This is a project that I have had in the works for quite some time, and I'm so excited it is finally finished! I have hand painted the animal prints on all of these chairs. They will go in my zoo restaurant, which I will hopefully be working on in the next couple of days. Unfortunately, the pictures don't entirely do them justice. Marker lines show up on the pictures that really cannot be seen at all in person. But you can get the general idea, and trust me that up close they really look quite perfect!
I have numbered them, so that just for fun, we can see how many you all can name. A lot are easy, but some of them are pretty obscure! Tomorrow I'll post pictures of them with the names of the animals, showing the backs of the chairs also.

Nice chairs! They look great. I'll take a stab at trying to recognise some of them.
1 - Some kind of scale-covered animal? A reptile or armadillo maybe?
2 - Hmmm... I don't even have much of a guess for that one.
3 - A bee?
4 - Ladybird?
5 - Walrus?
6 - Cow.
7 - Giraffe.
8 - Zebra.
9 - Rhinoceros?
10 - A Spanish mustang? Not sure of this one either.
11 - A cheetah?
12 - Not sure.
13 - Blue poison dart frog or some kind of lizard?
14 - A snake?
15 - Some kind of frog?
16 - Some kind of sea creature? Or a magic caster? I'm not sure.

Thank you guys! Both of you got quite a few right.
-
16 is a tropical fish, I can totally see it in my head but don't remember the name of it or the type.
10 might be an African wild dog? If not you should totally do one, the colors would be fun.
No idea on 2 or 12, the others have been gotten correctly at least once already I think.
-
You're good, Tim. ;D Number 2 is really hard because it looks terrible in the picture, you would definitely know it if you saw it in person. I should really try to get a better picture of it.
-
Well, I think 12 (or 9?) is the hyena..
-
:yup:

Ok, so here are the answers.
(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0774.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0774.jpg.html)
Leefert got the rattlesnake! This is actually one of my favorites. Number 2 is a monarch butterfly. No one got that, but it wasn't quite fair because it looks like a mess in the pictures. It's much neater looking in person.
(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0775-2.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0775-2.jpg.html)
The bumblebee and ladybug were pretty easy.
(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0776-1.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0776-1.jpg.html)
The okapi  was a lot of fun, and the Holstein cow actually turned out cuter than I thought it would.
(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0777-1.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0777-1.jpg.html)
The giraffe and zebra were pretty obvious of course.
(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0778-1.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0778-1.jpg.html)
The first one is a somewhat stylized snow leopard print, and the second one is an african wild dog. Well-spotted Tim! That was a pretty obscure one. One of my favorite animals.
(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0779-1.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0779-1.jpg.html)
First one is a leopard, (cheetahs have actual spots rather than rosettes, and jaguars have black dots inside the rosettes), and very good, Tahra, the second one is a hyena. Though it may need to be a little dirtier to be convincing.
(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0780-1.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0780-1.jpg.html)
Pynedor and Leefert, I'm impressed you got the poison dart! They're really quite beautiful, this is another favorite of mine. And then the other is a clownfish, like Nemo.
(http://i800.photobucket.com/albums/yy289/bonniebeth2/100_0781-1.jpg) (http://s800.photobucket.com/user/bonniebeth2/media/100_0781-1.jpg.html)
The green poison dart was pretty much impossible because the color isn't really right. I need to find a lighter green and do a repaint, but I couldn't wait to post it. And a correction on the last one, that is a young emperor angelfish. One of the most striking fish I have ever seen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emperor_angelfish#mediaviewer/File:Pomacanthus_imperator_%28Emperor_angelfish%29_juvenile.jpg

Love these Bonnie.
I wouldn't have thought of doing so many different ones - had to look up a few of them!
Are these going to decorate some tables too?
-
Thank you! After a lot of deliberation, I've decided to make the tables rather plain so the chairs can shine. They will be different colors, though...blue for the fish and amphibians, green for the grazing animals/leaf-eaters, etc. I was considering red for the predator table but that might be sort of gruesome for a restaurant.
-
Nice! I got a few of them at least. I like my walrus one still, with the legs as the tusks.
-
Yes that's the fish I was thinking of. Its a great looking project Jonnie II'm looking forward to the finished diorama one day.
-
Wow! I got more than I thought that I would. I was trying to remember what your favorite animals were and went with that. The Okapi really was a wild guess on my part.
-

Yeah, I liked that guess. I wish playmobil would do a walrus... I'm thinking of putting the 1-2-3 one in my zoo!

Me too, and hopefully it will be very soon! I'm waiting on a few animals to arrive from Germany, and meanwhile I may finally paint the playmo room and get rid of those brown walls. They're a terrible backdrop for playmobil.

That was a good way to do it, you got a lot!

:picsplz:
Definitely. My playmoroom is a bit of a mess right now. But I spent most of the day today picking up and reorganizing. Once that is finished and I've given it a good cleaning, which it really needs, then it will be easier to paint. I can't wait to get it all straight, but there's only so much time I'm going to devote to it.
-
Those chairs look really great you've done a good job painting them and clearly know your animals very well as well some of the patterns like the rattlesnake are really very impressive I'm sure the visitors to the zoo will be delighted to see such nice chair to sit on ;)
-
What a great idea. You did a great job in creating them.

Thank you!
