I suppose we'll find out in a few days, but perhaps it's a new game of some kind.

Lego releases a "smart brick" and now Playmobil will have klickies that talk?
Can't kids use their imagination and make noises and voices anymore?

I strongly suspect that both of these innovations will have been ditched within a couple of years

More useless (and expensive) blinkie-winkies, going farther and farther away from what playmobil is.... My guess, anyways, but we never really liked those (as everyone knows by now, trains and that remote controlled car excepted, for SOME reason)
And making dumber and dumber kids. In a couple of years, they won't even be able to decide what to eat. :(

So, it looks like the stickers and backpack piece might be radio-frequency devices, with the sound files stored in the backpack with a battery and speaker, and the stickers used to indicate which sound to play. The video makes it seem as if some sounds could be played from the stickers themselves, but that seems unlikely.

At ast you'll be able to hear the klickies shouting for help as Playmobil sinks out of sight.

Feels like a modern version of what Hasbro did for GI Joe in the late 80's / 90's.
GI Joe had a series of figures called Sonic Fighters which were regular repainted figures with huge sound making backpacks with four buttons which made different battle sounds. They would later use the same technology to make Talking Commanders and replace the pew pew sounds with phrases.
I'm happy that it's a separate piece, so you can still have regular playtime with the figures.
