Title: 6020 - Vacation House
Post by: Raven on July 12, 2015, 20:01:41

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH01_zpsxdarx0vz.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH01_zpsxdarx0vz.jpg.html)

I wanted this set mainly because of the compact kitchen, which I thought would be really useful in small houses.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH02_zpseevrjqjn.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH02_zpseevrjqjn.jpg.html)

The fridge door is a sticker, and so is the cooker/stove top (hidden behind the flowers on that photo, but visible in a later photograph).  If I myself had to put those stickers on, I'm sure I'd never succeed!  Thankfully, I had Mr Raven to help....

The sitting area provides a nice backdrop for photographs.

There is another sticker for the TV (on the right), but I decided not to use that, because I wanted a 'switched off' TV.

There are two identical baseplates for the house, which means that one of them ends up with a hole showing at the front - but there is a little hedge to cover that hole with.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH04_zpsgfkspcri.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH04_zpsgfkspcri.jpg.html)

I already had two of those little hedges in a container labelled 'Horse Jumps' - and I'd never thought of using them as decorative hedges before!

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH05_zpsheg9c9u3.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH05_zpsheg9c9u3.jpg.html)

If one wants to pack away everything into the house, one first needs to remove the furniture and baseplates.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH06_zpst2zpwsh0.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH06_zpst2zpwsh0.jpg.html)

I believed that I was doing a good job in packing everything away.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH07_zpslbmloycu.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH07_zpslbmloycu.jpg.html)

But the house would not close!

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH08_zps0kqyjgrk.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH08_zps0kqyjgrk.jpg.html)

It seems that one needs to pack away the furniture and klickies on the 'window' side.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH09_zpsjhivv9jv.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH09_zpsjhivv9jv.jpg.html)

And then lay the baseplates on top.  It's still a bit tricky to close the house - I think that a child may need an adult's help to do this.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH10_zpszhe2rkod.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH10_zpszhe2rkod.jpg.html)

I would also be a little bit worried about ruining the window.  This decorative part is a piece a cardboard held in place by a nice blue light.  It seems very sturdy, but if it endlessly rubbed by pieces of plastic furniture, I think that it could become damaged.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH11_zps3ek4rxkk.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH11_zps3ek4rxkk.jpg.html)

Once closed, however, the vacation house looks rather nice.  It would make a nice background item in a back garden/yard scene - a tea house or summer house, maybe.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH12_zpswrrzphi5.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH12_zpswrrzphi5.jpg.html)

I did change the lights, though.  I thought the black lights were a bit too dark for the white and yellow and red colours.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH13_zpskhdtlktk.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH13_zpskhdtlktk.jpg.html)

In photos above, I had the 'window side' on the left.  But the house can be opened up on either side, so the window can also be on the right side, if one prefers.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH14_zpsokei5qfw.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH14_zpsokei5qfw.jpg.html)

As a set for a child; I think that a few additions may be needed.  There is probably a limit to the number of times a child wants two adults to fry eggs or drink coffee or wine.  Maybe a car to go somewhere in; or bikes to ride; or a shop or a playpark or a zoo to go to?

The sofa converts into a bed for the two adults:

But there is space enough to add a similar bed for a child.

(http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i157/Raven461/VH16_zpstroxpdiz.jpg) (http://s71.photobucket.com/user/Raven461/media/VH16_zpstroxpdiz.jpg.html)

Or any child's bed.

The kitchen area, too, has space to add a couple of things.  Here I added some kitchen waste bins and a washing machine - plus the family dog and its water bowl.

It's a cool little set.  Especially with a few bits and pieces added to it.

Thanks for the detailed review - you are right, it is a nice little set.

I had never really looked at the "carrycases", but that little kitchen seems indeed useful :)

Wow, that is a cute set! The closed front of it does make a good backdrop.  Good call with changing the lights, I prefer your lighter ones over the black for this set too.

Thanks for sharing your review! Indeed, it does seem as though play possibilities are a bit limited, but I quite like the concept as well as the overall design of the house. The layout of the kitchen is great. :)

Great review and I liked your additions and suggestions.  :) I am so impressed that you got everything to fit back together.  I would probably have to call in a 4 year old.

See the problem with such lovely reviews is that it makes me second guess my decision not to buy certain sets

I had my eye on the kitchen too, but I thought it wasn't worth the money just for that. Now I see how good it looks from the outside (closed), I agree it is the perfect summer house or garden house or something.

And with my little niece in mind, it could also be a good birthday present. Compact, lots of accessories...

Thanks for the review!

I'm not too sure about this set though, I do feel they did better carry along houses and such before which may be easier to store. Having to take your time to get everything to fit properly may reduce the supposed convenience these take along sets should have.

Also personly not thrilled about there not being a door, well the door being displayed on the outside but not really being there.

But the kitchen and clickies look nice, and its certainly a good review.  :)

Very nice review of a take a long. I too avoid these compact houses but you made this one seem usefull. If the front facade indeed looks photo promising perhaps I too will keep an eye out for one.

Nice review and really nice set.
I was wondering how many rainy days I would survive with my family in a tiny vacation house like that tho? :hmm:
