While googling in pursuit of Tiermann's recent query regarding the Templeuve knight, I came across many great diorama photos. Here are just two: a Vietnam extravaganza and a recreation of the Battle of Bouvines:

Wow, for the Vietnam one.. Reminded me of China Beach first.. then Rambo II...
The other one is very impressive too, the sheer numbers. And space (I am sooo jealous).

Yes I love big dioramas like those that make me feel all sane and under control in comparison. ;D

My thoughts EXACTLY!!!!
To say I'm impressed would be an understatement on the Vietnam diorama

I need to bring it to National Playmographic's attention.
If you want to see a MASSIVE dio...well I'll make a new thread. Blew my mind.

I love the waterway in the first one.
I feel the second one should have more cows in it though.

The French have much to teach us.

Thanks to this, I've had the song "Paint it Black" stuck in my head for days now.

hmmm - the medieval battle is impressive and on a huge scale. A great triumph. Bravo!
But the vietnam scene repels me a bit. I dunno - feels a bit funny seeing the civilians in there as well. War is hell! :(

Yeah that's what I thought too. It's beautifully made but the subject is horrible.

the subject is horrible.
But sadly is an important part of Human History on planet Earth.

"Nah, those are most probably just VC" ;) ::)

I think it's testament to PM's versatility as a toy that it can be used to create dioramas of dark periods of history and also of fun circuses and zoos.

The Middle Ages is a definite example of that fact.
I love seeing all of the dioramas that people who have more availability, more creativity, and way more Playmobil than I do, can create.

Or gladiators. I mean, if you think about the colosseum set for a minute, it's horrible!

Same here. I feel like a child wandering through a gathering of great geniuses.
