Hey Richard,
Checkout Alladin again--
In the original Arabian Nights tale, he is Chinese.
But, Disney does sort of seem to portray him as Mughal Indian or Damascus Arabian depending on its mood.
EDIT: Spelled Knights not Nights.......

6. Bring back the BiPlane (but this time, give us a real pilot’s helmet and goggles.
Wonderful list, master Rick! ... The only little penny I'd like to add is that they shouldn't simply bring back the biplane, but make a cilyndric one ... (Althought there were, I think, "square" ones, the cilyndric is more classic ... :) )
But bringing that one back would be nice already (and easy).
I, uh ... Never made a list. This one is a great one, and it's very much like of somebody who likes those little "lead" soldiers? (...) Very interesting. Thanks for bringing it here (again?), so that some who are new ( ) can come to know it :yup:
(&, If I was to make a list, I wander ..., what would I wish ... :!: )

Ps., @ m. Tim
Hi, Tim: I got almost all of your post in little squares ... What language (&/or_alphabet) are you using?? :hmm: )

Hey, Timmy ...
Hey Richard,
Checkout Alladin again--

Aladdin might be Chinese (see below), but The Book of One Thousand and One Nights seems to be Persian ... Click HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Book_of_One_Thousand_and_One_Nights) ... :klickywink:
Aladdin seems to be Syrian. Click HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aladdin) ...
Ali Baba seems to be from Ancient Arabia. Click HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Baba) ...
And, Sinbad may also be Persian. Click HERE (http://) ...
Regardless, none of the three seem to be from India! Too bad that I didn't know that when I created the original list ...
However, now that I've been corrected, let's get back to thinking about Playmobil sets that would be fun to have. That sounds like a lot more fun than spending a lot of time conjecturing about Aladdin's lineage or bashing Walt Disney ... :klickywink:
Any new Playmobil sets that you would like to add to the list, Timmy?
All the best,
Richard

On the subject of Ali Baba, I'd like to see PM expand its Fairy Tale series. It probably won't happen--as the Fairy Tale Series seems intended for the fantasies of little girls--but Mythological sets would be fun.
Like a Theseus, Ariadne, and a bull-headed klicky Minotaur.
Or, more European fairy tales--ones without a prince!
I feat that any deeper Persian/Indian themes have run their course--considering the Marchenschloss started out as "Arabian Knights" but changed track halfway.

The wooden frame biplanes of the 1st world war were more often rectagular than cylindrical in frame behind the pilot, as it took less material. Engines could be in-line (square), rotary or radial (circular).
Some early planes like the French Nieuports did have rounded frames, and the German Albatross series had oval frames.
Richard, did you forget a Cricket Match for England????

Richard, did you forget a Cricket Match for England????
I did indeed, Martin ...
A Playmobil Cricket Match would be a great set to have !!!
Thank you. Let's add it to the list.

... Mythological sets would be fun.
Great idea, Timmy !!!
Definitely something that Playmobil should consider.
-
They did have the older looking Arabian on the flying carpet with the magic lamp. In the stories he's young, but staying that way wasn't one of his wishes.
-
i would like to see some of Aesops Fables done . There could be a whole set of animal headed klickies not just wabits.

It has almost exactly SIX YEARS since this list was first posted on the web.
5 September 2002 to 11 September 2008
Look at the ones in RED. These are the ones that have been made during the past six years.
Which ones will be made in the next six years?

I LIKE YOUR LIST, GUS !!!
-
The only thing in my list is that it is (as well as I) too much Western civ..
Here's a conversation between Knightmo & Tim, that brings something that I miss in my list. And in my hall of interests, too. Maybe if Playmobil produced something it'd change ...

I like your "Geographical" list because it can reach the Pacific ... (Easter Island 8} ), Australia ... It'd be interesting to have giant turtles of the Galapagos. The American pre-Colombian civilizations. And India.
