I wanted to share the treasures I found today - well the sets aren't exactly rare, but I am just in awe with their boxes and the pictures on them. I do miss the box art from the eighties and early nineties...

This is my first pirate ship, and it's the one I like best out of all the ones ever made. The box wasn't sealed (in fact it is in pretty bad shape), but strangely enough the sails and all the bits and pieces are intact. It's as if no-one ever played with it.

As far as I can tell, all the accessories are there. Does anybody know what the two grey poles are for? They're on the right hand side, next to the black hooks.

These figures are so iconic, it's about time I had a batch of my own :)

Can't wait to do another western dio!
Oh and these two clickies were bought on the same occasion. I know where the man is from, but that woman, I have no idea. anyone?

She is from New Orleans ;).
-
the pole things are "pushers" for the cannons. To load them or something..
Gorgeous, yes :)
-
The "poles" are indeed "loading ramrods" for cannons.
(much smaller ones are used for muskets and pistols, but these don´t exist as Playmobil-items).
This is my first pirate ship
That was about time, I´d say ;D
:yippee: :captain: :cham:
So I assume the trip to the event in Oosterhout was a big succes :)
-
Thats quite a (pirate) treasure you found! Beautifull ship. Personly I do prefer the shape of the most recent big pirateship, but this one has great natural colors too, and the real cannonballs and cannons.
Great clickies too!

Be careful with that phrase, there is a new one coming next september ;)
-
True, and that new one seems to be the worst one they ever made. I mean.. a big ship without a cabin? come on. No accesoires either other than weapons and a cannon.
-
The box photos on that pirate ship are off the chain. The ship to ship battle...
But, why is the monkey wearing diapers? I mean, I know why, but it looks silly.
-
Oh wow. Love your purchases. Those pirates ships where every boys dream in my class. Some of them where lucky like my friends brother. When he was not at home we loved to play with it. Memories...
The cattle wagon is gorgeous but please don't send your cows and horses to the butcher :hissyfit:

 Right!
And the set? She looks custom made, but there were several when I picked her out.

:thanks:

Otherwise he throws his faeces at people, it's not pretty.

:-[ Can you believe I hadn't even thought about it like that?
I think Butcher is the name of the man who owns the wagon. The wagon is used for the safe transportation of cows to areas where there is more opportunity for pasturing. 8-)
-
ahh you bought that waggon too? other than that, pretty restrained yourself this time :P
nice buys ;-)
-
Great buys. I love the box art on those, and the cattle wagon is always useful for moving your zebras to summer pasture land, or south in the winter.

YES. ;D

Great finds!! I like the pirate ship but I love the cattle wagon!!
George. :)

Nice I remember all the photos in those old catalogues were really beautiful much better than the ones nowadays probably part of the reason why I have such a desire to collect Playmobil particularly 1990's sets. Those 2 figures are great the man's got some nice detail and the woman is beautiful in that dress.
I know I'm biased but, I agree with you love that Pirate Ship :arrr: :captain: as I've mentioned before I had that ship and the Pirate Island as a kid two of my favourite sets now looking at all the accessories and all the box photos brings back some good memories and makes me want to find one even more, love the design and the sails and much more realistic colours than the one I've bought. I love the seeming realism of the Klickies demonstrating the accessories and the sails and appearing happy concentrating on their work, plus of course the idea of the battle scene and semi underwater photo.
I really like the 1990's Pirates the Captain's got some nice detail and I like the other crew members I've got the guy with the red jacket with a slightly different bandanna, and I really like the chimps I can remember trying to separate the little boy in his cap from the set when my Mum decided to sell my ship because I really liked him but, clearly it can't have worked :-[ . Did you get the posters with the ship as well? I've still got mine now they are something else truly beautiful settup snad very dramatic background plus the jelly seas

 welcome to the playmo-pirate world birdie.
;) you'll get hooked (a little joke).
:) if you don´t mind a suggestion to enhance even further the joy of having a 3750/3053 - try to get the crew from the other version (see picture).

:captain: :arrr: you will then have the only official playmobil set with 2 crews - a total of 10 pirates no less.
they are not that difficult to get on ebay.
great buy.
congratulations.
-
does it look like the sails are literally "burned" on the image?
-
they are indeed.
... close action encounters.
there's even a broken topmast.
i guess they will have to visit ebay island afterwards.
fortunately new 3750 sails and spares are usually still available.
that's what happens when playmos don't get along.
-
hmm I think I saw u buy that ;)
-
Taking another look at the pictures of the pirate ship box, I noticed something.
First of all, that female pirate seems pretty tough, steering the ship and fighting off a captain of the soldiers at the same time.
And second, when the captain is counting the money in the cabin, she seems to be offering him wine. Is she trying to get him drunk so she can get more of the treasure?
This is why I love these old dioramas so much, whoever made them must have had a lot of fun with it.
-
what about the second to last picture, the one where she's getting into the small boat? the pirate is looking at her bum ???

I hadn't noticed - awesome! ;D

Brilliant

The way he has his arms is either suggesting hes planning to catch her if she falls or he is making a gesture to go with what he sees, complimenting her for having a bum that big.

That crew definately looks more modern with their more detailed bodies, alternative to that is to combine them with the crew from the Pirate Island also very good which was most likely what I did when I was a kid. Either way you'd build up a good crew :arrr: :captain:

 It's interesting what you notice if you look closely enough I was going to say it was probably the first one but, I guess it could be either as you say
