:wow: So are the finished pieces of the same material as regular Klickie plastic, or is it soft resin?
-
Wow :o
I'm speachless.
-
Me too!
-
Fantastic. :wow:
Judging by this selection of his work, he's an incredibly skilled modeller and artist.
His historically-inspired customs are superb, but he has also shown that he has a flair for recreating fictional characters. The Rocketeer is instantly recognisable.
I also love the church fonts. Beautiful work. :inlove:
Thank you, Andi, for showing us some of Malone's wonderful creations. :)
-
The buildings are amazing. Really splendid work. I wonder what he's goig to do with them?
-
:o !!! amazing work. Playmobil should hire him for their design department. His helmets are great. I really like his using the fan (a ladies fan) as the basis of the wings on the helmet.
-
Wow :o
I'm speachless.
So am I. :yup: Quite astounding work. :(o):

Hello. Andi ...
i want to start a international collection of customizer work !
This is a great idea, Andi! Are you going to start a special "International Collection of Customizer Work" section on your Klickyworld (http://www.klickyworld.com/) website? (Also, do Malone and Yoyei, over at the Spanish Playclicks forum, like the idea too?)
During the month of April, we will be featuring ALL of Ralf Gemein's amazing customs at Garden Wargaming as part of our Ten Year Anniversary Celebration!
If you are thinking about adding Ralf's wonderful work to your "International Collection," please wait until after April and please don't forget to ask Ralf if it's OK with him.
All the best,
Richard
-
Truly amazing work! A very skilled modeler and sculptor. I am curious what the context of the buildings were and how large the total piece was. Also if the buildings are hollow or foam filled or just backed, at any rate thank you very much Andi for the pictures.

I wonder if he's willing to produce some for felllow collectors  I am totally in awe by everything and would LOVE to own a font !!!

Hi,
@Richard: i had ask Malone for using his pictures to post it here, he said its ok.
Ok i wait for add more and think about to find a place at klickyworld.
But i thought the last days about a customizing archive at klickywelt.de.
Every member had at klickywelt.de a galerie to post his own works, i want to give my for a archive.
We will see.......
Are there a problem with posting many pictures ? hmmm
Before i post the next i must ask first about the picture rights and download some pics, too !
world greets
Andi

:'(
beautiful.

Yes, I know javier and his amazing work. He is a fantastic customer and best person.
-
Javier is quite a skilled molder . those helmets are superb. It is hard enough to make parts from existing pieces but to be able to create work like this is playable art. :wow:
-
That's the most incredible and perfect thing I has ever seen in customizing Playmobil. I would not have asked for Greeks if I only know how Malone makes these things. He creates his own Playmobil. :wow:
-
Of course, I prefer the Greek and Spanish conquistador (monion) helmets best.
-
Great work. :wow:
I liked the chain mail around the face and how he found a way to make helmets fit onto the head without hair by creating the head cap.
-
They are good & the Gauls are especially good!
-
:wow: 8} :wow: ;D :wow: ::) 8} :wow: :love: 8} :wow: 8} :wow: :wave: 8} :wow:
-
OOOOEEFF! I fainted....... Here I am again!
This is the most impressive thing I have ever seen!!!
Playmobil custom addons in production on E-bay!!!!!!!!!!!
Like the rifles and muskets!!!
Muskets I could use for my armies..... would need about 250 of them, and bayonets would have to fit!!
Hmmmmmmmmmm ::)
Shame my soldiers can not stand with gun on their shoulder!?
KEEP UP THIS HEAVENLY WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Those are truly amazing!
Does he have a client who pays for those works, or is he purely doing it for himself?
I'm guessing that the cathedral alone would cost over $1000 in materials.
It's a shame he can't start up a production line for us to make spare parts orders! He makes PM look lazy.*
* As in I still can't believe PM hasn't produced a decent great helm.

-
The CSS Huntley is amazing - exhibition class!
For those of us who can't model to that standard, has anyone thought of selling helmets etc. on line?
With my interest in the Victorian Army I would love a tropical helmet.
-
I do believe I've seen some of his creations on Ebay a month ago or so. But I don't recall what they were sold for ...

Hi, I started my collection of great customizers some time ago :D
sadly, David (Warrensde) was "retired" I had not any of his wonderful american soldiers
But I have a complete collection of Malone pieces (It's easy, he is a very good friend). and I hope get more items from good customizers (I am really bad with cast, epoxy, etc..)
Well Malone has some new items and I put some pictures. First his new knight helmet and sword
-
his new arab, i love it!!!!!
-
kepis for USA sodiers!
he has made with diferent colors: yelow, greay, red, white
-
and finally a tschako. It was a german police hat from first half of the XX century (1900-1960)
I hope you like them
sorry for my english ;)
-
Thank you. Aleon, for sharing your beautiful Malone (Javier) customs with us.
I'm sure that I'm not alone in wishing that Playmobil would produce some of Malone's great historical accessories.
Thanks again and all the best,
Richard
-
Thank you Aleon for sharing those photos with us, fantastic work! He is a real craftsman, no a real artist!

So Aleon, if he is an friend of you, maybe you can help me to get some further information about Malone's great work:
What I understood so far is that items a duplicated by casting; this part I understand (although my casts does not look like that perfect, but anyway I understand the procedure).
But making a (good) mould needs a master. As many if his items have such regular shapes and ornaments I'm wondering, if he is doing his master pieces (in a double sense) by hand or if he is using some Computer Aided Design tools and e.g. a 3D-printer? Can you give us some more insight into his technique please?
Also what kind of material he is using for his master pieces? (The casts a probably made from resin, that seems clear to me, but what's stuff is the master from?!?)
-
:wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: I'm speechless. :(o):
-
WOW!!! :wow:
What can I say?
WONDERFUL!
Thx & thx for sharing!!! :yup: :yup: :yup:
(Do you make stories or dioramas? ... 'Ever thought 'bout ... ;D )

Wonderfull artwork
I also like to know a bit more about the technics used please
respect

he makes all master pieces by hand, no 3D design programs.
He is a craftsman. Next month I go to his town to visit and I will make some pics of the plastic materials he uses.
Ops, he finished his moorish serie
the pictures:

...he finished his moorish serie
¡Hay que bonita, Aleon! They're beautiful!
THanks for the pictures.
All the best,
Richard

he makes all master pieces by hand, no 3D design programs.
:omg: By hand?!? How does he make e.g. those regular structures e.g. on the shields depicted above? Does he use an protractor to get this regular distribution? And how does he ensure that every ornament looks exactly the same? What tools does he use (those must be very tiny modeling tools to produce such fine grained structures)
Does he use cast techniques for making duplicates or is each single piece an original? If so, how does he ensure, that every piece looks like the same as the one before?
He is absolutely a master no doubt :wow: so even more a how-to tutorial of his master pieces would be really really an enrichment here. Do you think it would be possible if he shares some of his knowledge, by text, photo or even better video? (Can I take an apprenticeship at him :D?)
-
Hello, I will take pictures when I see him but he use almost all things for make a master and after he uses cast.
for example he use buttons for make shiends.
about the casting, he shows how he works many times in spanish meetings.
here you can see a tutorial:
http://www.playclicks.com/index.php/moldes
but he uses profesional machines because he works in this topic in "real life". he has a good vacuum machine, etc..
-
Those technique seem very similar to these http://www.mofreaky.com/page_customizing/content/mace_tutorial/mace_tutorial.htm except he incorporates the use of the vacuum for the tinniest detail . I am still trying to bablefish it to read it all
Thanks for the info on Malones styles . Great stuff
-
Thanks for the tutorial link at Yoyei's Playclicks, Aleon ... :wow:
And, you seem to be absolutely correct, Rasputin. It appears to be quite similar to the technique that Barth uses at Mofreaky (http://www.mofreaky.com/page_customizing/content/casting_material_notes/casting_material_notes.htm), that Andi uses at Klickyworld and that we use at Garden Wargaming (http://gardenwargaming.com/howto/10.html).
For Playmofriends living in the United States, the easiest way to get the supplies you need may be directly through Alumilite (http://www.alumilite.com/).
All the best,
Richard

Thanks a lot aleon for this info! :D
It really helped a lot. The hint about the buttons really made calm me down and explains a lot.
Unfortunately I do not understand any spanish word on the site you referenced but the pics also helped a lot.
The technique shown on the pics is quite similiar as the one I described in my tutorial (http://www.jr-x.de/playmobil/customizing/casting.php?page=2&lang=en) about casting, but differs in one single but for me very important thing: using a vaccum machine. Just when reading your post I was thinking on some research I made some time ago about a suitable vaccum machine for doing better castings. I actually found some but the drawback was the price: several thousands (!) Euros. So I droped this idea.
When I then saw the pics in the spanish forum and spotted the vaccum machine a glance arise in my eyes: such a vaccum machine we actually do have in our kitchen!
Never spend a thought about using it for this purpose.
Many thanks for giving me this hint. :yippee: With my next casts I will for sure make some experiments with it hoping for some better results.
-
vacuum machine is good because it elimates air bubbles in the final pieces
The best i think, is that he found dyes for get pieces silver, bronze, etc like playmobil ones.....
he has made a lot of tutorias in spanish meetings but... is quite more difficult that you imagine. I spend a wekend I all my piezes was terrible... :P
-
Aleon, any info on his and others styles would be greatly appreciated . Links to sites, names of products ( colors, resins, mold silicone ) and hints ( like the button trick & kitchen vacuum sealer ) would be quite informative to me and I am sure many others who would like to continue or start in the mold making art .
Thanks :wow:
-
The motor of an old refridgerator is a vacuum machine
with an old coocking pot wich you can close vacuum
and a bit of handyness you can build your own vacuum machine
friend of mine uses it for his moulds to make candles
@ Little Jo , how were the results with the resin you got from me in wolfsburg ?

personal note :
the basic techniques all quite the same
so are the products used
it comes to a lot of practise and patience and time
and sharing info on tips and tricks
thanks for the Links Richard and Aleon
picked up some new tricks

Although I found a good supplier (the mentioned vosschemie.be respectively their German company part seems not to be only willing to sell to private people just to big dealers, because they do not even answer my e-mail request) for resin -- Breddermann-Kunstharze (http://www.breddermann-kunstharze.de/) -- who have an online shop and are selling beneath different resin types (solid, transparent, different colding/hardening times, etc.) and silicone also some color pigments for giving your casts a solid color, I still use your resin quite often because the hardening time and afterwards the consistency of the material is pretty well (cf. the Neukadur-bottles in the pic ;)).

Hello, Jochen ...
The Alumilite Corporation (http://www.alumilite.com/) is looking for a representative in Germany for their products. If you, or anyone else is interested, contact Carol at carol@alumilite.com .

Jeremy,
Do you know under what name Malone sells his work? Does he have his own site? Thanks for any information, I for one would be happy to support the work of someone with his skill and artistry.

no problem ! just swear me you 're not going to make copy of his work by mp and i will give you the link !! we gonna "fright" for the same auction lol but never mind i will do all to suport my friend even i cannot buy his fantastic material because of competitivity !!!
Not a problem Jeremy! You do have me at a disadvantage since he is local to you, I believe whereas I would be a foreign buyer!

Four more ...
The third picture shows Malone's stickers (decals).
Notice How Malone was able to get the difficult color white on the sticker used on the last Klicky.

Thank you for the information Jeremy, it is a sad fact of collecting/accumulating Playmobil that we are all competing against each other to some degree most of the time. :'(

Since we've resurrected Andi's post from almost exactly two years ago, I thought that maybe we should also show some other great customs.
How about first showing some French and Indian War customs that David made about five years ago? (More photos from other customizers to come later.)
The original post is HERE (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=154.0) and the two pictures are re-posted BELOW.
