Just appeared on THAT site... link (https://www.facebook.com/PlaymobilCollectorsWorld/posts/326207575679897)
That screech you probably heard, wherever you are... was my wallet.
Hopefully detailed pics soon.

I guess this fits with the other 'adult' stuff they've been releasing - I'd guess it's even less well known to children (is it being repeated anywhere?)
I don't really remember the A-Team, is there anything we're expecting other than the van and the figures? My brother did have a toy A-Team van back in the 80s, which we burned on a bonfire 8}

Well... makes as much sense as Ghostbusters, ST or BTTF, imo. Meaning none.
I don't really remember the A-Team,
I do. I LOVE The A-Team - the fact that Dirk "Starbuck" Benedict was on it MAY have something to do with that  . So, to me, THIS is the best license so far. Though I love the dragons and vikingish parts too (I like the series I managed to watch, not so much the movies, but not a fan).
is there anything we're expecting other than the van and the figures?
I did expect Murdock - maybe they could squeeze a heli with him, but... and I always expected Amy to be left for us to do. We will (ignoring later characters that only diminished the series, imo)
Other than that... I would say no... I mean, I'm sure they could come up with a gazillion things from gazillions of eps, but nothing so distinctive, I think (the godzilla suit? :P )
My brother did have a toy A-Team van back in the 80s, which we burned on a bonfire 8}
That is a crime. :'(

I didn't hear you wallet screech over the noise of Brits hurrying back to Blighty, tahra! (UK govt. changed the status of Portugal as a travel destination from Green to Amber at short notice (4 days), so all those who didn't want 2 weeks in quarantine on their return had to get back to the UK by 4am this morning)
And the sounds of the bottom of a barrel being scraped are also deafening.
Whatever next? Dukes of Hazzard? Kojak? Starsky and Hutch? All these and more occupied the Saturday evening TV slot in my youth. Perhaps that's why I started stamp collecting? Mind you, a Telly Savalas Kojak figure (bald) would be nice!

"Starsky and Hutch" are already done-by me, lol!!!
-
This is fantastic news! Face and Hannibal seem to sport a brand new hair piece too! At first I thought it was the Rex hair, but it looks too different.
I'm pretty sure Murdock will be in there as well unless he comes in a hospital playset and you have to fetch him out for your next mission :)
That Scooby van sure is getting some kicking repaints, it's fantastic.
If it's popular, can we dream, hope for a Playmobil Kitt in the near future?!

I always thought gilligans island would be fun. I even made a custom Gilligan .Think of all the palm trees and island stuff that would be compatible with the pirates theme.

Well.. my wallet didn't, but I am sure many did. What a mess. Part of me is really sorry for people that see their plans so messed up, and probably some will end up without their money too... on the other hand... we COULD see this coming. People took a chance, lost. I mean, I am NOT planning to consider going to the funpark this year (with much regret) - because I figure something like this could happen, and I will not chance it. So, to each their own, I guess.
Probably just politics too.. which is sad. And it WILL mess up plenty of businesses, besides the people with ruined vacations. Meaning people's livelihoods. Which is also sad.
And the sounds of the bottom of a barrel being scraped are also deafening.
Which barrel is that? :-[ You know I can be thick, like... :P

YAY for the Dukes of Hazzard (yes, I know it's VERY silly, and aged terribly, but still... loved them and would get them). Unfortunately, the current situation would NEVER allow for General Lee. Probably not even Dixie. Sad state of affairs.
As to the others, I know the names, but never watched...
This is fantastic news! Face and Hannibal seem to sport a brand new hair piece too!
Yes... Not beautiful, but seems on (Hannibal's is crooked ::) ). However, I find it a poor option to give characters in one set (especially meant to be SOMEONE, not just random klickys) the same hairsculpt. Klickys don't have that many defining features, so... Of course, that is imo.
I'm pretty sure Murdock will be in there as well unless he comes in a hospital playset and you have to fetch him out for your next mission :)
 I actually hadn't considered a hospital! Well, nuthouse. That'd be cool too. I only thought of a heli.. (can we have Billy too? :P )
That Scooby van sure is getting some kicking repaints, it's fantastic.
First thing we thought about when pics of it showed. But no skill for such a custom - though I have seen several great ones. There were plans to get that dark one and.. improvise. But in the meantime the van was teased, so.. on hold. I can't buy the other one (no space - or spac€ :( )
If it's popular, can we dream, hope for a Playmobil Kitt in the near future?!
:) I don't consider myself a Knight Rider fan (it also aged terribly), truly. But I would love to get Kitt! A much better option than all the other cars and such (exception for General Lee and the A-Team van, of course ;) ) And Devon and Bonnie... (how about that Foundation truck? :o )
-
Yay! Better pics.
Murdock is there - so I guess it's just one set..
Preorder on that dutch store again: https://www.2ttoys.nl/products/pre-order-playmobil-70750-a-team-busje

Remember the show and was a fan at the time. In general the set doesn't interest me that much, but that BA head! Having a Mr T figure might just get me to jump on this one.

Indeed! That head is a must have! But damn... 75,00 euros... Too much for me...

75 euro for a van with 4 klickies :hmm:
I too prefer to spend that money on other Playmo, or on something entirely different.
A warning for the people buying all these soon to come overpriced licensed sets:
Do not put a conscious B.A.-klicky in a 'NCC-1701 Enterprise', otherwise you´ll end up with a VERY big expensive pile of crashed plastic. ;D

Sound advice.

The white eyebrows made me think that they added glasses to Hannibal. I was wondering if someone at Geobra thought that he needed some because of his white hair?
The inclusion of the suck puppet is pretty cool.

Three's Company
(If you didn't get this series in the UK, well, you didn't miss anything)

B.A. seems to sport the same style of beard as Heidi's grandfather – I wonder if it clips to the sides of the new head.

I’d love to see a playmobil Mr. Furley

This isn’t for kids - it’s for middleaged people like us who have money to spare and who have the occasional fit of nostalgia.
At this rate it’ll be Magnum PI’s turn soon ;D
I think they have a good thing going with these releases. Fans of the IP will buy them, and I also see on FB many collectors interested in cars that are also lapping such sets up. They’re doing a good job, yes - much better than what they’re doing with their homegrown themes.
-

And in a pink box, 'The Love Boat' ;D

I remember the A-Team and enjoyed it in my teens, but do we really want to see PM continue down the road of becoming an 80s retro toymaker? :'(
-
My opinion, but better to be an 80s retro toymaker than a pink/purple phone app accessory toymaker...
-
Sorry Baron, that went over my head! 8} Who's making those?
Bolingbroke, I agree with your assessment, but as someone who's just started collecting, what I'm nostalgic for is 80s style Playmobil!
-

Yes. Way better.
In a way, I wish they'd dedicate themselves to non-licenses... Still, I am happy with these, because unlike all the others, I AM a fan... but it makes no sense at all... like most the others :P
-
Like many other toy companies, Playmobil is turning towards the 80's for ideas as the Gen-X seem to be fuelled by nostalgia. Most American toy makers have been riding this wave.
We are adults with income to spare on hobbies with fond memories of our youth and the toys and properties we grew up with.
Sorry to hit the old nail again, but with many kids less interested in plastic/physical toys, toy makers turned toward us the collectors and nostalgic to keep their factories going.
I would have loved to have the A-team in Playmobil form as a kid. I used to put a white klicky in the yellow car, remove the room and pretend that he was Crockett from Miami Vice!
-
Sorry Baron, that went over my head! 8} Who's making those?
It was just a little a jab at most of the Everdreamerz and fairy lines
-
Ah! Yes, in that case I concur! Sorry, I know a joke isn't funny if you have to explain it! :-[
-
Looking at this makes me wonder what could be next from the 80s? The Karate Kid had almost as big a cultural impact as Back to the Future...I wonder if we'll get a version of Daniel-San and Mr Miyagi. Indiana Jones? Die Hard? Star Wars? Gremlins? Predator? There's a lot of scope.
-
Indiana Jones and Star Wars are already being done by Lego. But generally yes, Basie, I think you're correct.

The licensing would probably bump into what Hasbro is doing - unless there's a price point loophole (some items from Marvel and Star Wars got made by non-Hasbro manufacturers by raising the SRP significantly. Funko Hikari comes readily to mind, those were $80 as opposed to $50 for other licenses, and sometimes licenses are written by price point as well as size/master toy license/outlets/etc. Diamond did a similar higher price point product for its not-quite-Mego figures of various Marvel heroes.) Hasbro has been very protective of the Star Wars toy license in this scale, LEGO's stuff is a construction toy, and Funko's stuff are bobble heads with bases (as opposed to just figures with vinyl heads that turn, as that's a different kind of product with a different license agreement.) I would buy every last Playmobil Star Wars set they made if they ever did it. Indy, well, who knows. It'd be cool but it underperformed last time Lucas/Hasbro/etc. did a big push for it around the time of the Crystal Skull movie.
For 80s licensing, I'd probably look at LEGO Dimensions and anything they did for that could be viable. It seems like it's already been a proving ground - after all, we've already got Scooby-Doo, BTTF, Ghostbusters, and A-Team. Gremlins, Beetlejuice, Knight Rider, E.T., Doctor Who, Goonies, Simpsons, and a few others were licensed for LEGO Dimensions and seem like they could also be good fits. That's where I would place my bets - they've already proven the license holders are willing to do this kind of thing.
I assume Playmobil will want to do anything where there's a key vehicle (as we've seen with most of their US-friendly entertainment licenses so far) with multiple good characters.
Personally, I'd want to make Bill & Ted. Lots of historical figures and heroes that can probably be made with mostly existing parts, a unique vehicle that can be made at a low price point, heroes with very distinctive costumes, also Playmobil George Carlin in wacky future clothing. Like Back to the Future, it allows you to take something new, and reuse lots of old sets with a new license. You can sell Western, Castle, and a few other themes alongside it. Is it appropriate for kids? Probably not. But Back to the Future isn't too far off from a similar tone in terms of some adult themes, albeit with less adult language. If you're not a fan of Bill or Ted, you can still buy Gengis Khan, Joan of Arc, Napoleon, Billy the Kid, Abraham Lincoln, etc. Also Metrocenter Mall from here in Phoenix was used for the San Dimas mall for the first movie, and any excuse I could come up with for a Playmobil Metrocenter Mall playset would be great.

It's been said before, but Playmobil has often issued sets which seem inspired by movies current at the time (though usually a couple of years after the peak of popularity) without claiming to be exactly based upon the movie, to avoid licensing litigation. Here are a couple which seem to me to be right out of the Indianna Jones mould:
3015 Jungle Ruins, from 1998 (https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3015)
4842 Treasure Temple with guards, from 2009 (https://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4842)
Indianna Jones films were released in 1981, 1984, 1989 and 2008, so 3015 was very 'late' but 4842 was perhaps able to cash in on some of the enthusiasm generated by the fourth film (mind you, I don't know how popular the fourth film was).
-
The Dukes of Hazzard was an 80’s tv series centered around a vehicle although, not sure how well a toy car with a confederate flag on it will sell now. I agree with Adam16bit about Dr.who though, I remember seeing pics of playmobil style funko figures of the good doctor as well as Willy Wonka and if I’m not mistaken a ninja turtle?

You're probably never going to see new Dukes of Hazzard General Lee cars again. https://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/warner-bros-stop-licensing-dukes-hazzard-products-confederate/story?id=31993341 (https://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/warner-bros-stop-licensing-dukes-hazzard-products-confederate/story?id=31993341) Warner Bros. even stopped licensing it a few years ago. There were die-cast and RC cars being made for it up until about then, retro TV/movie cars from just about everything tend to do well - Knight Rider's KITT, the Munsters' Koach, the Bluesmobile, the DeLorean from BTTF, and so on and so forth.
Funko did some great stuff - TMNT, Doctor Who, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Willy Wonka, we even had an exclusive B&W TMNT Raphael at work. There were a few plans for other licenses which Playmobil didn't want to do, and those XL figures - while awesome - had pretty limited articulation. I still love their Fourth Doctor design, I got the Funko guys standing on top of one of my Playmobil shelf racks. I'd love to see standard-sized figures of all of them. I'm hoping those that work on the line feel like sharing the stories behind it - there are some of the unreleased designs out there, and Funko and Playmobil each had very different perspectives for figure development. You can see some of the Fallout and The Walking Dead concept art floating around out there. I can't remember if they showed other concept art at Toy Fair or not when I met with them the year Playmobil was shown.

Three's Company
(If you didn't get this series in the UK, well, you didn't miss anything)
Three's Company was an American version of the earlier British programme Man About the House, the landlords in both are named Roper but with different first names. Both series had spinoffs about the landlords.
-
Incredible, I never knew that :(o): So many US series were based on UK ones

They’re currently filming the latest In the Indiana Jones franchise in Glasgow…..so,eyes peeled for the Playmobil franchise of that soon too!

The A-team set popped on the Canadian site for $120 cdn.
The escape van that was just released in the police theme also comes with 4 figures plus a small pursuit helicopter costs $95. I guess the extra $25 goes to the design of the new hair pieces and the cost of the license.
The Mystery machine which was the first to use the new van mold costs $60 and comes with 3 figures. I guess Covid really is affecting prices.

Both are 'licensed theme'. Prices are going up 25%, 50%, and like with this van sometimes inflation = 100%.
And certainly not only prices of plastic toys.
:hmm:
