Title: The unit is under attack!

The unit was marching slowly towards its designated target when it suddenly came under fire

A section of the enemy's Foot Guards had spotted the unit and, with the trademark appetite for battle for which they are known, set about engaging the unit

The fighting escalated! More men from the Foot Guards issued forth to support the leading elements in the attack.  Rifles, swords and common valor were the arms carried forward in the confrontation with the invading foe!

But the Unit was not nicknamed 'The First in and last Out' for nothing - they never shirked a fight, and with a rattle of the cutlass and bolting of bayonets - these lads made ready to stand their ground.

Foot soldier Tubston always led from the front.  He knew a rifle was worth a hundred swords - but he liked the feel of hard steel in his hand and was deadly with his patented swiping cut.  His opponent was Guardsman Grandger.  His cutlass was small but his determination knew no bounds.  There'd be no end to this stoush till one of them was lying defeated in the dirt.

As the battle raged, Tubston lay delirious on the floor.  His hat was gone, his swordhand was empty - only his old friend Charlston was there to give him comfort.

The Unit was slowly engulfed by the superior numbers - it was a sad end but true to their reputation, they never gave in.

The Generals gathered and discussed the news - that a Unit....THE Unit...had fallen.  This was a catastrophe. The armed forces would need to respond.  A task force must be gathered and readied to march....within 24 hours!!  War was now officially declared.

Nice custom officers and battle, its no wonder the french won though with their advanced rifles.  :)

Thanks fellas - I need a full day to set out the upcoming battle.  It's going to be big and fairly bloody I'm afraid.  But it will be a few weeks off yet.  Watch this space 8-)

The nation of Tonguestone had mobilised. First to the field was the First Regiment - known as the 'Borderers'.

These lads meant business.  They never shirked a fight, but they were used sparingly being the elite corps within the Tonguestone Host.

The 7th Battalion of Slaken's Fusiliers lined up along side the Borderers.

The Slaken's as they were well known, were a 'no frills' Battalion - recently formed but with a reasonable pedigree - they were a fighting a battalion in every sense.

Guarding the right wing, the 4th Regiment of Light Foot Guards, better known as the 'Rumbleoirs'.  They were an unknown quantity - having been formed from a population on the fringes of Toungestone.

There was some suggestion that these lads were dandy's - with their bright feathers and flashy hats.  Well, we'd soon see.

In amongst the Rumbleoirs there were hard bitten soldiers who'd seen active service for many a hard soldering year.

A (smaller) battle made by me you can see in my "Randolph" comic; link in my signature below. The battle is to find in part two and three..(but can you read the whole story too, if you like) Did I see  Play Big sabres as well? I used to have a few of them when I was a kid, and often equipped the hero of my stories with them because of their bigger size, to prove the hero was a real sword master.

I think about 300 were involved, Lynx.  The big Sabres were inherited about 30 years ago - I've never seen anything like them since so I'd be interested in hearing their history if you know it.
