Love the page turning effect.

Neat little catalog. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Andi. Interesting browsing for next year's spending! :)
-
Thanks, Andi ...
One of the great things about these catalogues is that you can download and keep them for future reference.
Thanks again and all the best,
Richard

The catalog is nice!
Not 3D, but nice!
EDIT
Did you see the free gift on page 10? ("Gratis")
That looks great! Really nice if PM keeps increasing the quality of free gifts.
(When I started, it was just a deck of cards)
-
I disagree, Timotheos. The (three) decks of cards were specially made to be handed out as free gifts.
This free gift seems to be a "ex"- VEDES Birthdaygift.
But I have to admit: it is a great set (specially with the new underwater-world sets)!

What is that book or ? on the last page next to the collectors bible ?

There are two different books. One shows the world's history with Playmobil scenery. The other tells Playmobil's (Geobra) own company history - from the beginning until 2004.

Well, if you disagree, you can have my 5 decks of identical playing cards with the chimney sweep on the front! US $1.00 value. What a treasure!
I began wondering whether PM was trying to discourage from spending more--"spend less, or we'll unload another pack of cards on you."
-
Thanks LHAAP
I take it the "Geobra company history" is on the right side for 16,95 ?

Of course I should have written which one of them it was :-[ Actually it's the book on the left which is Geobra company history and the book to the right is "the history of the world" :)

Thanks LHAAP

The company history isn't a bad deal. You get a lot of information about the early marketing and development strategies during the 1970s and early 1980s.
After that, the details soften up and the pictures take over. Controversial stuff--like the decision to go to system X or change the style of horses isn't mentioned. You get some good photos of manufacturing equipment, but nothing like a "day-in-the-life" in the process of designing a new Playmobil theme is addressed. Maybe stuff like that is considered trade secret.
It focuses on marketing, I'd say, and has the sunny-side-up flavor of a corporate brochure. But, I enjoyed reading it.
Does anyone have a critique of the world history book? It's not available through PM USA. Do they do a good job at the "customizing" for the scenes?

I've just ordered the book so it should be with me in about week! :D
At the publisher's website (where I've ordered the book) there is also a new book available this autumn. It's, just like the predecessor,
a diorama book, this time with animals and from the same author (Richard Unglik).
So, Timotheos, please be patient and I shall give you my comments on the world history book next week :klickywink:

The German one is just called "30 Jahre Playmobil".

And the new book available this autumn.
"Die Welt der Tiere" or The World of the Animals.

Wow! This book looks and sounds very interesting. 8-)
- 94 pages
- 230 x 300mm
- many colour photos
I put the publisher's description through babelfish to try and get a better idea of the content.
It's a bit of a mess but you can still get a rough idea:
The author - just like Playmobil a child of the 70's - places books behind for his alive Dioramas with Playmobil figures and sets her afterwards computer-animated in scene. In its new book it is occupied in this way with the world of the animals, beginning with the dinosaurs over horses and cats up to fabulous creatures like the unicorn. In playful way he presents the individual animal species in their respective habitats to us.
Can't wait to see some inside pages! :D

Definitly THE book for Tim, I guess

Playmofire ought to get on this bandwagon (a book on fire rescue).
These are just individual collectors drafting books and either selling the idea to Playmobil or selling the idea to a German publisher?
PS. The History of the World book is available from Amazon USA.
US$78 from a used book vendor..
Or you can order it from Amazon.de (17 Euro + 30 Euro shipping).
I once ordered a ton of Belgian comics through Amazon.fr. Amazon is really good about international shipping. And, shipping goes up in chunks, so you can play with your order to get the most stuff for the same shipping.
Wow, Americans, we have options again!

That's a great idea you gave me, master Tim!
Take a look at these books at Amazon ... :lens: , maybe even Brasilian bookstores that bring books from out there.
(So simple, but I think I'd never have thought of it ...)
The world has become in a possible size even to me! :)

Today I have received the book that I mentioned last week in this thread: Abenteuer der Weltgeschichte (Adventures of the world's history).
It's a book made by Richard Unglik, apparently a French Playmofan. Read more about Richard and the creation of the book here (http://www.playmofrance.net/guppy/pages/richard.htm). It is a book by, as Timotheos described it, an author who has sold his ideas to a publisher but you can't just make a book without Playmobil's permission (read more about that on the link above).
The book shows some very nice dioramas from the stoneage to today. It also explains the history of the world with the pictures as important companions.
The cover of my German copy is different from the French one (See attachment).
Alltogether a very good book but unfortunately only available in German and French :(
-
Hi LHAAP
You mean the book is in both French and German or you mean the book is also available in French?
Thanks for the idea, though. I read French but hadn't thought of checking out Amazon France for an edition!
EDIT:
Wow, check it out:
