Is it polite in here to ask ? I am curious to who is getting what
-
Well, after I bought one of the Santa specials I was bitten by the Christmas theme bug (suprise, suprise) and coupled with Playmobil putting the forest Advent Calendars on sale I have been chasing past releases of Advent Calendars and Christmas sets and will be happy with whatever I can get.

We're not having a tree this year, as we'll be visiting our in-laws in Houston, and all their trees got blown down in the recent hurricane. :-\
-
I know it is just Thanksgiving but i have already started to shop and i see a few others have also . I was wondering what is the community getting this year ? It might help to identify the recipients sex and age so it is clearer on the situation . I asked and people are posting and i have read in other treads people divulging presents , so here is our playmobil list .
I am getting our oldest son (7.5) Pirates , 4294 Light house, 4290 ship, and 4295, 4292, 4291, 4293 smaller sets to compliment it .
The middle son (5), do to his silly personality and high silly spirit will be getting Circus . 4230 Big top, 4321 band, 4233, 4234, 4235, 4236, 4237 acts, and a few 4238 clowns . We will save the 4232 trailer for a birthday or something .
The youngest (3) who is much more serious will get the Things that do things, 4323 large delivery truck, 4321 race car-shop, 4312 car-wash, 4318 garage, 4442 car with go-cart.
I am hoping my Mom or Mother in law will get them each a 4320 controller for the cars and trucks :crossed:
My brothers son (7) i am still trying to figure it out . He is a big computer kid and his dad does not play with toys :'( . Maybe the Target Roman arena ?
My brothers daughter (1) i may get some 1.2.3. but i am not sure yet .
My sister in laws boys (6 & 2.5) i will get some romans and pirates for them
My wife will get the 4199 Fairy garden, 4196 flower wheel barrow, 4195 carriage, 4197 rickshaw & the 4198 water lily . in each set i hide either chocolate , earrings, a bracelet or other jewelry :shhhh: That way i am psychologically making her like playmobil blue boxes more ;)
PS: Martin tell them to get a charlie brown twig tree ;D
-
Well, my kids will be getting their presents sooner ;D as we don't celebrate Christmas with presents; but Sinterklaas (5th of December).
Tristan will be getting the new police car, the policewman with robber and some other, smaller gifts.
Hopefully he'll be getting the Policemotorbike as well.
Brynn will be getting the Police-quad. This year we will be concentrating on Thomas the Tankengine-toys for him.
All in all a rather small affair compared to others - but more then enough, I think.

Uhhh, just be sure to include the receipt. That may be what he thanks you for... Is he into computer programming? There may be a programming book he'd like (granted, at $50 a pop that breaks your $30 budget).

I would never survive the unwrapping, before she opened the box and discovered the pearl.
In grand Gen X fashion, I bought a lot of junk for myself. Like the South American Native skeleton cave (3040) fresh off a store shelf.
My kid plays with the stuff (until she breaks a Playmobil rule and the stuff goes back to the basement--ex: sitting down on my Easter Rabbit scooter and telling me to suck eggs broke a rule). But she gets so much junk anyway from my mom (that soon winds up strewn about the house) that I don't feel like a "Bad Dad" for monopolizing the goods.
Or maybe I do, hence the need to explain.
Parenting in America is nuts. If you walk into the wrong house, you'll find Mom and Dad praying to their child and trembling when his will explodes...

Ya what is it called ? and i have to ask if it is something that can be pirated of the net ? My brother seems to be able to get a lot of stuff . The generation X shiver me timbers kind of guy :shhhh:
-
Perhaps a stupid question, but since I do want to know the answer:
what is Gen X ???

The generation of people born after the baby boomers, aprox. from late 60's to early 80's
Also as a state of mind if you view your child's education as a way to increase their maximum earning potential it also helps to classify you as a Gen. X'er ( money is the most important thing )
-
My wife will be getting the Guinea pig pen set so that she'll have more Guinea pigs (she already has the orange Easter egg Guinea pig set) and a place for them to live. She really likes the Guinea pigs!
I don't think I'll be getting anything Playmobil related under the Christmas tree as my wife says I've too much now. I plan on doing a Direct Service order next week, however, so maybe I'll put those items under the tree.

I also read criticisms that we "Gen X'ers" are cynical, compared to the "highly-motivated millenniums" (aka "Gen Y") (1980s - 1990s) who were brought up under highly structured, career-focused regimens by so-called "Helicopter Parents".
But, really, Bogro, the whole "gen-thing" is boeuf-merde invented by American marketting firms. They categorize generation groups in an attempt to target advertising.

I guess that makes me a non-Gen then ;D
Thanks for the explanation.

i think i will offer only on playmobil set this year - to my nephew carolina, 6 years old.
my step-son and my other nephew started to have ither "digital" interests and i think ipods will be more suitable (they are both 10 and they both love music).
:) on the other hand, i decided to offer some playmo-presents to my playmo-clickies.
:yup: as they are still in boxes waiting for their new "cabinet" i started to think they should have a christmas dinner too.
:) this way they wouldn't feel so unhappy with their present situation.
i started to buy some playmo-food for them on ebay - bread, cheese, sausiges, hams, pineapples, bananas, wine bottles, etc.
i will be filling their boats (they are all pirates) with food so that will not be so angry or hungry on christmas.
-
That's very thoughtful of you, cachalote.
-
Wow now there is a thought . Get presents for the klickies . I need to go get some Micro sets  and those Mini playmo present boxes

Hello, Rasputin ...

Our two daughters are now young ladies who have their own homes and careers. Neither of them are very interested in Playmobil. We have no grandchilden. So, the only big kid is me ... :klickywink:
I have made a very long list of new Playmobil sets that I would like Santa to bring. It will be interesting to see what he can fit into his sack for his sleigh ride here to the Virgin Islands.
You asked a great question, Rasputin ... But, I won't know until Christmas morning.
All the best,
Richard

Victorian Dollhouse for the 6 and almost 4 year old to share (and me to play with too). Gifts to others' trees includes lots os 1-2-3 playmobil to those in the 1-2 year range, as well as some of those pull back motor cars and a set of penguins from direct order. The dollhouse will have some modern style rooms though as I couldn't find the kitchen and living room for that series. I have the church for my kids ... but I think it will wait for next year's tree. This year's advent calendar is the animals in the forest. Not as good as the first pink advent calendar but nice to have some badgers and extra animals. I hope the fairy advent calendar will make over to Canada.... it looks great. I have to get the creche and 3 wise men out this week from the Xmas storage boxes ....

Hi, do you mean the Victorian Mansion with the front foyer and rooftop porch or the re-release without it?

After making big Christmas purchases, Richard has his Canadian-Mountie-garbed henchmen inject him with serum that erases his short term memory. This has to be true because every Christmas Richard shows us pictures of his white beard to prove he is Santa.
-
The new Victorian. I think it is smaller, which is better for me as my house is small and the girls' rooms are small. I like the old fairy castle best of all the mega big sets but it is just too big.

It appears that you've found me out, Timmy ... :xmascheer:
(And, have you been a good little boy this year?)
Ho! Ho! Ho!
-
Aha !!!
So you're Santa, Richard! But don't worry - your secret is safe with us.
I'll only tell my wife, my kids, sis, her kids ... and ... :-\
Bogro

Well my secrecy is going to cost you Richard , and i think you know what ;)

Hi,
I will be gettings some very very rare Japanese Playmobil items from the early seventies (will be in the 3rd edition of the Collector). I'm expecting these rarities soon, hopefully I can put them under the Christmas tree
-
<*)Well, I have tried to be a good "old girl" and decided that Santa is going to bring me as much of the Jungle theme as I can get my hands on! So far under the tree is the Jungle Ruin 3015, the jungle dino bones cave set, two gorillas, the monkey tree, a set of natives, #4564-native special, set 5754-crocodile boat, and the hopes for a few more sets. I love it all!! Two of my grandsons have all ready been trying out several of the pieces. They seem to like the Indiana Jones looking figure.
My daughter has invested in the entire Victorian Doll house theme for her little girl, and for her son she has bought the dino sets, the Egyptians, and some odds and ends for other themes.
Talk about spoiled kids and grandkids!! My husband teases me about my "thing" for Playmobil and I just tell him that I would have gone into a blissful state of delirium if I had had these things as a child, instead I played with a tin bandaid box with rocks inside, and clothespins/ rubberbands for a homemade gun, stringing buttons from my grandmother's button box was another improvised toy. I never felt deprived because my mother always tried to get us one nice toy for Christmas along with our pajama sets, and then she would spend hours sewing dollclothes for our doll.
I love Christmas and children and am thankful for Christ's birth and the opportunity to celebrate the true meaning of love, not the commercial side of it. Hope you all have a lovely holiday and have stockings and trees full of blue boxes....but also lots and lots of love.

Well said, Janice. May the Christmas Spirit warm all heart everywhere.

I got three klickys for Christmas, at work ... Two in a blister pack (two pirates, I had already gotten, from a playmofriend, by the way ... they're very welcome! :yup: ), and one Special (another "Fletcher", very welcome one as well! ;D )
Not to say that my Blue Goblin arrived  Though, once grandma's here for Christmas & New year, I won't have chance to make pictures or stories, until January. Only the ones already shot, that are a bit dusty but, well ...
It's nice that grandma came. It's the fourth year, I think. She's been coming all ends of years, since 2004, and, if I'm not mistaken, 2002 and 2001 they came too. (Grandma, and my older aunt, with whom grandma lives.) Christmas = family, aye? ;)
(Internet obstacles mainly made me reduce a lot the rythm ...)

I have to say that was always a bit curious, mr. Rick, about your children ... I wander: how was it to raise children with a playmo-collection (like that of yours)? Were they never interested?
(My father always ... tried to convince me to like Tarzan adventures, but it never happened.)
I'm afraid of having kids, and having trouble with the condition of my playmo ... Collector's and children's things don't fit together. (My father's miniature war airplane collection went on my cousin's hands (before I was born), and nothing was left! ... (I never knew it.))

Yes. Actually, it was Stefanie and Jennifer who got me interested in Playmobil when they were both quite young.
They liked being able to "dress" their klickys with various hats, capes, collars, cuffs and belts. (That was back in the pre-print days when any klicky could be whatever they wanted them to be.) Their favourites were the western ladies, the western houses and the horses. Even though we had a castle and a pirate ship, they liked the western theme the best. Maybe it was because we lived in Texas ... ;)
Here are some of the sets that they enjoyed the most .. see attachments

Nice! I grew up with the saloon, the drugstore, the sheriff ... In my childhood (79-87 ...), my favourite were western. About 82 I began with pirates ... We hadn't knights strong, in Brasil ... No castle. Only dreams (and dioramas, at the sides of boxes ...). I just got my first timbered house a few days ago! 8} I'm delighted! So, I went into pirates, and hospital, for a while. And racing carts. But after 1988, and 1990 (when I moved to Portugal), it was pirates (in Brasil), and medieval. (And citylife, because my cousins used to go at my dad's, to play ... And they liked citylife. But my favourites were pirates, by then.)
Oh, there was a time of Playmospace ... :yup:
So nice to remember these things.
Interesting to know that you went into playmobil because of the girls ... Who could tell? It's nice.
