Title: 6121 - Vegetable Market Stall
Post by: Raven on July 13, 2015, 04:06:39

This is a very nice market stall, with a rigid plastic awning which has a realistic 'weathered' appearance.  That doesn't show at all well in these photographs, unfortunately (in fact the photographs make the top of the awning look a little strange), but it looks good in actuality.

The klickies are nice too, especially the stallholder.

The ice-cream mould has been used for the tomatoes, and it works rather well.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/MS03_zps5f11mp17.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/MS03_zps5f11mp17.jpg.html)

The market stall has a horizontal ridge across the centre to help the vegetable crates stay in position.  It is quite easy to accidentally place a crate onto the ridge.  I don't think any child would be concerned about that when playing; but if you intend to take photographs, you may want to check first that your crates are neat.  See the above photo - the front of the crate of eggs is on the ridge, so is slightly higher than the others; and the crate of cabbages is not straight either.

The crates are in two sizes: larger for the back of the stall, and smaller for the front.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/MS04_zpsn0wyuxfk.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/MS04_zpsn0wyuxfk.jpg.html)

The stall has a very useful shelf at the back of it for the cash register and weighing scale.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/MS05_zps1jufxqkr.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/MS05_zps1jufxqkr.jpg.html)

The parsnips have a different green leafy top to them than the previous ones, which means they are easier to display in a crate, and a klicky can also hold them.  Here's the stallholder holding the 'new' parsnip, with one of the 'old' ones at his feet:

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/MS06_zpsnlbf53ia.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/MS06_zpsnlbf53ia.jpg.html)

I'm happy to have a white shopping basket, but these baskets aren't the most practical thing for play. The klicky has trouble standing upright once there is the weight of purchases in the basket.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/MS07_zps3wxseeio.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/MS07_zps3wxseeio.jpg.html)

Oh, and in that photo above, the stallholder is standing there thinking....

.... about the basket of potatoes that is also included in this set, but which I forgot to include until now.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/MS08_zpsgniunllg.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/MS08_zpsgniunllg.jpg.html)

The slatted market stall means that items for sale need to be in crates before they can be displayed.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/MS09_zpshxzg4ynf.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/MS09_zpshxzg4ynf.jpg.html)

But the items don't have to be vegetables, of course.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/MS10_zpseivkouh2.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/MS10_zpseivkouh2.jpg.html)

I wondered how this new stall would look alongside the other market stalls which I have.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/MS11_zps2excsrdv.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/MS11_zps2excsrdv.jpg.html)

I think that it fits in nicely.

And, actually, I like this market stall the best.  It is spacious, and the stall has a gentle slope to it, which looks more realistic to me.  Plus it has the useful shelf at the back for the cash register and/or as an additional display space.

Thank you for an excellent review and photos.  The set is an excellent addition to the Playmobil range.

Market stalls have had a number of incarnations over the years. I like this latest version, with the useful shelf and the 'solid' roof. I share your frustration with those shopping baskets, in fact almost anything can cause a Klicky to topple over, especially if the surface it is on is even slightly uneven.
That was a great review, Raven, lovely photos! I will now have to transform all the tops of my root vegetables so the klickies can hold them ;D

Excellent review, thanks a lot!

I already have a lot of other stalls, but now I see the advantage of this one. It is useful to have extra space for  the scales or a cash register.
I like the stall holder too, nice shirt with the rolled up sleeves like that.

Now I totally feel like doing a dio for a flee market   Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks for the review, its certainly a nice set but I am still debating wether it could be used for a medieval display. Without the clickies and scales of course.

Great review. I too was wondering how it would look in an older theme such as the medieval. The hard roof looks vey modern for some reason even though it's the same color patern as the old fabric one.

Norwich market in the UK has a similar arrangement of fixed roofs for the stalls in its market:

Nice review. I like this one the best of the stalls seen to date. The only other one I like better are the ones from the 5587 Christmas Market with the front doors that close up. I will have to look at getting a few of these for a market finally. I've held off on the other ones because I didn't like the way the cloth roof worked.

This is an issue. I will be making a separate post about it in the near future.

I was just looking at Norwich market on Google Earth, playmofire! Sort of permanent stalls made to look like the old fabric-roof-flapping-in-the-wind style?

I've been wanting this set for a while  now. It is even nicer than I thought. Thank you for the review. I really like your little market dio.

Easy fix and avoids the ugly dio look of the klicky stands...they are in many colors and work on many klickies but not all. The easy fix is..........clown shoes  :P

:lol:As a regular shopper at the Norwich market can honestly say I have never seen the alternative selection of goods in your re-vamped fruit and veg stall but would welcome the variety! Great review! and super photos

Yes, that's right, but looks very good especially on a sunny day.
