TEN YEARS ...
On the 13th of April, ten years ago, Garden Wargaming (http://gardenwargaming.com/) became a Playmobil website.
To celebrate our first ten years on the web, we will feature a different Ralf Gemein theme for each of the remaining nine months of 2008!
Playmobil artist, Ralf Gemein (http://www.john-doe-kunstraum.de/en/Egemein.htm), has created more than 200 custom Playmobil sets. Ralf's sets use only Playmobil parts, so they can be duplicated by anyone who can take a Klicky apart!
Around the time of the turn of the previous century, when the British Empire was at its greatest, there were magnificent Durbars and Jubilees. The first theme pays tribute to this golden era. Click HERE (http://gardenwargaming.com/) to join us in the beginning of our ten year celebration ...
All the best,
Richard and the entire GW staff

That is so cool to see some of Ralf's creations neatly grouped together on one page!
It makes me realise just how prolific he has been - and this is only one of the historical periods he has covered.
Congratulations on reaching this wonderful milestone, Richard. :)
GW was one of the first sites I browsed when I started to become interested in customising and wanted tips on figure disassembly. I remember being rather in awe of everything I discovered on those pages and it inspired me to have a go myself. 8-)

Hello, Playmofriends ...
And, thank you Andi and Sylvia for your generous compliments ...
It's ten years today (13 April 1998 to 13 April 2008)! We now begin our year long celebration.
As many of you may have already noticed, Playmobil artist Ralf Gemein has created his Rorke's Drift theme especially for our Tenth Anniversary! Thank you, Ralf!
Each month we will be posting a complete collection of one (or two) of Ralf's themes at Garden Wargaming (http://www.gardenwargaming.com). (The theme for mid-April 2008 is already up today)
There may even be a few surprises ... ;)
Thanks to everyone for making Garden Wargaming a huge success during the past Ten Years!
BTW ... The Garden Wargaming website has had more than 100,000 visitors from all over the world.
And, a BIG thanks to Yoyei and Playclicks (http://www.playclicks.com/playforos/) for joining with us to bring you this bilingual Forum!
And, also a very BIG thank you to Sylvia and Playmofriends (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php) for all the help in moderating this Forum and registering new members!
Thanks again, my friends, and all the best,
Richard and the entire GW staff

NAPOLEON'S EGYPT
Napoleon was only 29 years old when he led his French army into Egypt.
Playmobil artist Ralf Gemein has created an amazing "Playmo-sketchbook" of the land and people of Egypt during the French invasion of 1798 to 1801.
Please join us HERE (http://gardenwargaming.com/RalfGemein/NapoleonEgypt.htm) to see 31 imaginary sets of Playmobil figures from this interesting period of history.
Playmobil bazaars, pyramids, mummies and Mamelukes await you.

SPECIAL SPECIALS
Playmobil's "Specials" were first introduced almost fourteen years ago (1994).
During that time, Playmobil has created about twelve "new Specials" every year.
There have been Pirates, Fancy Ladies, Mummies and Ghosts to name just a few..
Playmobil artist Ralf Gemein has created thirty-three original "Special Specials" that were never produced by Geobra!
Please join us HERE (http://gardenwargaming.com/RalfGemein/Specials.htm) to see these 33 imaginary sets of Playmobil Special Specials.
All the best,

MARATHON
The Battle of Thermopylae (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Thermopylae).
The "300" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0416449/) ... "300 Spartans" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055719/)
Most of us probably know about this incredible historical event from the films/movies ...
Now see it come to "life" through the magic of Playmobil artist Ralf Gemein (http://www.ralfgemein.de/seiten/johndoe.htm)'s amazing custom Klickys!
Ralf has created twenty-eight original "Playmobil sets" that were never produced by Geobra!
Please join us HERE (http://gardenwargaming.com/RalfGemein/Marathon.htm) to see these 28 imaginary sets of Playmobil Klickys from the Battle of Thermopylae.

Hey, Timmy ...
Hey Richard
In your introduction to Ralf Gemein's Greek/Persian customs, you used Marathon and Thermopylae in the same sentence. I guess you meant it could represent either battle?
-Tim
Thank you very much for your excellent question !!!
I did NOT do a very good job with the title of this theme ... :-[
Ralf did not intend for this theme to only represent the Battle of Thermopylea.
I took a bit of "editorial license" because I thought that most folks would be able to easily relate the theme to the "300" cinema presentation.
I realize that i probably should not have done that, as Ralf's beautiful customs really encompass a much broader period of Greek history.
Perhaps a more appropriate title would be "In the time of Marathon (490 BC) and Thermopylea (480 BC)" or maybe even better ... "In the time of the Greco - Persian Wars" (499 BC to 448 BC)
Thanks again, Timmy, for helping to clarify this for everyone.
All the best,
Richard

They're all very good costumes by Ralf, as usual.
He kind of likes the XVIth century days, which is nice to me, because so do I, and Playmobil produced pratically nothing in that period. (Except for the first medieval (and only civil medieval) collection that, so good it was, it could be played both as medieval & Renaissance (...).)
Send him greetings from Playmofriends, Richard!, if you have the chance to do it :)
Tell him we too are enjoying it a lot! (At least I am!!! :D, as well as most all of us that aren't there but visit you guys through your links ;D )

These two (attached) were inspired in Count Bogro!!!
(I'm kidding, Bogro ... ;D Actually, inspired in 3345 "Graf", I believe.)
