Title: International Playmobil Train
Post by: Marco_4124 on June 10, 2015, 12:29:15
International Playmobil Train

Between 1865 en 1991 there was a railway line between Nijmegen in The Netherlands and Kleve in Germany. The line was build and owned by the Nijmeegse Spoorweg Maatschappij but the trains were exploited by the Rheinische Eisenbahn Gesellschaft (Germany) or the Hollandse IJzeren Spoorwegmaatschappij (The Netherlands). After the second world war trains were run by the Deutsche Bundesbahn (Germany) or the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (The Netherlands). Because the railway line was not electrified, the signaling was outdated and it runs next to an excellent bus service the line was closed in 1991. In 2008 a railbike company (http://grenzland-draisine.eu) took over a part of the railway line between Kleve and Groesbeek. The company is settled in Kranenburg and from the old railway station over there you can hire a railbike to Groesbeek or Kleve. The railbike to Groesbeek crosses the border between The Netherlands and Germany. To mark this location an arch was build over the railway line.

On June 10th 2015 I took a box with some LGB rails, Playmobil 4016 EMU, batteries and a remote control to this location. A simple layout was put around the arch, the train was put on the rails and started. As you can see it runs up and down between The Netherlands and Germany and this train might be very well the first Playmobil train that runs onder it’s own power between two countries. See the pictures below and enjoy ;-).

I builded the layout around one of the legs of the arch.

Some cyclist are wondering what I am doing. A few people appreciated my work and hope that the real train will once return between Nijmegen and Kleve.

I've also made a movie. (https://youtu.be/CyWVJ96uef0)
