Title: Playmobil Knights 2026
Post by: StJohn on May 29, 2026, 00:25:43
From the very beginning Playmobil was offering knights. For the last couple of years Playmobil knights were Novelmore, Burnham Raiders, Sal'ahari Sands and Violet Vale. Now the Novelmore adventure is over. It was innovative, exotic and awesome, the work of visionary zealots with big plans, but they were cut short by Geobra management, as we have been told by members "Resinberg" at KW and "collectobart" in this forum. Yet knights continue, and their newest incarnation (announced in September last year (https://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=18256.0/)) came out this week. Time for a first look.

I am curious for the new castle 72112, but cannot (yet) afford the price or the space it requires.

The same goes for its dark counterpart 72113, a reissue of the old 4836, which was, back then in 2009, just half of a majestic architecture complex (with 4835). On its own, I think, it isn't quite the same.

But I did go out to the shops to purchase the two new caparisons. They did not disappoint!

The printing in 72119 is crisp and sharp, as good as in the olden days. I regret that the designers thought of mixing gold and silver armor, but this is easily rectified.

This bright knight has a dark counterpart in 72118:

On closer inspection, printing is again really good. But it is a pity that the shield is a sticker instead of print:

The dragon design strikes me as being more Asian than medieval European.

It is a simple world, just good against bad, blue against dark, lion against dragon. Novelmore was much more sophisticated. But I can't help myself, I still like it. Playmobil knights  :inlove:

Finally, I also purchased the new troll 72116:

New color, so worth the expense, but I am nevertheless troubled by the fact that this new troll is poorly manufactured. Mine has one arm with proper motion, but the other won't rotate at the wrist unless I force the arm out of shape. I just inspected my other trolls of the same design (9340 (https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30%2067%203923) and 6593 (https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=p6593a)) and they do not display the same defect. There is no denying: Playmobil is moving backwards ...

Still, I hope you all enjoy a new knights' world! Who knows how many more will still follow  ;)

Thanks for the review :)

I really like the new dragon knights...  They are AWESOME!  I am also disappointed about the shield being a sticker. Did not expect that.

The others seem cousins of those from a few years ago - the mix of the red, blue and gold hurts my eyes :P   (that helmet in gold and light metal is plain weird, but like you said, fixable)
But I do like the striped blue torsos. I suppose a couple with the shields will have to keep the mix of colors..

I don't have any YET, but I intend to buy those same ones you got - system WHY castles (even if masquerading as system X) are out, to the great relief of my wallet.

Another sticker, I'm afraid to say. The neckpiece had to go, so more to see of the pretty stiped torso.

Thanks for the great review and pictures! That printing really does look nice.

In addition to the figures in the sets you got, I think the figures in Set 72113 look great. I definitely plan to get that set at some point, but now I would assume that the shields in that one would have stickers as well. :(

It's nice that they finally move away from novelmore, but this batch is just as uninspired as the final novelmore batch.

It's not giving us any new castle. The Lion castle is pretty much the Falcon Knight castle of the batch BEFORE that red/blue and gold eyesore faction.
The walls are slightly different, putting the gate strait in front of the tower but it's pretty much the same. Only with one less clicky, no horse and less other objects too.

Seems there's no large castle at all even, just this small castle and a tower and both just repeats. Just like the last castle in Novelmore was a repeat. Of a more recent small castle.

I'm not against an old faction returning, and a red blue and gold combination CAN work well if done right. But they didn't do it right last time, and it looks even worse this time with the odd mix of silver and gold. I don't see a single soldier either, only knights.

The dragon faction is more original, I will give them that. But too fantasy for me. Too busy. The serrated sword in see through red does look pretty nice, I think that's new.

But no, it's again just really easy on my wallet since I have no interest in any of this.

That sword isn't new, but it is nice! ;)

Thank you :)

I suppose I will keep one of those shields, for the sake of completion.. but... I really don't like the combination....

Interesting stuff! A bit uninspired, and I'm still disappointed by the step down in quality with the heraldry for the last few waves, but hopefully all of this is a step in the right direction  ;D

I think the lion and fleur de lis fit in well with past knight series. The dragon seems abit too removed from traditional heraldry. Great to see jousting knights again. Looking forward to their release in the USA.

The heraldry does look good for the lions, like the last similar one did too. Horse barding, shields and banners all look great. It's a great colour combination there. But it falls apart in the clickies both times.

I'd have just kept them in silver armour. Maybe with small gold details painted on for the knights. Then again I don't see any soldiers with them at all.

Then again I don't see any soldiers with them at all.

Maybe they'll show up as an add-on pack?

I like the 2 knights, especially the red and blue one (well, I agree that the figures are the weakest link in those sets).

I'm not generally keen on the fantasy stuff, so I don't like the Dragon Tower (and if we were going to have a re-issue I'd have preferred to see 3269 ).

Is the main castle new? It lacks something - if they wanted to make it smaller for either cost or space concerns, I think it would be better to open up for play value

No, the main castle is not new.

It's a smaller version of the 4866 Red Falcon castle, which was already the smaller castle of that batch opposed to the Yellow Lion castle.

It's using the same parts for the castle, save for the sticking out parts this one has on the walls on both sides of the gate. It does have notably less wall pieces and the part with the roof is also clearly smaller.
Also no forge, one less clicky, no horse, no furniture, less weapons... It's just a big downgrade. They would have been better off simply reissuing the 4866 castle really.
