Later they fail an alcohol breathalyzer test with a level 3 times the legal limit after being transported to Playmobil City Police Department, & are charged.
Later that day after the fire is extinguished, & the units have returned to their stations, Playmobil City Fire Department personnel are getting the apparatus cleaned, restocked, & back into service.
The following sequence of pictures show PCFD personnel preparing for the next call.

There is a sad silence among the PCFD firefighter brothers, & sisters as station, & apparatus duties are performed. The silence is interrupted by headquarters transmitting over all radios.
This is the radio traffic that is heard by all personnel…………………..

Headquarters to all Playmobil City Emergency Service Agencies it is with great sadness that we have been notified by Playmobil City Hospital that firefighter #2354 M___ K_____ has passed away on this date 11/29/08 at 20:45 hours due to fatal injuries sustained at incident #25110. All department flags are to be lowered to half staff status immediately. The family of firefighter #2354 requests that instead of flowers, donations can be sent to Playmobil City Hospital Trauma Center in his honor. Playmobil City Fire Department personnel will be notified by their OIC’s in regard to duties involving participation in the funeral service, & will be scheduled as soon as their OIC's know the details through the PCFD computer network bulletins. At this time we request one minute of silence to honor the life of firefighter #2354 M____K_____ for his service, a job well done, & his ultimate sacrifice to this city while protecting others to the end. Thank you…………..headquarters 10-4.

Hello Bill,
Another excellent addition to the story. I am glad that justice was done in the end. If it happened in this country i am sure the builders would have got a pat on the back, counselling for their traumatic experience and substantial compensation for being shouted at by the fire fighters :D
Going off that beginning of your story reminds me of a real life incident involving incompetent builders. Some builders were carrying out renovation work in a large building. They came across a material in a roof space or ceiling and wondered if it was fire proof so they decided to test it...with their blow torch. Unfortunately for them and for the fire crews that had to turn out to fight the massive blaze that followed, it wasn't.
I am really looking forward to the next installment Bill, keep up the good work :)

Thank you Tim!
I truly appreciate your close attention to all of the details when following this photo story, & your positive review, & influence! I will be getting the unit that is coming over the pond to you ready as soon as the funeral has concluded :'(.

I've only just caught up with this thread, Bill. I really find the detail (even down to vacuuming the cab of the appliance!) quite stunning, as well as a gripping storyline.

You have a great eye for detail Gordon ;)! I can remember doing exactly what is shown in the pictures from my time of being a firefighter after an incident was over! Refilling SCBA air cylinders, washing & detailing the apparatus, putting RU-GLYDE on the tires, cleaning our turnout gear & drying it out, washing all of the fire hose used on scene in the hose washer, now that was fun :hmm:!

:o This is really terrible, and sad to think it could so easily have been prevented if those guys had been where they were supposed to be. Was this part, about the drunk construction workers, based on a real incident? I really enjoyed the cleaning up scenes, very realistic. Again with the amazing details and excellent camera work!

Thank you for the kind comments, bb! :)
No, that never happened on any of the scenes I was involved with. I just had the Playmobil City Cafe on hand & decided to tie it into the story.
-
Well, I'm glad it didn't really happen! But it was a nice touch in the story. ;)

Thank you, bb! :)

An excellent, albeit sad, story and well told with your great photography. I, too, enjoyed the final cleaning up sequence, it is amazing how engaging these little figures with non-bending arms can be. kaethe
