Hello everyone.
This is the temple of god Apollo in Corinth of Greece!
The temple was built in 530 BC. The original temple consisted of 40 doric columns with 20 lines and about 4 meters high. The diameter of the base is about 1,90 m. Today are saved only seven columns as you can see at the picture! The temple is trademark of Corinth city.
Apollo was one of the most popular gods of antiquity, since in his honor were built 29 temples !! For god Athena 24 and for Zeus 16 temples.
And here is the version I did with my collection.

Our friend Tim went to see the temple too!!!

This I like. Nice! :yup:

George,
That is some great work there. I like seeing when members recreate real world settings in Playmobil.
Keep it up
Cheers,
James

Great looking custom!

Oh I do like that! How did you do the tops and bases of the columns (square pieces)?
-
Very nice!

Thank you very much for your comments playmofriends! So glad you like it. :)

I didn't do something to the columns. I used that one from the old Roman set 4277 with the Caesar and I just have cut one of them at the top.

Thank you GrahamB. You're right. I believe it makes the diference to the picture altough it was very hard for me to cut the column. This part is very rare and it is not available by Playmobil. But finally, I think it was worthwhile!!

Yes, it definitely completes the building and makes it look very much like the original. Great work, George!

Thank you pal!!

Oh George, it's gorgeous!!
I saw it with my own eyes when I was 17 (on a school trip to Greece) and it was breathtaking - not just the temple in Corinthe but all the ancient sites we visited. It's lovely to see a Playmo version :)
How I wish Playmobil would do an entire ancient Greek theme!
Although our professor of Greek history explained that those marble temples were actually painted in bright colours in those days. It would look quite different from what we're used to :)

Looks great.

Thank you very much for your nice comment Birdie. You are lucky you have seen it with your own eyes. I was in Corinth for two months when I went to the army. I was 19, but I didn't have the chance to visite the temple. We didn't have much free time.
About an ancient Greek theme by Playmobil. The Greek Gods was a good start and I belive we will see more things in the next years. Why not an entire theme! We are very close for something like that. I'm really too optimistic!!
Yes, the temples were painted and very beautiful! They were adorned with representations and statues in and outside the building! We admire them as they are today. Only if we could see them as they were at these days!! It would be great!!

We need more optimism, it's refreshing :)

The OP cannot be praised highly enough. And I too have hopes for a Greek and other historical themes - the omens are auspicious!

the omens are auspicious!
That's true!! Thanks for your comment.
