Title: Inspiration for Steck Castle creations?
Post by: starhorse on July 21, 2008, 14:59:29
Hello everyone,

Over the last year I started getting some Steck Castle pieces.  I haven't really had time to mess with them until now however.  I'm wondering if anyone knows of some good Castle custom images online that I could use for inspiration as well as a reference point?  Basically if you know of a great custom Steck Castle, I'd love to see it.  Thanks!

Thanks for all the inspiration!  These are just brilliant.  I sadly don't have too much Castle Steck pieces yet, at least not enough to attempt some of these wonderful customs.  I'm going to keep adding to my collection though by picking up sets through Ebay auctions.

It seems like some of the pieces in the customs pictured are only available in rare older sets.

Another thing I noticed was that they appear to be using some of the western fort steck pieces, which is really cool.  I wondered if those would work with the castle pieces.

Thanks again for posting all these, they will definitely inspire.

You will need to get the Steck palisade connector (30 20 889) which only came with the Eagle Rock Outpost set 3028.

The same piece (I think it must be) is much easier to get when you try to find an older "Zoo" set. It's 3-4 times in 3634, which is more often on autions than eagle rock.

EDIT: OK, it must be a different color, but if that doesn't matter its ETN is 30 08 1040 (Thanks, Heather!!)

playmofire, that one is simple yet fantastic.  Very impressive.  Concerning the highest tower, what sets do those roof pieces come in?  I think the only one I've ever seen it in is an old houses set.

That's very cool.  Are those roof pieces still available through direct service?

I'm assuming they made the roof by just using 4 of these ^

Wow. :o

I am really enjoying this topic! :D

The inventiveness and sheer quantity of castle pieces some of these collectors own is simply overwhelming.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed pics so far. Please keep them coming! :-*

Hello, Simon ...

Hi Richard,

I haven't got Eagle Rock myself, but I managed to find an old fort wall+ clip (Always trying to get rid of those as fast as possible ::) ).

Here are the two resulting pictures with the zoo part.

The connector is NOT exactly the same color as the wall, but the difference isn't striking, either.

AND: The clip fits perfectly leaving no space for wall wobbling. With two clips you should get a very stable connection.

I think the 2 parts come from the same mould, but you would have to ask someone who has got both sets to compare. The number on my zoo part reads (mould number imprinted in plastic: 3197010 3 followed by the letter A in a circle). Maybe an Eagle Rock owner could compare with his part.

Question 1: Yes, they are, but quite expensive (Almost 4 Euros for one corner section) of which.....

Question 2: (Yes,)...you would need 4 - to get the roof in the "beach castle" picture.

If that is the Zoo part in your photo, then it is exactly from the same mould as the Castle Rock part !!!

It was a little difficult to really see the part clearly in the other photo that you posted.

Thank you. It's good to know that this part was produced for more than one set.

All the best,
Richard

but in thoses cases, when u want to make ur own castle.. is it not usefull to make ur own parts? like u want to have it? i seen a few topics where people creating moulds and then making their own stuff.. i think that should be possible for walls too.. so u can make very big and high and unique stuff.. or would that be to exensive???

These "Playmobil" buildings from Malone (Javier) at the Spanish Forum (Playclicks) (http://www.playclicks.com/playforos/) are NOT made from Steck. They are cast buildings, from the master craftsman ... Malone !!!
