:)
now that we have a lot of members i think it is time to know what are the preferences of our board.
a poll (the 1st one if i am not mistaken) can be a good way to do this.
???
the question would be - what is my favourite playmobil theme?
i propose the following cathegories:
:hmm:
firemen, rescue & hospital
police & traffic
construction, city services & harbor
airport & airplanes
trains
modern city life
motorsports
leisure & sports
polar & dino expeditions
jungle & safari expeditions
farm & animals
circus
romans & egiptians
vikings
knights & castles
western & indians
pirates
victorian dollhouse
magic & fairytale
space & playmospace
if someone thinks they should be corrected i would thank the cooperation.
if you think these "families" are accurate and complete in describing the playmobil world, i will post the poll on tuesday.
:)
... then i will ask the moderators to transfer this message to the poll thread
-
Your list looks pretty comprehensive to me, cachelote.
Bet you can't guess how I'll vote. ;D
-
Hm, will it possible to vote for more than one ??? ... I could not decide ... :-\
-
Hm, will it possible to vote for more than one ??? ... I could not decide ... :-\
I wondered the same, even though I will probably only vote for one theme.
-
Sounds interesting!
I'll have trouble choosing, as I'm collecting in four different themes, with figures from almost every theme somewhere in my collection. I need to think deeply about what my current favourite is and why.
I know Police, Hospital, Construction, Modern City and a few others are different themes in Playmobil, but if I were setting something up for a modern photostory, I'd almost certainly use figures from all these themes.
-
it seems that one of the options of the poll system is multiple voting.
maybe 3 options can be the right aproach?
:)
-
I think you've got yoyr mix right, Cachalote.
and ...
ONLY THREE CHOICES !!!
mmm - I think I will call my therapist. How can I possibly chose between all these themes ........
Bogro
-
I agree with the Count -right mix and three choices is OK too.
-
:)
here it goes, the 1.st playmofriends poll.
any feelings about the winner?
we can vote in 3 themes and we can correct our vote.
:)
-
Cachalote i think it will be a close run with the Romans and Pirates. Just because of the new outstanding Romans and i keep getting suprised by the new Pirate stuff that's coming out.:crossed:
-
if everyone of our 126 friends vote, there's no telling what the results will be... 8}
-
a correction: we now have 128 playmofriends... :)
-
come on, guys and girls - 128 members and only 5 votes ... :-[
-
I voted already!
-
me too.
I tried to cheat :-[ but I couldn't enter more then three options. So I had to scrap five
Bogro

I only got to cast one vote :(. I think it was my own fault because i just took it to be a normal pole with one vote only each and thus voted before i had selected my other two options :-[. I cant go back and change it so here is what i voted for and what i didnt 8}.
For the record i voted for:
Firemen Rescue and Hospital
but would also like to vote for:
Construction, City Service and Harbour
Police and Traffic
Saying that though i like pretty much all the other themes but those above are my favorites and speciality.

My votes are in,
I'm sure my choices will all be in the top 3. :)

I can't adjust the vote counts to reflect how you really wanted to vote, so I've temporarily edited the poll so that you can remove your vote.
You should be able to start again and vote for all three themes this time. :)
-
And Sylvia - did you vote?
-
Yep! I voted a few days ago when I first saw the poll. :yup:
Victorian was my first choice because it's the theme I first fell in love with and the one which helped fully open my eyes to this amazing line of toys.
My other choices were the Knights and Fairytale/Magic themes. Probably heavily influenced by my unrealistically romantic view of gallant knights and beautiful princesses ::) ... plus I absolutely adore the cute gnome sets. ;)

Thank you Sylvia, that has done the trick.

INCREDIBLE !!!
Sylvia, our top three were identical! The only difference was the order. I voted for Victorian as number one; Fairytale/Magic as number two; and, Knights and Castles as number three.
Looks like we're both incurable romantics ... ;) ...
I tried to make my decision on which themes I miss (or would miss) the most. And, of course, I miss the Victorian theme tremendously ... :'(
The Fairytale/Magic themes have continued to expand ... :yippee:
The Knights theme has also continued to expand ... :yippee:
(Although, i sorely miss the old castle/framehouse building Steck-System!) ... :'(
I would really, really miss the Pirates theme!
I also miss the original "electric" Trains a lot ... :'(
I already miss the Vikings and will no doubt miss the Romans when they are discontinued.
I miss: the the Western theme (with the US Cavalry fort, the western town and the Indian camp; the Jungle natives theme; the Safari Arab theme; the Northwest Mountie theme; and, the Eskimo theme.
Finally, I miss the Space and Alien themes.
It appears that I really like ALL of Playmobil's historical and fantasy sets ... ;)
Thanks, Cachalote, for posting such a fun poll!
All the best,
Richard

Hm, with my votes "modern city life", "construction, city services & harbor", and "firemen, rescue & hospital" it seems that I'll become a minority here ... maybe that's the wrong place for me :hmm: :P
Agh, :hissyfit: there is also an animal section there  I think I would have voted for this instead of firemen et.al. (just got irritated by the leading farm term and must admit that I totally overlooked it).

It's not too late to change it.
Click on the Remove Vote link on the bottom right of the poll section.
This will clear your previous votes and then you will be able to vote afresh. :)

Well, I've voted now following the little nudge cachalote gave me:

It certainly is a hard choice so I have gone to my all time favourite which is the trains (had 3 waggons delivered this morning via eBay) second was for the construction but only because the harbour section is included and a strange third but I went for the Victorian Dolls House. I haven't bought anything in this range as of yet but find it quite beautiful and am very tempted to start collecting this range. Just not too sure how I will explain to my wife that I want to play with a dolls house - Craig

I've voted for Vikings, Victorian and Knights & Castles. For some reason I like everything medievalisc. And I looooooove my Victorian Market. Just love it!

 Okay, ability to read is really an advantage ... :-[

I've gone for:
1) romans
and victorian and pirates competing for 2nd and 3rd places... Both deliver essential parts for making soldiers...

Hi All,
I love the idea of this poll.
Not to be a dolt, but would you classify the forest theme along with "farm and animals". I'd hate to lump my natural creatures (foxes, skunks) along with the domesticated ones (horses & pigs) if there was another option. But I understand the need to keep the poll simple.
But for the record, none of my animals are caged! :-*
-

I would say it's the closest option for you if animals are your main interest. :yup:
Are you into other themes too, kimobile? :)
Welcome to PlaymoFriends, btw! Nice to have you here ;)
-
How kind of you to offer such a warm welcome.
I have always been fascinated by the idea of the secret life of foresty/mossy/ferny places. So, I tend to gravitate toward all things woodland, integrating into it a little of the bunny world, a land of gnomes (although they are so darned pricey), and generally things magical. Thusfar, I have shied away from the whole world of the pink castle -- a bit to Barbie for my taste -- but I think I may cave soon. I did spring for the forest fairy sets available now in Germany I am, however, waiting for a special occasion to open them -- since I like to share this hobby with my 6-year-old daughter.
Another interest is street scenes. I love the various Victorian sales stalls (fish, pets, hats, etc.) and the contemporary butcher shop, flower shop, post office, etc. also are appealing to me.
In reality, I've been collecting the former, debating the latter, and wondering if I am just insane and should spend my money on home improvements instead.
What about you? I know there is a heavy presence of viking/knight/roman/pirate fans out there. I'd love to hear more from the collectors of, shall we say, the "gentler sets". Although, if you're into staging elaborate battles with lots of blood, guts, and emphasis on proper uniforms and armor, bring it on. I can appreciate it all!
Best,
Kim
-
well kimobile, if you don“t mind a gentle suggestion from a gentle pirate's fan, you can always spend your money improving your home so that it can receive more playmobil sets.
maybe that way some of the guilt could fade away. ;)
-
:)
just a little reminder for those who are still considering their vote - this poll ends in 9 days...
:)
-
Yes I like the peaceful forest animals too. The wolves, badger, mountain lion... ;D
I seem to be the only one who voted for the dinosaurs ;) but that's ok, I think that's in part because the more recent series isn't world wide yet. Once you see them in person they are pretty impressive. Limiting to only 3 choices is pretty small for many (most?) of the collectors here, themes do have a tendency to take off on their own.
-
less than 20% of our members voted in this pole.
it is a little sad. :'(
we still have 2 days to do it.
come on guys and girls, don't be shy.
-

Yes, as the Dinos aren't out in the UK officially yet I don't have any.
I think Cachalote should run this poll every year, to see how our tastes change (or don't) as new themes arrive, and older themes get dropped or reduced in range.
-
Actually I think this poll had good turnout. 23 covers the active posting members pretty well I think, plus some who don't post as often. There are only 55 members who have posted more than 20 times in the entire history of the board, and a number of those have been inactive for some time, so participation of active members was more like 50% or above.
-
:)thanks for the inside info tiermann.
:(but there are still 50% of our members that didin't vote.
:'(... and some of them, i am sure, are pirate fans (DO do you really want knights to win?)
:love:HALF AN HOUR TO CLOSING TIME. COME ON.

Hello, Cacholote ...
Even if the Knights win ... Remember, that the first Pirates were probably Templar Knights!
Look at Outback's article ... HERE (http://gardenwargaming.com/pirates/dunc/dunc.html) !!!
All the best and thanks for creating a great poll,
Richard

thank you richard, for a great link. :wow:
thank you everyone who voted. :wow:
we now know where the love of our members lie.
this was fun to do. :yup:
next year i will create another poll, adding a new family - customs. :yup:
i bet this will increase the number of voters. ;)
