Title: Playmobil Press Release from 59th Toy Fair
Post by: LHAAP on February 10, 2008, 21:01:24
Hello Folks :)

In case somebody hasn't seen it yet - Here you have a link: http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Link-Page?cid=FACTS2008_en.
What I'm linking to is Playmobil's newest Press Release from the 59th International Toy Fair in Nuremberg (In English of course!). There are lots of interesting information in it. For me it is wonderful to know, that from 2008 Playmobil products, in Scandinavia, will be distributed by Playmobil Benelux instead of just a "distributor". In the latest years Playmobil products haven't been that easy to get here in Scandinavia and we haven't had a catalogue with Danish, Swedish, Nowegian and Finnish language as in "the old days". Maybe we'll get that this year ???

Have a nice evening,
Lars

Thank you Lars, that was very interesting.

It seems odd that the U.S. is such a troubled market for PM, I think it speaks to a real difference in perspective. When I watch people at Toys R Us they are all over at Lego looking at Harry Potter or Indiana Jones and seem less interested in things that are more real world.

POTC caught their attention, but this is a very distorted version of pirates and capitalized on special effects and so many other new toys just don't seem to require much from the kids.

Thank you for sharing the article.  I wondered when the Toy Fair was, so was glad to hear something from it.

Any idea what "positive developments in the distribution subsidiary" means (for the US section).  Did some new distribution strategy occur in 2007?!

PLAYMOBIL USA - Overall economic developments in the USA at present provide cause for concern for the future.

As if it is not hard enough to get Playmobil here. come on people tell a friend . the US is a sleeping market giant

I think it's mainly the wobbly Dollar that gives Playmobil pause for thought. They're thinking in terms of Euros, and the Dollar just isn't a good investment.

Playmobil Canada: "Cooperation with a new major client is cause for optimism for 2008."

I wonder who that is, if not Chapters, who have had Playmobil since last Christmas at least.  With any luck, it's someone who actually has stores in St. John's (oh wait, maybe that's not so good... for my wallet).

Hello, Heather ...

I'm hoping that it's the BAY ... I know that you don't have a Hudson's Bay Company store in St. Johns, but you do have a Zeller's!

Fingers crossed!

BTW ... the Bay in Victoria has carried a small number of Playmobil sets since they took over Eaton's from Sears. However, I've never seen any Playmobil in Zeller's ... :(

All the best,
Richard
