Title: 5969 Small Animal Park
Post by: leefert on March 07, 2015, 03:27:08
I picked this cute little set up at Toys R Us today.  While it isn't "new and exciting" I wanted it none the less to add on to my zoo.  The Lions and Orangutans are the same old same old, as is the parrot and Zoo Keeper.  The big attraction for me is the Mother and Daughter, I really like them.  The color of the fencing is different than that of the previous zoo sets.  Overall it's a nice little set, I'm not keen on the higher TRU prices, but I picked it up for 25% off since it's part of the City Life Series.

What a great little set and I agree the mother and daughter are a great addition.  Thanks so much for the review.

It looks very nice, do you have a picture of it all set up as well?

That entrance stand with the pictures each side of the macaw and the orangutan (is it?) looks good.

Thanks for the review :)

I think we have some of that zoo too - they make so many and so different, everyone must have a bunch right?

I will try to get one this evening as I didn't have time to put the fences together.

Looks like van alright little starter set although I suppose that depends how much you're paying for it. The figures look alright and the Mum and daughter do have very nicely coloured clothes  :)

It's a nice looking set. It just occurred to me that I should get it for the fences. They are the style like the previous zoo but are white instead of yellow. They would make a nice transition between the old yellow in this style and the even older all white fences from the first zoo set. Would make some sense visually really. Hmmm

Very true!

I really like the signs with the animal posters.

Okay I had a chance to get it out and set it up.  I really like the coloring of this fence (it's almost a cream color) as opposed to the yellow.

It is very pretty... Actually, I think the ones we have are the yellow one - same mold...

It looks very nice, I really think it is also a great alternative for parents who might find a big zoo set too expensive. By being creative with fences and using a wall, more cages could even be made where other animals can be put in! Kids can get quite creative like that.  :)

Yeah, I always use table edges as part of an enclosure. I figure it's like any open cut view, the viewer just assumes things go on outside the scene. Also it's like having a really deep moat that the animals wont be going past. I do wonder how that teeny low fence is keeping the monkeys in though. Maybe it uses forcefields?

Heh well best not to think too much about fencing since I bet that in most zoo setups you'd see the animals would be able to escape.  :) Unless someone is really actively thinking about all that and has plenty of spare space to build up so many safety precautions.
