Title: Changes to the gB Board

I copied this from JLMatterer's "Playmobil in the News" topic to highlight it and to invite comment.

It will be interesting to see if Herr Balser implements "consumer-oriented sales strategies" which listen to adult collectors, won't it?

He comes from Hasbro, so does that mean more My Little Pony style PM?

I guess the traditional klickies will always exist, maybe with bendable arms, which I would be okay with. And next to the traditional Playmobil line they could start with a different klicky, as Lego did with the Friends series:

And apart of all that, a collector's line via the DS (but that's truly wishful thinking), anyway, Lego managed to establish it as well.

Klickies will get even thinner and even sexier!  :giggle:

That's interesting. Geobra has a three person board instead of a single CEO. This guy will be the third person in this spot on the board since the death of HOB. The other two spots haven't changed I believe. I find it interesting they are bringing in another person mentioned in the article from Disney. That is an interesting connection.

There are certainly competitive difficulties for a company that makes traditional, tangible toys, so it's nice that they haven't strayed too far from that. However, the article mentions "digitization" and the "digital future" being of vital importance, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot more online content of some sort (the resurrection of the dead Playmobil World MMORPG project? :D).

We will perhaps learn more about the vision for PM's future during the Nuernberg Toy Fair (31 Jan to 4 Feb). There are some hints in the press release. Digital media developments will no doubt be about further promoting interest in the brand through child-orientated moving images online and on TV, nothing new there?
This statement is interesting: "Now it’s all about implementing new ideas and approaches promptly, consistently and courageously. The continued development of our sales work and flexible new marketing approaches are therefore a key aspect,” says Höpfner.
Perhaps the word 'promptly' hints at more timely media tie-ins to current films and so on, rather than being 1 or 2 years behind, so I think we will see more licensed products from PM linked to recent releases. Sort of Legoisation.

Remember, there is a Playmobil film slated to be released too. :) Now it would seem that it is scheduled for release in early 2019, and I'm sure there will be related sets. Hopefully they aren't too late with those!
