Title: Antique Klickies?

There were boxes of old comic books, arcade games from the early 1980s (still playable for a quarter) & shelves of toys from the 1970s on up. When I asked about Playmobil, they produced 1 baggie of assorted klickies, which I snagged for $2.99.

There were 8 klickies total, plus 1 horse. One klicky was a ghost pirate which I already have, but the other seven were obviously older.

All the klickies except the one with the dark blue legs have 1974 stamped on the bottom of their right feet.

The klicky with blue legs has 1976 on its right foot.

The horse has 1974 stamped on its underside.

Can anyone help me determine what I have here? I'm assuming the dates are somewhat correct, though I don't how this works with klickies. I think I got a good find just for the price alone, but I'm curious to see if these are "antique" klickies. :lol:

Post by: Ismene on March 24, 2016, 19:40:38: 70's sounds about right. Notice the fixed wrists. Can't really pin down sets because they used the same basic klickies for everything.

The font used for the numbers would mean that a 6 would look like the 9 but upside down.

Given the red cross stickers on the horse, I suspect the white female figure was a nurse and she still has her red collar - but has the male hair instead of the female hair.
The others could be anything. Horse is possibly from a cowboy set but this horse was used for everything.
The blue guys with grey legs could be from a police set but this type again was used elsewhere.

Came with a yellow police car and green motorcycle and a horse and all of these klickies, except the red dressed woman who probably came from a happy meal. It was a great set... I got it for my 5th or 6th birthday :) The all blue guy was the mounted officer...the guys with the greyish pants were the car and motorcycle cops...the yellow guy was a fireman...and the white dressed lady was a nurse complete with the stickers mentioned. Pretty sure I still have the complete set minus the car antenna that got thrown away with the packaging and one broken off handle from the motorcycle. ;)

TX! I couldn't find 1903 but I found 1904.

Post by: JLMatterer on March 28, 2016, 23:47:23: TX for all of the info. I would never have seen the stickers as Red Cross symbols, & it was hard to see that 1976 was actually 1974! My eyes are getting bad (diabetes) & I'm making more & more reading mistakes! 8}

From what I know now, the date of 1974 was used, in some cases, up until the late 80s, but the klickies certainly match the ones seen in the Schaper 1904 pic. I'm glad for the find & think I got a good addition to the collection. They're hanging out on my computer so they can be in view for awhile.

This store had unopened Happy Meals toys going back many years, in large bins where everything was 10 for &1.00, so I think I'll try to go back sometime & see if there is any Playmobil to be found. There was some sort of non-Playmobil knight which I now regret not getting for 10 cents.

That's right, the date on the foot is the year the mold was originally created, not the year the klicky was manufactured. So the recent PCC "mixed color top hat guy" has 1974 on his foot because he is an original style klicky.

Yes, the date appears even on 21st century classic style klickies, but the non-turning wrist was rarely used in later klickies. I'm sure someone else is better with the dates. Ya'll are amazing. I never would have tracked down a set, looking at this lot.
