Title: American Toy Fair Playmobile
Post by: tahra on February 22, 2017, 20:44:27
Got these on my feed, and I must note it:

Toy News International
NYTF17 - Playmobile Ghostbusters Product Display (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?itemid=28378)

Kotaku
2017 Is The Year Playmobile Escapes The Shadow Of The Lego Aisle (http://kotaku.com/2017-is-the-year-playmobile-escapes-the-shadow-of-the-l-1792590211)

Is it so hard for them to copy the darn name?

What's with this?!

Well.. at least the Kotaku one mentions playmobil several times correctly... Now the other...  >:(

At least it is mostly positive.

Except for a couple of.... less enlightened beings in the comments - when I saw it.
On the other hand, there was a comment that corrected the name.

Speleo at Klickywelt (http://www.klickywelt.de/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=63629&start=75) (log-in required) spotted the following detailed pics from the NY Toy Fair:

Not sure whether the link works. :-[ If not, copy and paste into your browser, please.

 Vikings/DRAGONS are sooo cool.

Best wishes

Awesome! Thank you :)

Corrected link, till a mod fixes it:
link (http://www.toyhypeusa.com/2017/02/21/nytf-2017-playmobil-ghostbusters-action-figures-playsets-coverage/)

You need to write:

[ url = http://www.toyhypeusa.com/2017/02/21/nytf-2017-playmobil-ghostbusters-action-figures-playsets-coverage/] Text for the link [/ url ]

(without the spaces ;) )

Or apparently just the url itself, and the board thing will make it a link...

AND.. well.. THOSE guys can actually spell playmobil. Just sayin'.  ::)

The Kotaku writer shows the limited depth of his/her knowledge of Playmobil when he/she says:

"The set is very detailed for a Playmobil toy"!

Thanks Tahra! Fixed my link. Now they are all over the place... 8} At least we'll now all find the spectacular pictures. :D

Back to topic: what is wrong with DRAGONS' hero one foot? I am blissfully unaware of the films, but that metal protraction just looks  ??? ...

Best wishes

I think it's great that they are getting some positive press in the US market off the licensed sets. I would guess that is one of their main goals with them, trying to break out more in the US and some other hard to crack export markets.
Very happy to notice the old Victorian oil table lamp in the fire house set. Parts order for a few of those when they come available for sure.

I noticed that too... But deleted my comment on it since he at least got the name right  ::)  :P

Hiccup lost his foot in the first movie (I think)... He has a metal thingie... Toothless is also a "fin" short in the tail, so he needs that contraption thingie to fly (can be opened/closed by the rider). Hiccup invented that.

Of of the commenters said that it was a shame that you couldn't get characters in the Ecto-1...
Don't they know that the roof is removable?

I'm still disappointed in the small size of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man

Well, we were commenting that... we figured the guy somehow meant that all the characters weren't in the set...

Didn't think of that.

But seriously.... playmobile!?  :hmm:

The car appears to have front seats only which means you can't get the whole team in the car as there is no backseat.

Yeah, it's not like it isn't written on the boxes and all the promo material. I think people just get 'mobile' stuck in their head and then see what they want to.

My current playmobil order has been called 'Play mobile' by the courier company. It's no wonder things get lost when these guys don't bother reading what's actually on the labels. Not a real problem except when things get repackaged.

I see that the car does take all four. Instead of a back seat it has two single seats on the right of the car, not visible in the earlier pictures, one behind the other. That's good.
