I recently got a Santa's Sleigh in the 5755 set, and was suprised to discover that the seat is too short for Santa to sit in, and too big for the elves.
Is this a cock-up on Playmobil's part? What happened to the "everything fits everything" design theory?

I think they had in mind the guy needs to loose some weight and had to stand on the back for some added exercise while all the toys were loaded into the seating area . ;D This theory would also benefit those poor working rain-deer. If he were standing on the back his whip is too short to reach them . :whip:

I think that they had some smaller people in mind to sit in the sleigh
hope this link works

Hello, Martin ...
The only "cock-up" in this set is that they didn't give you a " ... little old driver so lively and quick ..." You know, "That right jolly old elf." They gave you the BIG fellow!
That sleigh was originally designed for the children.
please see attachments 3391 and 3689
You could use a dwarf for a "little old driver/elf."
please see attachment 7849
Or, you could get the BIG fellow's proper sleigh.
please see attachment 3604
All the best,
Richard

Thanks Martin. I have the Christmas carry-along and didn't realize this outrage until you pointed it out.
You would think Geobra would treat the patron saint of Playmobil, Santa, with a little more respect. :'(

I realize that the two of you are having GREAT FUN "busting Zirndorf's chops" over this one. So, I think that it's time for someone to come to Playmobil's defense. And, I have volunteered!
I also have the Carry Along Holiday House (set 5755). And, if you will both look at the attached image, you will see that the elf sits properly in the sleigh while/whilst Santa stands properly on the runners (just as if he were going to "mush" a dog sledge)!
This is the design of this set! Now get into the "Holiday Spirit" and stop picking on Horst's poor employees!
Happy Holidays to both of you! And, we love y'all, even though you're both just like a couple of mischievous kids ... :P
All the best,
Richard

But the elf doesn't sit properly in the sleigh - he rattles about loosely because his feet won't clip onto the footrest. Normal children fit, but not the elves with their curly-toe shoes - and Santa doesn't stand "properly" on the runner, because if you clip his hand onto the bar for safety, his feet don't sit straight on the running board. >:D

I do like you, I do! I just DON'T like ebay sellers including my set pictures in their auctions and using up all my bandwidth, so I had to disallow direct links. Sorry! Link to the set page, and everyone's happy. I even give you the code to paste, since I like you so much.

Obligatory beg: I don't suppose this set came with instructions? Yea or nay?

Gaaah! Everybody knows Santa would never ride that way! My mom took me to the North Pole when I was eight, and the elves weren't even allowed to touch the sleigh, except for the maintenance crew and the flight engineer.

You are both absolutely correct! What do I know about Santa ... ;)

My guess is they included the small sleigh to make it look more "Christmassy" without needing to increase the price of the set.
The full-size sleigh would have been nicer and perhaps more practical for play purposes, but it would also have made the whole set a lot less affordable.
IMHO, the best thing in that set is the elves. Those curly-toed boots and floppy hats are absolutely adorable! :elf:
Next to the light-up Christmas tree, they are my favourite item from all of the Holiday sets.
I've bought some elves from the DS and was thinking of painting some of their trousers and hats in different colours in order to get a larger group that don't all have the same uniform. :)

I like the curled shoes, too. I'm waiting for those to migrate to the adult klickies! Long, curled shoes really were a crazy 14th century fashion--maybe conceptually similar to the "droopy drawers" causing such angst and soul searching in America.

Sorry Michael.
He isn't.
If you look closer, you'll see that his beard and moustache is way to short.
But he seems to have same twinkling in his face though - perhaps he's his brother???
Are you, Richard. Come on ... you can tell us ... we won't pass it on.
Honestly 0)
