Title: Luxplaymodays 2014 haul
Post by: Birdie on August 24, 2014, 10:36:42
The annual Playmobil fair in Clémency, Luxembourg, is where I get my biggest hauls of second hand Playmobil.
This year I got an exceptionally big and affordable lot of sets, clickies, spare parts, a lot of them from the 'golden early nineties', and all in excellent condition.

I can't tell you how excited I am  :)  :cham:

I concentrated on my wishlist and I found five sets that have been on there for years, all for reasonable prices that come nowhere near the amounts they are listed for on Ebay - and with the added bonus of no shipping costs at all.
They're the Victorian laundry lady, the purple bedroom, the wizard's tower, the gypsies with dancing bear and the old city bus.

Some other *must-have* items were the pretzel guy (finally decided to get him too) and the Victorian couple with stroller.
I also found the missing bucket for my 3666 castle and a red corner roof piece missing from the train station building. Other spare parts are the bedside table lamps and several fireplaces.

Here's a picture of it all:

I've got two specific dioramas in mind for the following months, one is a zoo with enclosures that have splendid backdrops and themed areas (a bit like the San Diego Zoo we visited in July), and the other is a magical forest with dark towers, fairytale scenes and a medieval village.

That's why I got the Inca temple, the Viking fort, the prison tower, the wizard's tower, the cabin and the large drinking pool area with a lot of big trees from the dinosaur theme.

The city bus is an old favourite of mine (has something to do with the Balisto advertisement, I think). It will get a place in my current city street diorama.

I also bought some Mystery F?gures that I've had my eye on for a while.

For those of you who are interested, here's a list of what I paid for the big sets I found. They were not MISB of course, but most of them did have the original box, manual and booklet. I got some discounts because sellers actually started remembering me from previous exhibitions.

3632 Gypsies with dancing bear            €25
3782 Bus                                            €30
3665 Enemy castle with damsel            €30
3839 Wizard and apprentice ruin          €24
3897 Talking tree with gnome              €28
5506 Pretzel vendor                            €15
5325 Purple bedroom                          €21
5510 Purple stroller and couple            € 9
5407 Laundry lady                              €25
3015 Inca temple and Indiana Jones    €42,5
3151 Viking hideout                            €35
5918 Cabin in the woods                     €25
4827 Safari animal drinking spot          €20

I spent a lot of money, but I save up for this event. I don't regret it for a minute ;D

My Victorian collection is nearly complete now.

Wow, great stuff! No regrets indeed!

And thanks for including prices, I was curious as to what is a decent price for some of those sets in Europe.

And your new diorama ideas sound great - looking forward to them already!

Incredible haul! :o

Those prices are very good, just a fraction for what they would have gone for on eBay.

Looking forward to the dioramas you have planned! :)

Congratulations on these great purchases. Such nice things for fair prices. Thank you for sharing. Did you bring a trolley?

I especially love the gypsies and the cabin. It is a good thing the sellers gave you a discount. It is a privilege to see their things used in your diorama's.

Very very nice haul you've got some really good sets there really like the look of the jungle temple with all the animals and greenery. The dragons tower looks like it's got some good figures and the spilt beer  :**: plus the wizards tower (explains the origins of the genie in the new set), the bus loooks like another nice old set and no dobut the viking camp is also a really good set with lots of potential. Nice seeing all the Klickies mingling and the couple in the middle of all that sat up in bed  ;D

 Aw poor fellas can't even have a bit of privacy in their own bed (you need to find them their own bedroom  ;)) although hopefully most of the people are friendly apart from possibly the Knights and the animals I suppose may be a bit over friendly, maybe I 'm overthinking this too much  :-[

Still tempted to get that baron's tower someday.. but also the small castle.. frankly, I'd love to have the full assortment of that year's medieval collection, and the forestmen that came after it.

No I'm afraid not  :)  The new Playmobil villa and furniture were quite expensive too, so no more buys for me for a while. Besides, Heerde is only on Saturday, if I'm not mistaken (not Sunday)? Then we can't make it anyway.   :'(

That's what I have in mind to. Some day...  :cloud9:

The worst part is that two years ago I had the chance to get most of the forestmen sets on Marktplaats, but I didnt.. I had spend quite some money at the time and I figured it would pop up again.. it has not yet.

A pity, really. The condition was perfect and complete though prices where a little steep it was acceptable.. I really regret not getting those sets. The hunters, the dancing bear and the swan knight tent where all there for sure.. more sets than that even.
