Please feel free to tell us why you voted the way you did!
-
Hmm, is the consensus that the Fi?ures replaced the Specials? I was thinking more that the Specials Plus replaced the Specials. I think they wanted to keep some individual figures that people can buy with confidence about what they are getting.
On this topic though, I would vote for a giant supply of new Duo Packs! They are the best. :D
-
I opted for specials, I like to know what I am buying and if/when I want many of specific klickies it's easier to load up.
-
Same reason as Ras.
-
I like both equally! And the duo packs. ;)
-
Is this about a PCC poll? Can those who have elected not to join know about it or is it top secret again?
-
Specials - because it's such a pain to track down the F?gures I want.

This is just me being curious, lol!
No secrets here, my friend.

Went with specials, for the reasons already mentioned.
It's fun to open the figures bags, but gets annoying when you don't get what you want, and it's hard to get them in numbers. Besides, considering the freaks they come up with, I think it's mostly "useful" for those who like all themes AND have more parts to use.
-
I voted figures because we do get more parts that otherwise we wouldn't but I think the army builder figures should really be offered in three packs via rd catalog... like the upcoming highlands in a 3 pack for example.
-
I voted Specials and agree with Rasputin and Tahra's reasons.
The only time I buy F?gures is when I really want a specific one and then I usually find them, out of the package and assembled, on a Playmobil fair.
Most of the F?gures are a bit too 'weird' for my taste, I don't have a lot of fantasy stuff.
-
though i like the concept of the Fi?ures, and it's really fun to go for a feeling-session in the shops with my kids  ;D , i'd prefer the specials too.
-
I'm really surprised so many of us a choosing Specials over Fi?ures! Especially those of us who a trying to equalize our numbers by adding more women. If you look at the coming Specials for this year (internationally) there is a waitress and a yellow princess/lady; next year there will be another princess/lady , a milk maid, a pregnant mother and an award winner - for a total of 6 (none of which really interest me).
For the Fi?ures this year will have 24 women characters (Series 6 & 7)... including (besides the usual princess/ladies) a Chinese lady, an Aussie koala keeper, and the green enchantress for series 6 and a hippy chick, nun, Indian lady and snake charmer from series 7 And that's not even mentioning the Highlander from the "boys" side! So, even though there are lots of repeats and the usual selection of knights, pirates and princesses, you still get a better selection than you do with the Specials.
I'd like to have both Specials and Fi?ures but right now my focus is on collecting the Fi?ures - my collecting of Specials (and S-Plus) has dropped off quite a bit since the arrival of the surprise figs! I hope PM doesn't discontinue them!

I think the discussion is more the concept than the actual sets, no?
Both "series" suffer from "more of the same" syndrome. But there are a LOT more figures (too many, too fast IMO) than there are thse special (PLUS, these days :( )... so, apart from the repeats, there's more "space" to add different ones.
(I don't understand playmobil's obsession with.. cooks.)

I wrote don't care because I love them both in different ways. The specials are/were awesome for reasons I'm sure I don't have to tell anyone. But the F?gures are so much fun, with rapid-succession mass releases of a large variety of easily customizable klickys. They don't tend to have as many accessories as specials do, and sometimes they are not as well thought out as the older specials, but I really do love them and would be upset if they were discontinued. I could lose the mystery bag packaging, though.
-
I do love the popability of F?gures, and some of the designs are quite fun. But the combination of mystery packaging and lack of local availability means that I have to pay more than retail price (except for the PF co-op).
I think the mystery packaging is fun for kids, but it would be beneficial to us and Playmobil (since a lot of the money in mystery figures goes to Ebayers) if we could order specific F?gures off playmobil.com. Even if it were slightly more expensive than buying them "blind" at a store, people would buy ones they couldn't find.
-
I voted for Specials. Though I like some of the Fi?ures, but I'm fed up with feeling the bags. At least for the first series, on KW, they had cracked the code. Don't know if it's true for all the other series. I usually find the figures I want at playmo fairs, and even though they're more expensive, I only get the ones I want, and only those.
-
The only reason I voted for specials is that I like to see what I buy. I love the figures in the bags but I have too many doubles to enjoy buying anymore; I'm not that patient with feeling bags...
-
I do love the popability of F?gures, (..)
;D ;D ;D

So would everybody be happy if the Specials Plus theme was expanded to have 8, 10 or 12 sets for each release... and adding more women to the series? We'd get a better selection, a better possibility for odd/unusual/creative characters - and we'd see what we were buying.

No, specials, not special+ , me thinks. Most sets bring another not really needed part, and they're more expensive.
However, we decided to NOT buy all special+ , as we did with the specials, so there's that.
I think, like someone said, they should sell the figures on the sites, even if slightly more expensive. Or at least on the pcc. But I forget. They don't want our money.
-
But I forget. They don't want our money.
No, they clearly don't.If they did, they would have brought out the "Highlander" figure as a special or in a duo pack.It would have sold like crazy... 8}
-
I'm more and more convinced that half those sellers on ebay are playmobil themselves............
-
I voted for Fi?ures because I can actually take them apart whereas my pile of regular klickys needing disasembly is growing.
Though the quality control with the Fi?ures need work. I need to call PM Service yet again with my latest list of malformed or missing parts. Oh and I have a bunch of heads I want to scrub the eyelashes, etc. off of because their placement is just to wonky and I'd rather just have nice basic heads.
-
Voted for "specials" because I often want larger quantities of a specific klicky and I like to see what I buy, and the bag-feeling in shops gets annoying and time-consuming.
BUT with the Surprise figures, it is great that Geobra designs much more new parts then was the case with the specials, and in the later years the originality of the Specials' designs was declining.
So, for me Surpise Figures in a bag that indicates what is inside would be just fine. Maybe the number of Figures they release each time could be lowered to 8 - 10 of each gender, instead of 12, to give a better chance to keep up (though I don't collect them all, and with the latest series there are already fewer Figures I want then with the first series).

Did you try a popper? ;)
Unfortunately, (lack of) quality is a wide problem, not limited to the figures.
-
I've gotten my share of misprinted faces and such too, but I do enjoy when extra parts are included.

Try 24 new ones every six months! That's what we get with the F?gures. But yes, that would be great. Not necessarily specials plus, but specials perhaps.

I really do need to try your method as I have only very limited sucess with the "hands on" and Spanish method. I actual got some fishing line a couple weeks ago but need to review your post and figure out what I can tie it to - a metal railing sounds like it would work but that's outside.

I use the kitchen door handle - I was afraid I might pull it out, actually :-[ , but so far, nothing happened to it... I plan to have a thing "installed" at that height in the playmoroom (if I ever finish it :( ).
Just make sure you don't put your face near when popping, in case the line snaps.

Thanks for the warning.

I've voted don't care because I like them both. I genuinely don't have a problem with blind feeling the Mystery packets in fact it's part of the fun for me provided you can find a decent sized store with a quiet corner not directly under the till sure I foten have my doubts and recheck packets on my way to pay for them befgore deciding to swap it for one I'm more sure about but, the feverish excitement and the wondering whether you've guessed right is all part of the fun and so far my method of trying to identify more than one easy to feel part to narrow it down has had a 100% success rate so far. It's also good for me since I sturggle to dissamble figures to have some where you can easily take them apart and if you're not happy with the designs it's easier to change them around when new parts come out
As for the Specials they also produce some good figures and personally I think £2.50 for a Special Plus figure compared with £1.99 for a Mystery figure is pretty reasonable for what you're getting and there looks to be some good oness coming up this year. Just wish they were a bit better on the Creatvity department for both Mystery figures and Specials instead fo going for the same old variations Rockers, Knights and how many Aien variation have we seen?
-
Of course specials and special+. I would like fi?ures to stop the production and all to be released as specials that can be disassembled!!!!!
-
Ideally I would like the Figures reoffered as Specials too maybe a year after their initial appearance even, so having my cake and eating it too :lol ;D. Over here, the Figures are roughly one dollar cheaper than the Specials but I would rather pay extra just to know what I get and get what I like. It's hard for me to see "orphan" figures, the ones that you have no current use for that just sits forlornly on the shelf.
