A big thank you to both sites, and whoever provided the pics in the first place :wow:

Chinese tea house - great

Yes, it’s nice to see more Asian sets and figures, it’s about time! I love the Viking promo pack, definitely getting that one.

And REALISTIC Asian sets, not those fantasy dragon Asians. I imagine that Korean king is selling pretty well, hopefully the Gnomes of Zirndorf are GETTING A CLUE

I wouldn't have guessed Peter Pan for Junior Disney, but I love it! I like Captain Hook in particular, as he looks really funny in the Junior style. He looks adorable with his silly hat and drawn on mustache. Peter Pan looks adorable in his silly hat too. :)

Tinkerbell is kind of underwhelming though, as she's a little too off model. Some characters just look better in the Junior style than others. Somehow it's perfect for Cinderella, Prince Charming, Flounder, Peter Pan and Captain Hook.

The girly-eyed ghost in the princess set is pretty funny, and I may be able to work the fossil excavation set into my big beach scene. I also really like the blushing valentine man in the mystery figures. The rollerblading girl with the dog is cute too, though I wonder how well she'd stand up. I don't think I'd buy it, but I like the guinea pig set too.

The woman looks Andean (Peru) but not sure about the man but most likely Latin America somewhere.

The pirate theme has definitely jumped the shark and the Asterix theme is a let down, nothing new, just rearranging existing sets. The Chinese Tea House is an excellent idea and hopefully a couple of them can join together to create a more substantial structure.

Not sure about gerkin girl from the fi?ures set and the re-coloured Mr-T head in the male series is so awful I have to have it. The white rabbit looks great, maybe we'll see more Mad Hatter characters in future, we got the Queen of Hearts some time back, maybe a card guard next? Robin Hood and the Sage are great additions too.

The thief in 71804 appeared earlier in the bicycle cop set 70573 so I guess he got away that time.

The French bakery and advertising pillar thing from the bug series look really nice.

Well.. my (almost) initial take...

Special+

Is it me or most klickys are repeats? WHY?  And the sets are expensive.

I like the gym contraption, but not enough to actually buy the set (not core, no space). And the toothfairy - WHY are there TWO toothfairies? - but need to see her better.. and I don't think I like her 5eur much.

Duo

Love the merpeople (no surprise there) - that one is a must. Also like the mummy.. And the woman farmer (but will probably pass on that one).

As to the cop set... repeats? I mean, considering the cop could be in uniform, I accept that one... but the other klicky.. WHY is he an existing (and quite original) klicky? Why not in another color? I mean, my wallet will thank them, but... WHY?

Figures s27

Really interesting and origial klickys in both... That "soldier type" in the boys is again quite specific, but an existing klicky, I think... And a LOT of skirts in the girls.. And I wonder about the klicky under the banana.. that's a speedo, right?

...no title?...

Klickys seem nice, but system WHY is a no-no, so...

The asian thing is beautiful.. - finally they got a clue? I have seen collectors doing that for ages..

The racing one... isn't that from an existing set?

Starter Packs

Expensive, and mostly repeats, I think. I like the klickys with the rabbits (is that a new kitten?) - and the woman's playboy torso!

Pet Collectable (uhm)

If the animals are existing ones.. No. Expensive as Tartarus. I really like the klickys with the Golden Retriever and the Border Collie.

Rescue

I honestly don't know if there is anything new there. We have far too much, and avoid buying these.

Pirates

WOW. Bruce. He is THE highlight of the cat... Gods. WANT.

The sets are so-so... And the klickys, again... The red woman in the ridiculous cannon raft looks familiar... I like the fat dwarf's torso... I think.

Ruby's house is system WHY, so.. no, though the klickys look interesting - if original (the white torso especially). Is the hammerhead the same? And please tell me the flag doesn't have "playmobil" plastered on top.

And then.. Bruce. No questions there. Ok, ONE question: buy one or two?

My life / pet grooming

(quite a lot of stuff with pets... all good, but a bit strange)

First.. IS THAT A NEW CAT MOLD?! I like the poodle in borwnish, and I assume there are other new colors too, but will need Tiermann's expert opinion on that..

Second.. a green mousie!!

I kinda like the hotel - CAT!! - beautiful klickys, especially the woman - but.. system WHY = meh. Totally pointless.

I also like the cat cafe - green mouse!! - though that too-pink counter is a bit much. I think the brownish cat thing is interesting. And the klickys (and apron!) seem beautiful.. especially the yellow torso - I am assuming it matches nothing, color wise.

The crippled doggie is a must, but the set is lameish.

The other klickys seem beautiful too.

Construction

Around here, same as rescue... Some of those DO look familiar..

Asterix

All the same? Except the roman tent color?

And the boat does not say "playmobil" on the side, right?

(and those prices?! are they serious?)

Dinos

Gods, I don't have the current batch yet! WHY? Seriously.. WHY?

All great looking (a new dino, new head for the brachiosauros?, new colors)... Though the sets... same old same old. I don't need/want more of those cars and airboats...

Klickys seem nice too.

Princess/Magic

(odd mix with dinos... )

Again, that new cat mold?

I find the printed ghost sheet interesting, and I am curious about the klicky. But.. 8 eur?!

Basically, the klickys (most) seem nice, but the sets are far too big and expensive.

Promo packs

Is the baby pegasus new?

The women with the car seem full of potential - but we don't need more cars...

Why is the nessie the same? If a different color, that would be SO bought. Like this... no can do. I do like the klicky(s?) and the boat decorations...

The explorer klickys seem awfully familiar.

Gift sets

They really went overboard with masks... the big head mask without the body is very weird.

I like the pencil klicky (minus weird hat, I mean).. and toothfairy number 2. Why?

123

I think the Peter Pan klicky looks great, and I have to wonder if Hook has a hook!

The astronaut Mickey would be a gorgeous klicky. But I find most of the disney ones creepy.

Miraculous

The bakery is beautiful. And perfectly useless, in system WHY. I don't know much about this "clip buildings", but looks to me that even if you bought 2 sets you can't really do anything with it. Which makes... perfect sense for a company who does NOT want people to buy stuff, right?

For a moment I was interested in the heads, until I remembered these are those silly bodies, so... Nice hairs.

I do like the advertising thing... I am so easy.

A few new animal molds, which is nice to see. Dinosaurs must be selling since this is the third year in a row with new releases. Nice to see the horses getting a rest this season and pets stepping up to fill the slot.

New animal molds are:
the large shark in Pirates - totally agree with Tahra it looks like Bruce from Finding Nemo.

In Dinosaurs a Brachiosaurus, at least a new head and neck with different articulation,  and a Stygimoloch which is super cool looking and a great size. The velociraptor set has a small mammal in it. I think it may be a new mold that looks like a ferret type. It might be the baby marmot but the ears seem different.

There is a new fluffier fatter cat mold in both the pets and Princess themes. The older style German Shepherd with a bionic leg in new too of course. They just swapped one of the articulated legs with a new mold. A number of recolors in the pets, plus some cool new accessories. The Saint Bernard in the dog and owner My Life series is a return of the previous exclusive mold of Josef from the Heidi theme. In the Princess theme the Wheaton terrier previously seen only as Copernicus in the Back to the Future Advent Calendar returns in a regular set.

I think the Nessie has different color eyes, but yeah they could have done it in a new color.
Yes the Pegasus foal is a new color.

For an animal collector this is again a really busy season. 2024 is the biggest year ever for new animal variations and it looks like they are going to keep going next year. Hopefully there will be a Wiltopia release in the second half with a new biome - my wish/best guess is Asian mountains with a yak and snow leopard.

In general observations that short counter in the style of the old Western theme bar seems new? It's in a couple of the sets but I don't remember it. Would be nice to have it in brown to match the older bar.

It's pretty clear there are a couple of things happening in company planning. They are going for lower price points and not releasing the huge sets, which is a smart move right now. They are also concentrating on themes that sell well while using as few new molds as possible. Not a bad strategy when they are facing a shrinking market for these types of toys.

:o  I didn't notice about Nessie.. but.. agh.
And the baby pegasus too?! Darn.

Thank you Tiermann :)

Yeah I can see that, they did a Bolivian not long ago. I wish they'd just come out and tell us!

Yes, that is new as far as I know - I assume it was specifically designed for the Miraculous set. I originally thought they had also designed a L-shaped counter for that set too, but probably it is just the 'long' counter and 2 shorts.

The Miraculous bakery looks a lovely set with some cute new items. It's a shame that it is a single storey and looks to be un-expandable (I looked it up and in the show it has an upper floor, but I doubt it was used so they just made the shop).

Chinese Tea-set looks very cute.

I like that the feast set from Asterix has been separated out - I don't have any of the sets, but if I was going to get one it would probably be this, since it ticks a lot of boxes without being the whole village.

Animals are, clearly, popular with children. Not surprisingly, but they are going in hard on it.

Well, that's utterly disappointing.

Like two nice figures and that's it.

I just hate it that they have to ruin the whole pirate theme with those creepy eyes on the clickies.

Those eyes are ridiculous. What is that supposed to be? Assuming they don't mean them to be all drunk/high/sleepy - that's what it looks like.

Some I just replace. Another problem is the cheap printed heads - and we get more and more misprinted, making them look like idiots.

I can't confirm it since it's hard to look up set release dates, but I was under the impression that they started doing the other types of eyes around the time the movie and the Youtube shows came out. I have no evidence to support that, it's just what I've been assuming as someone new to the hobby.

The Super 4 and The Movie eyes were not drunk/high/sleepy... I think this nonsense started on Novelmore, I think.. one of the factions, in particular... the purple/green wizards, maybe?

Hi there, NovaB!
As a fairly new Playmofriend you might not be aware of Playmodb (https://playmodb.org), a wonderful resource for Playmobil info, including release dates, part numbers, and links to building instructions for the majority of sets.

Are they done with the klickies with those non-traditional eyes? This is one thing keeping me from buying the new set.

Happy to see the return of Vikings in the Special Plus though. But honestly those special plus are not special at all, more like just any random sidekick klickies off the bigger sets, and the PLUS is simply unwanted.

The F?gures basically have taken the space of the Specials. Most of the Special Plus items could sit in other ranges, but I don't mind them as a bunch, but the branding is slightly odd.

Sad thing is...out of each series of F?gures....only 2-3 are nice and worth collecting. Unlike the days with just "Specials", you can buy a fleet of roman soldiers in bulk without all those fillers. All these new strategy results in less purchase, at least for me. :'(

Well at least the declining quality is good for my wallet. While this year I did purchase quite a bit after buying nothing for years, it was pretty much all older sets. Anything using the weird new eyes is instantly disqualified for me.

Here's hoping they release something good in the DS stuff soon for medieval or pirates, they really could reissue something new there again, been years since they did that.

Yeah, I don't like the Figures and buy them very rarely (maybe 20 in total?), but I guess they wouldn't be around for so long if people weren't buying them (and loads of toy companies make them)

Yeah someone must be loving the Fi?ures, they keep making them. The worst aspect of them for me is the fact that the good ones are only ever available at five times the price on ebay. PF helps with this of course but it's extra trouble to get the good ones so I skip most of them  :(

Wait a minute …2-3 times the MSRP ? Scalpers on auctions is bad enough let’s not encourage Geobra to get in on that action

Their profit already jumped from selling direct after all the brick and mortar shops closed up

The business concept that VW is adopting is not something I’d like to see Geobra duplicate. Raising the prices on future customers to cover the loss of customers is only going to loose more customers . It becomes a vicious cycle of punishing customers who are the lifeblood of any company.

Sheesh, I guess nothing good lasts forever. Guess I better start looking into injection molding at home...with the way Playmobil is going...
We all saw the writing on the wall when they bombed the PCC the way they did, maybe he older members can testify to signs older than that, where Playmobil was losing its original spark. I want to be hopeful that they can still turn themselves around, but I fear its just nostalgia tying me on to this. as annoying as price gougers can be, eBay and other collectors might actually be preferable than the company at this point... :'(

When are the Peter Pan Junior sets coming out in Canada? I feel like I never have a clue when things will be released. Is this just normal for the brand that things are kind of dropped on the site unannounced? I've been buying this stuff since late 2023, and just never have a clue when new product will be available.
