KLICKYWELT CLOSED ...
Just got this message from Bennain over at GW-PC:
Hello,
I have closed the Klickywelt.
Thanks for visiting.
Regards
Bennain
We don't know what happened ...
-
Very strange! :o
All of the posts have been removed and Bennain's goodbye topic is all that remains:
http://www.klickywelt.de/aus%2C-vorbei%2C-ende-t28803.html
I wonder what happened. :eh?:
-
Apparently internal arguments led to some members being expelled and after that klickywelt shut down. It's a shame as I think it was the most active board, except maybe apart from planete-playmo, although I haven't visited that for some time so I don't have any recent experience of the level of activity there.
-
Again ??? I never knew that Germans were that hot-headed ??? 8} ??? ...
I really wonder what happened over there ...
Bogro
-
it will come back I think
-
Now there has been posted a little more information about what has happened. Apparently, Bennain (owner of Klickywelt), has received threaths and that's why the forum was closed immediately. Besides the information about the closing of the forum, one of the Admin's writes that they are working on a new plan/searching for a solution.

They are always on top when it comes to tournaments... :P
But seriously, I am shocked... :o
I haven't read in klickywelt for quite a time, so I have no idea what happened (...this time... ::) ).
It is very strange, especially as I know most of the guys personally... ...and they always got together quite well in the "real" life... but on the boards.... :-\ ::)
Well, I am quite sure, all those german fans will get together somewhere else...
...to wear down the next board administrator... >:D

I'm sorry to hear that. :(
Hope everything returns to normal as soon as possible! :crossed:

What did they threaten to cut off his supply of Playmobil ?

Klickywelt is a blast--but yeah, by blast I mean explosion!
It's tormenting--I was reading one thread in German about African armies during Roman times. To me, all seemed well, until it began to dawn on me that the posters were enraged with the thread creator, who I gathered had presented a stereotypical view of ancient Africa or else was promoting said view. I never figured out exactly, even with the help of Babel-fish. Inevitably, the thread was locked by the administrator.
I wonder what sort of threats Bennain received? Seems a shame he would bring the whole site down just due to one crank. I mean, a threat is upsetting, but come on, these are playmobil collectors:
Threatener: "I'm going to call your children and introduce them to American-style humor."
Receiver: "My daughter is a gorgeous supermodel and here with me now. Would you like to talk to her? Careful--she eats little boys who still collect toys for dinner."
Threatener: "I... I... I..." [Hangs up]
Maybe that's why my German kin came to America. There was a big flame war at the Bier halle, the owner shut the place down because he was so ticked off, and my ancestors "showed him" by moving to America.

Fights only end when someone turns back. However, once it's begun, very difficult to hold.
Besides the information about the closing of the forum, one of the Admin's writes that they are working on a new plan/searching for a solution.
Maybe to open another board ...
Which makes me think ... Was there many things in archives, and so on? What kind of solution could be for this kind of loss? (However, many things from Klickywelt I never could see, because you had to log in, so as to be allowed to see ... No evesdropping

Some of them might find asylum here ... (Not the fighting ones, I hope!, but the ... orphan ones :-\ )
It must be a horrible thing to loose a place you use to go most everyday ...

Now please tell me the Administrators and Moderators here in Playmofriends are a bit more level headed and less sensitive to these trivial reoccurring problems . Over at playmoboard he just lashes out with out much provoking and now to shut a wonderfully useful site over an unexplained threat. What was the person going to call the admin out to a fight like in high school or better yet did he get a playmobil dynamite in the mail .
-
Well ... Maybe one or another fighting one ... Master Tim could use someone else to fight with :P
(Don't take it seriously, Tim ... Actually, it has always been nice to follow or have dialogues with you here, and many of them come from controversial thoughts, which you always put wisely or honestly -- when not so wisely -- and without exception constructively.)
Which makes me think that some "fights" are good things to forums ... But I still can't figure out so well how come that it ended in threats :hmm: I think I won't try to figure out, anyway.
"Forum" always makes me think about the ancient cities, back in Roman and Greek times, when people went to a square, and debated on general subjects, usually concerning the neighbourhood. In Brasil, we have "reuniões de condomínio", which people in one building use to do, at least once a year, to elect one adm ... Among other things. Noone seems to like them, and many times there are uhm ... lets say that people get passionate about their own requests and demands. Maybe people had tough times in Greek ágorai, too :(

It only takes a couple of clicks to remove topics from the public eye and place them in a hidden zone only the admin or moderators can see. This means they can be easily restored again at a later date. ;)
What did they threaten to cut off his supply of Playmobil ?
;D

Thank God for that!

Hello, Michael ...
Thanks for the update.
It does look like Klickywelt is coming back online ... But, under NEW management.
Bennain seems to be gone ... ???
All the best,
Richard

Hmm... I interpret it as follows: Bennain is out and will shut down klickywelt next tuesday.
They just reopened a part so that open trades can be finished up to tuesday. :o
The moderating team is discussing any options to save klickywelt, but I am not sure they already have any ideas... :-\
We will see how everything is working out...
Sylvia, we finally DO need a german section at playmofriends... :P

Sylvia, we finally DO need a german section at playmofriends... :P
Actually, that might be a good idea, Socrates ... :)9
It has worked fine for us to have a Spanish section at GW-PC.
(And, I think that Sylvia probably understands about as much German as I do Spanish, so she shouldn't have too much trouble overseeing the administration of a German section. However, Sylvia would need some really good German speaking moderators to help her, just as we have really great Spanish speaking moderators to help us at GW-PC.)
Unfortunately, it's a lot of work to administer a forum like Playmofriends in someone's native language. I can just imagine that it might be even more than a full-time job to administer a forum like this in a person's second (or third) language ... 8}
So, even though it sounds like a good idea, it could become a nightmare to manage ... :(o):
All the best,
Richard

There were some great customs on klickywelt, fire and rescue, pirates, Roman amongst them. Some of these were also on Customize it!!! (www.playmo-convention.de/board), but many weren't. Customize it!!! is dedicated largely to Playmobil customs and when klickywelt opened it was suggested that it would soon be absorbed into klickywelt, but not now.
A German section here would be a very good idea so long as it doesn't overload the admin of PF.

I think that "overload the admin of PF" is a very real and legitimate concern, Gordon ...
-
Besides, you would need some mods that are fluent in German - and considering the track-record of German Playmo-forums :-[ They seem to be somewhat volatile :'(

I think for a smoothly running german board you need about 5 admins and 15 street workers to cover the hard cases and to calm down the street fights... :yup:

Is that overall or per board member? ;D

Is Playmofriends a pacific board? ... I have no experience with boards.

You know that would be an interesting topic. Where are you from, what blood line and what is your back ground - history . I know very little about people in here . Maybe if people knew each other better they could get along or at least find a kinship with somebody ( oh no i was just insinuating " CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG " ) never mind.

My folks came from Italy, in the end of the XIXth :hmm: I can't see how this would help us!

Apparently, Bennain (owner of Klickywelt), has received threaths and that's why the forum was closed immediately.
WHAT!!! :hissyfit: I've seen lots of quarrels on Playmo-forums and split-ups as result, but this beats it all! Threaths with the closure of one of the best PMB-forums as result??!! I'm used to checking the German forum regularly and though I don't read all the threads, I haven't noticed anything that seemed to indicate such a sudden, drastic (and disastrous if permanently) decission. Probably others have more inside information, but IF people running the German forum really were threathened in such a manner that they had to close the forum, then these threaths have a serious impact as well on MY personal life, since these threaths would then be the the reason I' can't read/view anymore my main source of Playmo-information, and Playmo being one of my major hobbies.
So, if there really are Playmo-"fans" who are causing the German forum to close by threathning people, I feel myself personally attacked and I'll say to them: Be aware of what you're seeding, it just might turn against you! :hissyfit:
Hundredthousand (splinter)bombes and (rocketpropelled)grenades!! All hens on deck!!

The number of locked threads on Klickywelt irked me a little. Even when I couldn't read them very well, I got the impression somebody was hitting the panic button a little too fast.

We have this in the USA--they are called "Subdivision Committees". I'm the president this year of my neighborhood. It basically amounts to people calling me around 8PM to demand that I fix human nature and restore the Garden of Eden.

All hens on deck!!
This sounds as if you're plotting something foul! ;D

"All hens on deck" (Hadoque)
This sounds as if you're plotting something foul! ;D
That was marvelous, Gordon ... ;D
I am crying :'( from laughing so hard ...
-
Perhaps we are both being a bit unkind, Gordon.
Especially if Hadoque hadn't intentionally meant to have a "play on words."
However, I know that my posts in "Babelfish" Spanish, German and French must have given many native speakers of those languages many mirthful moments.
So here's to Hadoque ... :**:
First, our admiration for having the courage to post in English.
Second, our thanks for a good laugh.
And, third our apologies for having fun at your expense (if you really meant "hands" rather than "hens") ... ;)
All the best and please feel free to laugh at me ... anytime,
Richard

No problemo, amigos! ;)
I don't mind you had a good laugh with what I wrote, I'm even pleased, hehe!
When posting I knew 'hens' might be interpreted otherwise ('All chickens on deck' I suppose, as 'hen' is in Dutch (like in English?) a female chicken) but I decided not to alter the word, as that's what 'hands' sounds like when cried out on a ship. The actual phrase in Dutch should be "alle handen aan dek" (handen = hands) , but is shouted/written as "alle hens aan dek" So I supposed this is the same case in English.
And yes I was plotting on something, Gordon, though not on an egg, hehe  (let's say my fleet of Louis XIV-warships had gone to alert-level Defcon 2 during the weekend )
Cheers! :**:
-
Hen is indeed a female chicken in English as in Dutch, Hadoque, and in the British navy the call is "All hands on deck!".
I'm glad you didn't mind my little joke, although having looked at your posts here and on other boards I was pretty certain as your English is so fluent with none of the strange translations you get when using internet translators such as Babelfish, that you had purposely written hens, although I wasn't sure why!
Like Richard, I know other people have had a laugh from some of the internet translations of my posts. On one German board, "fire investigation unit" was translated as "fire the investigation unit"!
It would have been good to see your fleet in action.
