Title: 5477 Knight Christopher
Post by: Tiermann on January 01, 2014, 20:42:28
Here he is, the most recent of the three Christopher knights. For those who may not be familiar with this series, after the Indian Ocean Tsunami Playmobil began a charitable relationship with a children's support organization in Sri Lanka. Every few years since then they have released a special St Christopher themed knight where part of the sales from it go to the charity. This is the third so far, released in December 2013/January 2014. These typically only are released in the German and nearby markets and do not make it to the US or other distant export countries.

You get the knight that consists of the figure, gold arm pieces, gold helmet, unicorn helmet topper with two feathers, sword, shield, horse, gold neck piece for horse, saddle caparison piece. The shield has dark blue on it but the second feather is black. It looks great so no problem there. The gold plastic used here is newer, it was used in the 6301 Pirates Accessories add on for some gold dishes/pots. It's a hard plastic and nicely reflective. Very nice and shouldn't have any tarnish problems like the 35th anniversary knight has had in some cases.

Here are some views of the klicky. You can see he has a pin on the back center of the armour that a hook piece can connect to. This allows him to carry his shield on his back. Looks good and is nice to have both arms free.

The gold breastplate piece must be unique to this set as it's that same new gold plastic. Don't know if any other pieces are new here. A nice looking figure, and no facial stubble for once.

I think this one will make a great addition to any Knight series collection. Very well done and nicely balanced between style and playability.

Thanks Tim for the review, and happy new year to you! I must say I'd hoped for the same golden plastic as usual. That would have helped customise with older parts. Now I feel these two golds won't match and it will be an issue, at least to my eyes. The 3800 Knight Christopher still remains my favourite by far, though I admit this one looks nice by itself, could have used a nice caparison for once… nevermind, I'll make one!  ;D
Best,
Arnaud

He looks really nice! Love that armorpiece - well, if I could shave that pointy end over the mouth.. :-[

So, he's a unicorn knight. In different colors. Uhm. Will get him too! :)

Thanks for the review!

He looks wonderfull. Personly I quite like this type of shiny gold since this wont scratch like the older shiny stuff.

I'll definatly will get one of these.

Haven't  seen this series before, Tim.  I am so sad that they don't sell him here.   :'(  Thank you for the review and great pics.  Do you have pictures of the previous knights in this series?

Thanks for the review! Hopefully that gold works out. I'm glad to see that it's hard, so I assume it's not like the new silver that was used for some of the newer parts. <*)

Great review of the set Tim. I and the kids really want him and about 6 of them to add to our unicorn army. It would be nice if Geobra would distribute them in the US but seeing as they never did in the past we may have to use Amazon international

Really nice pictures by the way

Nice looking set I think I mgith have seen a review of one of the previous St Christopher figures unless I'm getting confused either way he looks good with the shiny gold armour on him and the horse and a great shield design clever of them to put a hook on his back as you can take it off when he's not using the shield so the hook doesn't look ugly and it'll be covered when he does carry his shield on his back  :knight:. Nice as well that some of the money's going to charity just a pity they don't sell it further afield  :(

A professional review Sir Tim , thanks   .

As for this klikcy , i really like his predeseccor and had great expectations of this one. The new golden color looks  superb and i cant wait to see it more used , far better than the early gloomy gold in swan knights and the shiny one in the anniversatry knight that would turn copper like after a while. BUT , why the legs in silver for all the Gods , the upper and lowers parts dont match color wise and also the body armor is so short in reminds me of a baby's bib       and his belt is so big it reminds me of a sumo fighter .

An excellent review for a not so excellent klicky i am afraid . The previous chrisotpher has royalty and status this one is like its made of part leftovers !!!!!  :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
