Title: 5521 Flamenco Horse and Rider - horse blanket problems

Does anyone have this set? I just assembled one for a child. The horse blanket is a papery thing, like the bibs at the dentist's. I almost destroyed it, trying to put the saddle over it. It's already splitting. Am I missing a technique or something?

Maybe the technique is to insert the blanket under the saddle and then put them both on to the horse.

I haven't actually used them, they seemed a bit delicate to me so I set them aside. :/

I give them about a week in the hands of small child. They are fragile.
