Title: Playmobil X WWE
Post by: Redmao on October 30, 2025, 15:17:23
Playmobil goes American wrestling. Looks like it's part of their new partnership with Mattel.

Different, but that doesn't mean better.

Macho Man Randy Savage
Andre the Giant
Jake the Snake

Stick with the golden era of the 80’s

We need a proper wrestling ring and folding metal chairs

It’s all real, I swear

:o

I still think they should be playmobil, instead of going all over the place. That said.. this is WAY WAY better than barbies and monster highs - at least the klickys are usable - the ones in the pic.

Thanks to a moronic dubbing (which is a crime beyond words) of the wrestling thing when it appeared here on tv, I never watched it, though I knew a few of the wrestlers..

And of course Hogan, at least from the A-Team and Rocky ...

I foresee loads of interesting parts too.

They will probably be expensive as Tartarus, as usual..

...I swear

So did I!

These four are Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Rhea Ripley and Hulk Hogan, according to the article Redmao quoted.

A little before I was watching I think. I remember the Hart Foundation, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Ventura was an MC along with McMahon? Rowdy Roddy Piper and a couple of the others already mentioned. Goldberg and Zeus were later I think, even had a couple of kiwis - The Bushwackers, but they weren't that great.

Well they definitely should pay tribute to Vince McMahon who’s business savvyness propelled the WWF .

Also a shout out to Gene Okerlund , what’s a match with out the iconic ring master

I'm not quite as hopeful as you are about that for this theme. :-\

They don't even look like playmobil with those face prints.

Also wild that they'd make a clicky of Hulk Hogan considering his blatant racism.

If that was a criteria then practically none of the historical figures from any culture would be acceptable.

Exactly

As the saying goes ——“Always remember that when you're pointing your finger at someone, you've got three pointing back at yourself.”

Well this is certainly a choice.

I can only assume that this line will mostly be boxed characters like they did for Naruto with a ring set as the big piece of the theme.
I'm really curious about how popular wrestling is nowadays to justify buying the license.

I think it will depend on price too. If they are reasonably priced then they'd make good bits for mixing in with the new superhero theme either as superheroes or villains.

Come on, we know these will be at the top end of their prices.

I'm equally curious about what child would prefer Playmobil WWE characters over the Action-man style figures that Mattel makes (since surely they want to act out fights?)

What child wants an overpriced  80’s Porsche rally car toy ? Are there children lining up at toy shops demanding the Citroën 2CV

Me think Playmobil is continuing taping into the adult collectors market and they are buying the bargain licensing rights. Seeing (as mentioned ) that kids will likely not know what classic WWF was (beyond “Hulk is a Racist” because TicToc told me) I see this as yet again a LEGO style alternative market attempt.

Unfortunately though if a company buys “bargain bin” licenses, then shows low sales volume, then claims we told you so, that  is a poor marketing strategy in my opinion. What next Licence …..  Fleischer Studios or perhaps Yugo , or some other obscure old brand

Horst was clever and bold at a toy fair in the 70’s—  "Fortes fortuna adiuvat," or  "fortune favors the brave".

I agree the cars are primarily aimed at adults, but I think that is a bigger potential market (although that's just based on intuition). I also think there are probably children at the older end of the market who are interested in cars. I also imagine that adults who want WWE toys want them to represent the physicality of the wrestlers in a way that Playmobil can't.

Really?! :o

Just those in the pic are GREAT!! As long as now silly almost useless bodies, they will be amazing for parts....

I was personally never into WWF (my brother loved it) even though Hulk, Andre and friends went to a friends ranch to wrestle the bulls (male cows) . His father was a wrestling promoter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Time_Wrestling_(San_Francisco)

Even though I didnt watch it, I  still want them all and will probably get some for my brothers well .

I think Playmobil making re-issued sets and these adult collector sets is great, I just would hate to see them use the excuse (low sales) as justification for ending it when the choices have a lot to do with its market reception/debut

Also it’s hard to support these ideas if they never even get full distribution. The US never got Heidi, Azterix, all the new western, Victorian was cut short, will we get Monster High.

I expect high prices, printed faces, and several modern items. Maybe there would be some useful parts though.

Yes, to all of that.

Some printed faces are nice. IMO. Some WOULD be nice, if they stopped printing them on the forehead.

Yes, the misprinted ones are always the worst. :(

I agree that there have been some good ones though. Several of the ones with the new eyes are nice.

The collectable cars are pretty accurate and fit in okay with 1/18 scale cars. The figures wont do this and the old WWF fans are not going to be lining up for playmobil style figures unless they happen to already be playmobil fans. It's a smaller potential market than the licenced vehicles and as you pointed out earlier, they'll be selling these at high prices at a time when people are watching their spending more.

Those prints on the forehead have to be as high as the prices and the person who printed them.

I do believe there IS a vision problem there. It's not one - almost all the "spirit" heads are misprinted. It's sad.
