Title: Arrival of the 3666!
Post by: PlaymoMan on September 27, 2014, 01:37:52
I apologize, the castle was in fact delivered several weeks ago and it was constructed the same day, although school has interfered, so before today I hadn't had the time to upload these photos.

The open box, stuffed with Steck! :D

The contents of the box.

In my haste to assemble the castle and take pictures, I had forgotten to attach the piece that covers the protruding edges of the round tower. (I have no idea what the technical name of that piece is, still very new to the world of Steck). But, even then, the castle still looks glorious!

Several other angles.

I can certainly attest to the greatness of Steck. The construction possibilities seem endless! Perhaps the Steck bug has bitten me. ;D

True, my Playmo addiction started with a 3666, several round towers and corner towers...
It is a Steck hallmark set: New drawbridge, bay windows and the round tower!

Only missing the double arch, balcony, hipped roof and L-pillar in order to make it the super Steck set. (Maybe I should built my version of a commercial Steck castle including these parts?)

Congrats!!!

Very beautifull castle, for me it was not the start but the castle I always wanted as a child and my first mayor purchase as an adult getting back into it.

The combination of figures is just superb, quite a bit of living space too. Just a nice castle with a good selection of clickies with a lot of play potential.

The mother of all Playmobil castles  It's always nice to see one of these in good condition.

Congratz on your purchase, and good luck with customizing. It's fabulous, definitely now there are several steck buildings (and crucial parts!!) available through DS.

A classic piece of Playmobil to treasure!

The piece you missed off the round tower is a buttress, btw.

It remains interesting that its actually one of few sets that pretty much anyone interested in playmobil knows the number of.  :)

Generally not called a 3666 either, but "the" 3666. Kind of shows how much awe most people have for it! Pretty sure I also named it "the" 3666 when making my own topic for it shortly after joining the forums. In fact I first thought someone revived my very old topic when I noticed the topic title.  :-[

Just found it, seems it is named the same exept I used a . instead of a ! behind it.

Very interesting observations, it does seem to be one of the only sets that collectors refer to as "the".

What a coincidence concerning the topic names! Perhaps that is due to the majesty of the 3666. To me, the use of arrival brings to mind a royal procession of some sort.

I certainly remember buying this back in 2002.  I was supposed to be buying train tickets, but while in town, I decided to have a little look in the toy shop and then I kind of found myself coming out with the 3666 in my arms....

Later: 'You know those train tickets I was supposed to be buying?  Well, come and look at this which I bought instead!!'

Never did take the train trip.
