Cool figures, cheng! What does it say on their chests?
These are some typical Chinese you will see on Chinese footsoldier uniforms in ancient China.
勇 (yong) = Courage;Brave
兵 (bing) = soldier
卒 (zu) = another way of calling a soldier
This one is for prisoners
囚 (qiu) = prison; prisoner (can mean either)

thanks Larry! If only I can read Chinese, I would have been able to research those Chinese historical websites before doing my customs (instead of relying on western interpretation of Chinese history :D )
and for a moment, I thought "zu" is "pig' but reconise the character from my chinese chess set.
