:woohoo: I am so excited that the cows I ordered came today. Have been waiting so long for them to be available here in the US. They were well worth the wait and will be a great addition to the farm scene that I have in mind. ;D I am not that interested in the headgear and although I like the bells, the collars seem a bit too bulky. I will find another way to attach them. The figures are very nice, but I would have bought the cows on their own as well.

They look happy to be home :D

Have you any pictures (or are you going to take some) of them with the bells and collars on?

Completely agree!

Great pic! Thanks Tahra.
-
Thank you, Tahra. Are some of them the same as the DS cows?

That we need to ask Tiermann... :-[

Great pics. I'm glad the cows made it home safely!

I'm glad to see they found themselves a nice and warm stable.
They're so cute.

The older and new cows appear to be the same mold, just different colors. The new brown spotted one is just a shade lighter than the older cow.
@Gordon, anticipating your next question, the headgear fits both old and new!
@indianapierre, like Jack Sprat and his wife, maybe we can make a deal. :)
The new cows are on the left, the older ones on the right.

Thanks for the extra photos, Joe. I think the two solid coloured ones are new. I may add a couple to my next DS order.

Gordon, the solid dark brown cow is #30 64 3263, the solid tan cow is #30 65 1573, the spotted tan cow is #30 65 1583 and the calf is #30 64 3173.

Thank you, Joe, that's saved me looking them up.

As has been said lots of new cowness in that set. I really like them. In the 2014 new German addons catalog the tan and white and also the dark brown are both there as three cow families including the bulls and the tan and white calf, which are not in the Alpine set. The plain tan cow matches up reasonably well with the tan bull from the Nativity set. No plain tan calf yet in this style.

I knew I'd seen them somewhere. Thanks, Tim.

;D
Don't know about the prices though - buying them alone... I remember the brown bull was expensive.
-
Yay! I'm looking forward to getting this set. No idea what I'm going to do with it, but I love it!

Same here! I've got to get it though because of my love of Alpine Villages

Looks like a nice add on altogether nice looking figures in traditional dress not to mention the beautiful headgear and bells on the cows plus the cows themeselves look very nice and happy to arrive at their new home, I particularly like the dark calf and the goat looks alright as well :)
-
Thanks for all the nice comments, here is a closer look at the three figures included, sorry I was so excited about the cows I neglected them. :-[ All three figures are dressed in traditional costume. The woman is dressed beautifully and has a detachable apron. The girl is nicely attired as well, her apron is part of the figure. The man has a great green hat, a red vest and shorts. All three have short sleeves and the arms up to the elbow turn as a unit as opposed to the wrist. Looks like they are ready to move in. ;D

Thanks for the extra photo and details, Joe. That change in the arm is interesting, and I wonder why they made it. One reason could be youngsters are less adept nowdays, which I doubt when you look at them using IT equipment. Another, and possible then real one, that the flush fitting wrist was harder to turn than the older design, (certainly, I found it so on some figures) and so having the turn at the elbow gives more leverage and, therefore, makes it easier.l
-
...and the arms up to the elbow turn as a unit as opposed to the wrist...
Well, that is anatomically more accurate... :P

That's true.

:o
But I checked mine today... They turn at the wrist, like everyone else! ???

Joe
so the arm twists at the elbow not at the wrist? why does that sound weird?
-
I was excited about those cows too (animals ànd bells/headgear :)). Thanks for sharing the pictures!

Whatever could you mean? :P
... I just found this image, and was blown away by the size of those bells. Now I wonder if Playmobil made them too small!
P.S. I need more cowbell.
-
Nice to see them 'for real'
I also thought those collars where big, but not as big as those pictures show. Thanks for sharing.
-
A very warm welcome to the cows!! I love this set!!
George. :)
