Title: Ferrovie dello Balconia
Post by: Marco_4124 on October 15, 2017, 09:08:46
What is the "Ferrovie dello Balconia", please Marco?

"Ferrovie dello Balconia”

The "Ferrovie dello Balconia" is my little railway company that started in 2011 with a second hand LGB starter set. Since it is extended with second hand LGB and Playmobil locomotives and wagons, because new rolling stock is too expensive for me.
The little railway started on my balcony, hence the name "Ferrovie dello Balconia”, but now drives during the summer in the garden on my parents camping site. It is much loved by small, large and very large children  ;)
The layout is always temporary, because I can’t visit the camping site during the winter. I do own some buildings, these are made from wood or plastic and there are even some houses from Playmobil.
I designed my own logo that can be found on some locomotives and wagons. Also my cousin printed my logo on his 3D-printer.

And here in the garden, a fantastic location.

Nobody is a train fan, except…… Well, more people than they might admid.

Sometimes my train visits another layout. Here in Mill, Noord Brabant, The Netherlands.

Rural scene, with (by now world famous) Billy-Jo, Betty-Jo and Bobby-Jo swimming in the water tower.

Practical joke, here my Playmobil ICE runs on its own power between The Netherlands and Germany.

Thank you, Marco, that is a very full and interesting answer, well illustrated with excellent photos.

I remember your international ICE story and the camping railway.  The swimming in the water tower I know is from a film, but I don't know which.

It's a small railway, but so what, look at the pleasure you and others get out of it.

And as for second-hand rolling stock, that's fine, all of mine is and for the same reason.

Thank you again.

And Ferrovie dello Balcomnia must mean the "iron way of the balcony" or The Balcony Railway.

Immer wieder schön, Züge im Grünen! Dieser Tender hinter der Tenderlok - LGB oder Eigenbau?

Trains out in the green, great! This tender behind the steam engine - LBG? Or selfmade?

Sharp eyes, Stefan; I'd not noticed that.  It looks LGB to me.

The tender is a LGB toytrain 96172 tender with sound operated by a 9V battery.
The sound is the same as commonly is found on christmascards.
