This set is definitely more elaborate than the similar add-on set 6460. This one has a solar panel and connector, two light bars, the gold rocks, and a sticker sheet and printing on the figure. The figure itself is a repeat from the Space Shuttle set, but is quite nice.

As space sets go I think this one is a really nice one at a great price point. It actually makes a better add-on to the Space Shuttle theme than the add-on does. It is available in the US and I hear Portugal now. The add-on has disappeared from the US site along with the space sets now though.  Worth picking up if you are a space fan.

I have both these sets (still unopened) even though I'm not into Space, just because the sets look so cool. The only thing I dislike is the silver knight arm armour on the add-on set astronaut. Was white so difficult? Does anyone have any spare white arm armour?

Good point.

This is a great set, a real Apollo Lunar Rover.

Not my theme, Tim, but a great review and the 9101 set is definitely superior; the other could easily be a knock-off.

Great review.
Looks like a great little set and that figure is indeed pretty cool.
Those who already have that figure can easily change it's hair or even the whole head to make a new character for their space team.

Ahum... The Carry-Case version 9101 clearly is ... Chinese!  ;D
The klicky-driver not only has Asian eyes, but his spacesuit has exactly the same colours as those used in the Chinese Space Program.
I suppose the ZIA (Zirndorf Intelligence Agency) foresees the Chinese as being the next humans klickies to land on the Moon...

 :thanks: for that info Hadoque! The Chinese probably will be colonizing the moon soon - the real estate is probably cheap compared to Hong Kong or Guangzhou!  ;D
