My 5-year-old godson asked this set for his birthday, and while I was putting it together for him (such fun!) I realized I really really needed one of these too  ;D
It only cost €35 at a store called Dreamland, while it is priced €54,99 at http://playmobil.be (http://playmobil.be). I think it's well worth the €35.
My favourite parts are the island and the large rock (obviously), but most of all the waterfall. I think it's the biggest one of this kind that has ever been made and it looks gorgeous.
It didn't take a lot of time to put together, only 4 pieces needed to be plugged in to hold the rocks together.
There's a hidden cave behind the waterfall that can be accessed through the house, and a pointy rock can be made to fall down by turning a piece of rock to one side. Cool touch! There are so many stories that come to mind when you look at this set.
I would have preferred it if the pirate ship 'house' didn't look like a Fisher Price one, but I guess it's okay. There aren't that many accessories to go with it, but since I have loads of those, I don't mind at all. The three clickies look nice imo, but there's way too much printing on them. The scary pirate skull dangling from the rock is brilliant though!
I took a lot of pictures so you can appreciate the rock formation from all angles.

The box is huge and I thought that was a bit silly until I saw how big the rock actually is. It needs a big box. Plus my godson was super excited about his huge present, I'm pretty sure Playmobil takes that into account...

The treasure chest and gold is very disappointing, as others have pointed out on this forum. It's one 'mass' of gold in a poor quality of plastic - meaning it looks nothing like the gold of the old Playmobil sets.

If you fall into the trap, you end up in prison  :)

That was all for this review.

Thanks for the review (my wallet is cursing you)...
I never realized how big it is, and how gorgeous the waterfall looks
I wish they'd STOP making bases to go around the rocks - these end up with all these exposed connectors, and other times don't even freaking stand on their own, which would be, imo, much better....
I also love the grey haired klicky, and he has so far eluded me :(  (that beard!)
The "house" is nice, I think.. of course, if you fired a cannon on top of such a rickety thing, it would probably fall apart (and kill any occupant in the process).. It's as silly as putting a cannon on a raft, or a rowboat...  ::)

Well in this case, they answered your prayers, because all the rocks can stand on their own so no need to add the bases. They aren't firmly attached at all, so it does create a problem when you want to move the construction around.

I had never thought of that, but indeed, it makes no sense.  ::)

Good! But there are still the connectors...

I do... whenever I see a dinghy with a cannon.. It looks so... STUPID.

Great pictures, that waterfall does look nice and that old guy too! The guy with the white sleeves as well.
Due to how much space it takes up, there are better pirate islands out there though if you only have room for one.
The lack of accesoires can be overcome with other sets, even with whats in stores now since the advent callendar can fix it. Well exept for the fake gold piles but I gues I already made my opinion clear on those. I can't think of a part I dislike more considering they replaced the real gold with it.
But anyways, my main beef with this set is that structure. I mean, it seems about as large as the prison on the other side, theres not really much with it. Might have been nicer if they had a larger cabin made of ship parts. With one side open to play inside. I also think a rope bridge could have been nice with a set like this, they never had one in the pirate theme while it seems perfect for a pirate island.

Thanks for the review. It's a nice e looking piece of landscaping. Would make a good entry point for a bigger proper pirate island.

The rocks (and waterfall) are lovely, and I guess that one could hide the slot-in connectors if one wanted to stand it without the bases.  It looks from the photo as if one can also stand the rocks without using the wooden cabin piece - am I correct?
I like all the pirates - especially Greybeard, of course - but the others too.  I like fussy/printed clothing om pirates.  :)
And, even as an adult, I'd just have to sail the rowing boat back and forth (and back and forth) underneath the overhanging rocks.....

Oh I love the rocks and waterfall... I thought that this set would be useful, turns out now I KNOW it will be useful.  Thanks for confirming that I need to work a bunch of overtime in the coming year!

That is a great idea!

There aren't even that many slot-in connectors to hide. The rocks work without the cabin and even without the waterfall part. They're going to be very useful in most themes.

Thank you for the review! It is a great set and I am tempted to get it but my cupboards just tell me "No!" -Playmobil rock landscapes are just too bulky.  Hope to snap up Greybeard one day, though. Thanks again.

The mountain appears to be crying, that's quite disturbing.
Great review of a great set though, thanks. I love that rusty halberd weapon the pirate is holding.

Love it! Thanks for the review. I must have this waterfall set for a zoo exhibit. As for the clips on the sides of the rocks, you can always position smaller rocks or a bush in front of them.

Indeed!
seems like a nice set, but why is the waterfall so dark?
The water parts in other sets issued in 2015 have the same dark colour. I think they switched to this colour a few years ago, because I have other water pieces that fit this one, for instance the smaller water fall from the 5252 indian kids plus animals set:

Having now had a close-up look at this set which I'd previously barely glimpsed at, and encouraged by an enthusiastic Mr Raven (who obviously kept his enthusiasm to himself and didn't post here), we've decided to purchase this set.
Which shows how useful reviews can be.

AGREED!
This was a set that I was thinking I might be able to wait for... but now after seeing it in the review and the concerns that I had about it now rested... I need 2 of 3!
