Title: Hello from the Pacific Northwest :-)
Post by: gloobey on January 18, 2008, 22:42:27
Hello all,
I've just signed up, and am happy to be here with some fellow Playmobil enthusiasts. My son got me into the toys and now he's almost nine and I'm still avidly collecting and playing. I run LGB, Playmobil and Marklin trains and exclusively use Playmobil for buildings, people, etc. The majority of what we have is Castle (steck), Trains and Space with some Pirates thrown in for good measure.

I have just completed a new layout in my office and will be posting pics soon.

Glad to be here,
Steve

Hello, Steve ...

A BIG welcome from the warm and beautiful United States Virgin Islands!

Happy to see another electric train enthusiast here at PF ... :)

Where are you in the Pacific Northwest? The United States or Canada?

Hope to see lots of you here.

All the best,
Richard

Welcome from another recent joiner also from the Pacific Northwest - or maybe north-wet, at least this year!

I really enjoy the pictures of your train layout, I really like the 2 level concept and how much stuff you have packed into the "small" (nothing's really small when your using G-scale) space.  Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the welcome everybody! I'm in Port Townsend Washington, which is approx. 3 hours drive west of Seattle. It's a beautiful area to be in, my trains look great out here :-) I look forward to sharing more pics. When the weather improves a little I'll some outdoor shots to post.

Welcome Steve!

I hadn't realised you could drive 3 hours west from Seattle and not be in the sea! My first ever trip to the US started in Seattle, staying with friends in Bellevue. The views from the Space Needle were breathtaking.

Looking at the Google map, I realise you mean a 3 hour drive, but not all due west. Looks like you can drive all the way south to Tacoma, then north again on 16 and 104, or take a ferry to Bainbridge Island and cut off a loop. Your town looks pretty remote - where do you get your Playmobil stuff from, Target or maybe online shopping?

Now I'm off to look at your trains pictures!

Hi Steve! :D

Welcome to PlaymoFriends from the Scottish Highlands.

It was my children who first got me interested in Playmobil too.
I'm one of those 'late developers' who, regretfully, didn't have any klickies to play with as a kid... but I'm making up for that now. ;)

Thanks for introducing yourself! You'll find there's many people here who share your love of trains. :)

Welcome from the warm south - Oregon!
I was in Seattle last October for a dance but rarely get that far North. When I was younger we visited a relative at the Coast Guard station at Neah Bay Washington - its on the very tip of the Olympic peninsula. So far away from cities you could see more stars than I had ever seen before.

That's right Martin, it's a 3 hour drive west from Seattle, but alot of that is driving down around the Puget Sound. It's still another hour and a half due west driving to get to the ocean from where I live though. I'm on a peninsula so I get to see water on three sides and then mountains. It's a beautiful area. If you're interested in seeing what it looks like, run a search on Port Townsend, Washington's Victorian Seaport.

98% of my Playmobil purchases come from Ebay and Ridge Road Station. The rest is in Seattle.

Hi gloobey,

Welcome to Playmofriends.

I also got in to Playmobil after buying my son the Refuse truck 3780 nearly 9 years ago now. He Stopped playing with it when he got his PS1 a few years later but I just kept on collecting it.

Garry.

Thanks Sir Gareth!

My son discovered Pokemon and Gameboy, along with LEGO. Now the Playmobil is pretty much mine to do with as I please. He still plays with the animals from Palymobil. They seem to be a big hit with him amd his friends (all age 7 or 8).
