The final in the series of four Play Box sets, this review will also include some info about possible use in dioramas and an alternate set up.

The contents of the set

Much like the others, the stickers include the round ones to hold the backs in, and again just the big one needs one at the bottom. Love the backgrounds on this set. I particularly like the klicky on a surf board in the center and the way the palm trees look like actual Playmo ones there. I also really like the pattern on the filler they use int he handle at the top, and the fact they used the bamboo background on the side and the little rug on the center floor.
The surfboards include white foot clips, I think in the past they have usually been clear.

I didn't get pictures of the klickies, let me know if you need to see that better. Both swimsuit style. The guy has a shirt on and a nice typical necklace painted on, with a pattern on the shorts. Looks great i think, and the woman looks just right in her wetsuit.
Also note that the life ring piece is a different color than usual, the orange is a light orange to match with the set and not the usual dark orange.

As soon as I saw this set I knew I would be wanting two of them so I could split the surf shop part and the drinks bar. Nicely the curved front they use on these gives them some flexibility in the way you set them up. You can easily put two or more together either in a straight line or curved.

And the Flora shop, then all three together in a curved layout

They work great together as a group. I am going to use them in a beach/harbor diorama as a string of boardwalk side shops near the hotel. An instance where the carry boxes are actually useful.

That's it, great to see that they do work as a street vendor dio
Great stuff, finally a usefull play box
Thanks Tim

Here they are in a straight line without the curve worked in

and with the flora shop in the center as an alternate set up. On the one hand it breaks up the colors nicely, but it separates the other two shops a bit. Not sure how it will go in the diorama eventually.

That's it for this review. Really like this set, and how it can be expanded into two different shops pretty easily. Over all I think this is a great series, with the Halloween set being the only slightly weak one. The figure in that one redeems it though, so I would give the series as a whole a positive rating. An interesting direction for them to move with carry sets, it will be interesting to see if they add more in this line in the future.

Thanks for the review...
And I hadn't thought of that setup... looks great, actually... We usually disregard carry-things and such.. My wallet may hate you all over again :P
Anyways, I MUST have that torso. Actually, the klicky is quite nice, but multiples of that torso is a must...

Lovely to see them all together. This surf shop is the best of all the play boxes, imo. I'll need at least two!
Thanks for all the detailed reviews :)

I had zero interest in these sets except maybe the blacksmith. Then I see your pics.
You should go work for geobra's marketing department, those set ups look great.
They'd make an excellent shopping mall set up.
-
It looks good as a Surf Bar. I like it as a bit of a city scape
-
They look great together.
And I'm very glad to have now seen a way to display surf boards in a shop without them all falling over every time I touch anything. Also, the different shelf unit backgrounds in all these sets makes such a difference to the look and atmosphere of them. That's something else I shall bear in mind when shop-making.
Great reviews.

The surfboards still fall over pretty easily. I would use some sticky tack stuff to hold them in if I was going to be doing much bumping around them.
Custom backgrounds could make for all sorts of interesting new shop types.

You just need to turn the chair around so that it's facing out to the beach. That scene looks like it's inside the shop looking out the main doors to the beach.
-
Really like the drinks bar, very sophisticated and can see that it would add an extra dimension to a diorama. Such vibrant colours and how attractive the shops look side by side, great display!
-
The idea of that drinking bar is great! I love the bamboo background and the (new?) green cups.
You showed great possibilities with these!
