Title: Pirate Castaway Island 5138
Post by: JLMatterer on September 21, 2015, 01:48:22
Got this earlier this month, Pirate Castaway Island 5138. There is a problem with the palm frond roof of the shelter, as the directions run contrary with what is shown on the box; attaching the fronds to the pole successfully took several attempts. (HINT: ignore the box illustration.) However, it's a fun set-up & is a good addition to a pirates collection.

It's great to see this close-up: I was looking for this last year, mainly because I loved the horizontal bamboo and the way it was tied to the tree trunk.  I couldn't find a complete set for sale, however, so I never got it.

It is a nice set, though, and with the beard hiding the klicky's smile, he does look like a very thoughtful/reflective (or maybe resigned to his fate) castaway.

I love this set. It's small and focussed - almost lyrical. And cheap! I have two.

The big piece of leaves that form the roof is pretty cool too. I should try to find this set.
