Title: Childhood home
Post by: Mr Raven on August 24, 2014, 08:24:26
My wife and i had been talking about childhood homes, and what is better when explaining how a childhood home has looked like then building it! So my wife had build her childhood home, and later i did. As i had not made a custom building myself it was a good exercise to get more experienced. The difficult part was to remember how it exactly looked like, and with the limitations of the base boards and walls, not to mention the available windows, i tried to make it look like how it was for real. I also tried to give it a 70's feel. It's not very sophisticated, just done over a weekend.

That's a neat idea for a custom, and I imagine it is challenging, trying to mimic the structural elements. Well done!

What a great idea! I love the interior's 70's look. Is there an overview picture too, so I could have a look at the design of the building?

It's neat what you can do with system-X pieces, but they do need a cover-the-holes system too.

Thank you for the nice comments!

@ conniefrere: We've done that already too! Here's a pic of family Raven's playmobil headquarters (or livingroom)

@ Birdie: No, there's no overview, but think of a square building with only one inside wall going from the front to the back, dividing the hallway and storage room from the living area.

Very nice, great job on integrating several different System X buildings into your custom home. Well done! :)

Really interesting project, and yes, it IS complicated to mimic any "real-life" house in playmobil..

There are plenty of interesting detaisl - what are the trophies from? Love the mismatch chair... and the kitten, of course

Thanks again for the nice comments.

@ tahra: The trophy in gold comes from the horse show, 5224. The trophy's in silver we don't know, as they came with a big lot of second hand playmobil.

Great homes. I love the cozy and a bit messy style! The small version of the chestnut spiderweb brings back memories.

Sorry, not what I meant - I was being nosy, I guess  :-[ - I meant what were the trophies for, in your home  :-[

:) These trophy's were won by my father with soccer, he used to be a soccer player in the village soccer team. There must have been five or six of them.

It is as others have said an interesting idea not sure I'd know where to start well I think I'd need to try building something first since I've never really had any Playmobil buildings or at least none that I can remember  :eh?:. The house you built does have that old fashioned sort of feel with the old TV and radio and with some of the cabinets and stuff give it that 70's feel although some one might correct me on this since I'm hardly an expert  :-[

An interesting project, and well executed. I can see where trying to replicate a real place would be hard if you don't have a ton of extra pieces laying around.
